I had hopes for this show! Was excited to see more about NYC and the people there. But so many things wrong with this show. Firstly there is zero storyline, literally nothing happens. The friendships are fake and no one has anything interesting to say. You can tell there isn't much content to feature because the show is full of "what's coming up", we are literally about to watch what is coming up in 5 minutes time, we don't need a reminder - and flashbacks to both where we see the cast in other shows, I don't care about them as child stars or what their parents have done, but also relating to something that happened the night before or whatnot, why not just show just these scenes within the show? You've obviously filmed them, just include them, might actually give some context. Also why the need for giant subtitles the whole way through? They are distracting and we don't need them, most of the time you can hear clearly what they are saying. Honestly, just unwatchable.
Next Gen NYC is not only pretentious, which we knew going in, but it's also a clumsily and chaotically produced show. Don't bother trying to keep up with who is who. The viewer is forced to jump from scene to scene trying to figure what the hell these people are even doing or talking about (which isn't much of anything tbh). All these people, especially the guys look exactly the same, sound exactly the same (that I'm so rich I just naturally speak in this nasally and annoying tone) and the girls aren't much better. Then we have Riley and it's like girl why are you even here? It's clear that she was thrown in to add an obligatory Black girl (nope, I'm not counting Ava at all because she is clearly not giving Black girl energy) and sticks out like a sore thumb. She's better than this mess and I hate the way she is treated on this show. Hopefully there is no season two of this mess. Didn't make it past the first 35 minutes or so.
It's giving desperate to be famous. Boring, fake friendships and they offer nothing. Not one is from NYC! Don't bother to watch.
Looks like one of them pitched the idea, and gathered from other states to be part of the cast. They constantly bring in one of the mothers from The Real Housewives & it has nothing to do with how Gen-Z lives in NYC.
The challenges that anyone goes thru living in NYC are finances, living with parents, deciding careers or how to pay for college/rent. The cast here come across rich, none of the discussions make any sense. They act forced, forced dynamics.
Reality tv for success can't change the formula, which is choosing people that are actually from the state and have some sort of relationships/drama.

Love this show!!! There's a few too many cooks in the kitchen, but those who rise to the top are certified chefs. Could watch 20 more episodes. Brooks, Emira, Riley, Ariana, Ava and Georgia are stars. The show also has a great sense of humor and youthful energy- it's an easy fun watch and fun to see this next generation out in the world.
I scoffed when I saw this was coming out. Then I had nothing to watch one day so put it on and ended up really enjoying it . Arianna and Hudson are so likeable. Riley on the last episode was hilarious! I like the involvement of housewives & I genuinely found it entertaining and hope there's another season.
