That doesn't stop Enn from falling madly in love with Zan (Elle Fanning), a beautiful and rebellious alien who becomes fascinated with him. Together, they embark on a delirious adventure through the kinetic, punk rock world of 1970s London, inadvertently setting off a series of events that leads to the ultimate showdown between punks and aliens.
Queen Boadicea (Nicole Kidman) is an old-school punk who manages the local punk hangout. PT Stella (Ruth Wilson) is one of the alien leaders. PT Wain (Matt Lucas) is the other one. PT Waldo (Tom Brooke), Zan's parent is also an alien leader. Vic is taken by Stella to her room upstairs, presumably to have sex. Stella takes Vic to a secluded room, makes him remove all his clothes and then proceeds to shove a finger up his behind sensuously. Enn meets a girl named Wain who shows how she has 1 split finger in her hand and says that she manifested imperfectly.
Enn then comes across a group of people with Zan in it, who discuss how the tour will not include the usual London sights due to the Queen's birthday celebrations but rather would have a curated list of experiences in the local community of Croydon. Zan does not seem very pleased with the developments. Zan says that they are behaving like tourists than travelers and says that they should be like Stella and really participate.
Zan comes out of the room and meets Enn. Enn intrigues Zan with his talk about Punk rock bands. Zan finds out that Enn is a local and not an alien. Zan says that she arrived that morning and this is the last stop on their tour. To enrage her leaders, Zan starts to kiss Enn. This is when Vic arrives (after escaping Stella) and makes Enn and John leave with him.
Zan meets Enn outside of the house. She wants Enn to show her the world, as their own alien itinerary sounds very boring to her. She says that she ran away from her colony and has 48 hours with Enn.
Enn takes her to his home, where Zan meets his mother Marion (Joanna Scanlan), who likes her. Waldo enters Marion's body and asks Zan to return to the colony. But Zan is determined to have the unique experiences, which is what the universe tour is all about. Zan gives Enn her colony ring and tells him that she will never leave him.
PT First (Edward Petherbridge), is the alien supreme leader. Waldo conducts a vote in her presence, with fellow elders and it is decided to shun Zan from the colony. Zan is a big fan of the punk, so Enn takes her to meet Boadicea. Boadicea misunderstands when Zan says she has been a star, and she introduces Zan as a singer at her local punk-house that night. Enn saves her, by joining her on stage and both sing a song about alien rituals.
After the song, Zan tells Enn that the next day her colony will exit with the alien leaders eating the children. Enn thinks that Zan is in some mass suicide pact. The entire alien colony comes to the punk-house and Waldo tells Zan that she is danger of being left behind, if she doesn't come back. First tells Zan that she is with child. Zan comes to her senses and goes back.
Enn is helpless and begs Bodicea for help to get Zan back. Bodicea enlists all of her punk followers who attack the alien colony. But First intervenes and puts every human to sleep, but Enn is not affected. Waldo proposes that the aliens should do away with the child eating ceremony. But First says that that is the only to keep population under control, else every species simply consumes their planet. Enn counters first by saying that humans may have cocked up Earth, but at least they are alive.
The leaders vote to abolish child eating, but it's a deadlock. Until Waldo reveals that Zan is also pregnant & is entitled to a vote. First agrees, but says that to exercise her vote, Zan must give birth, for which she has to exit and if she exits, she can't return. Zan decides to leave after a tearful goodbye to Enn, as she can secure the future of her entire race by using her vote.
15 years later, Enn is a graphic artist and has published a book which is a bestseller. One day he is doing a book signing when a bunch of teenagers come and introduce themselves to Enn. Enn recognizes them as Zan's kids and is tearful that she remembered him.
