Clearly this is just a show but it is interesting and engaging. The actors do not exaggerate more than it is necessary for the story to engage the audience. Not too much drama and the hippis shown for what they are. Not too much contrast (I mean black and white) but also not too little. I do not think there is much to complain. Some do not like slow pace but I do not mind. I am tired of the standard formula where first the president is attacked, then the earth destroyed and then the tension starts to rise. There are tense moments. What bothered me a little is that all lego blocks fall into their place. I do not think this works like that in real life but it is just a show.

I may be revisiting this some time.

It reminded me a bit the Jessy Stones "series" thanx to proper character development and slower pace than normal police series.

People expecting a simple scifi with explosions and straight end can be disappointed here. The movie has a lots of dark tones and leaves one thinking about the sense of life. In fact if the title was not already occupied this could be called that.

There are so many different ways to see this which brings me to the movie again. While the nice told stories w/o some sense in it make watching the movies again difficult. I liked arrival and watched that few times, I loved interstellar and watched twice only because the pictures were more valuable than the story itself. Here the story itself is much more important.

I liked the ending as well as all that led to it. Although like is maybe a wrong word - if one takes it as a sense of life movie than there is not much to like there although I am sure there are different views on that too.

The actors are excellent. The effects are based mostly on real effects not CGI that gives it the atmosphere that the other movies lack.

I saw it back in the day and was fascinated. Back then I did not see a lot of movies like this - slick and modern showing us how the US navy is superior to anything and that the smart anticommie heros always win and are white knights. This is the usual tom clancy style. The guy is brilliant I give him that. The script is well written and holds together. If one does not look at the politics of it all and the obvious propaganda aspects then it is indeed watchable - especially with the crew of excellent actors that is a joy to watch - if one forgets the said aspects. These would not be a problem if we did not have quazilion movies like this, an obvious result of the cultural dominance of the US empire. The problem I have with it is exactly that. It is a small problem in an otherwise excellent production. Still cost it 2 stars as I am old an easily annoyed. These are the afterthought however. You can still watch it if you like.
