This movie has a lot in common with the adventures of the the Famous Five in Enid Blyton's books. Beautiful scenery, youngsters on summer vacation and some mysterious events.
The script has potential and the limited budget of the film tries to make the best out of it. The casting serves the purpose and some clever sidelines can be observed (like one characters constant obsession with food or the behaviour of the local boat-policeman).
All in all an entertaining experience, although towards the end of the movie you start to fear that it will be the easy way out and some questions will be left unanswered. Well, this happens and all who waited to see the submarine won't get their cake.
Additional 20 minutes of screen time in the ex-military base with some special effects would have helped this movie to really shine. Now it just leaves you with a flashback to the 80's island summers.

If your into current swedish movies, this one holds the standard. A somewhat unusual storyline with surprises at regular intervals keeps it going. Scenery seen in the movie is very true to current Stockholm and it's suburbs. Casting is quite ok too.
Superficially the movie is very well made, the story is intriguing and fluently presented so it makes good entertainment but... here comes the but...
If you start to analyze more deeply what you have, some noteworthy issues arise. The setup of the story takes quite a bit of time in the beginning of the movie, around 1 hour or so. This partly is also the reason why the running time of the movie is on the long side.
The environment where the movie is set tries to present a prediction on how urban living in the future would look like. Strong contrasts can be seen, some scenes are very much on the scifi side where as other scenes are very much on "nothing has changed" side. On top of that each of the main characters in the movie are presented with strong personalities which creates some interesting scenes.
So all in all it is many things put into one package, maybe too many things in one package... at times it is hard to see what is the main focus: the story, the techno show or maybe the character personality study. Go see it and try to make sense out of it beyond the obvious story.
