Spent

This show is brilliant, I found it purely by accident when I was scrolling through looking for something a bit funny to pass half an hour, I was hooked immediately by some great writing, and a hugely likeable cast.

The story is simple, but the creative team do really well to expand on the characters, giving just the right amount of backstory to get their motivations.

Most important is the fantastic lead performance, who you really can't help but root for from the off. She is not just your normal shallow rich kid, she has layers, and they come through time and again throughout the show in funny, heart warming ways.

Everything crossed for a series 2!!

I started watching this series because of the two great reviews, ignoring the one bad one, thinking it's a disgruntled actor who missed out on a part. How wrong I was.

The "annoying and poorly executed " post was spot on!

All the characters were annoying and I didn't like or sympathise with any of them. The idiotic lead character spent her money faster than she could make it, on rubbish and didn't learn from her mistakes. She was a liar, a cheat, someone I'd avoid in real life. When someone goes bankrupt, people don't realise that there are people on the receiving end who don't get paid what they are owed and also risk going bankrupt through no fault of their own.

There goes six hours of my life I'll ever get back, the series was unresolved and I doubt there will be a second series of this trash.

Shame on the writers, producers, directors and money backers for making this tripe. On the bright side, you are all at the bottom of the barrel, your life choices can only improve from here!

I watch Spent in about two sittings and as a big Michelle de Swarte fan I expected big things and I wasn't disappointed.

Mia is a successful model who has returned to her family and friends who she left behind. With that return comes a whole load of baggage that needs to be dealt with.

Mia has complicated relationships with those that love her and can come across as selfish but there's so much to her than that and she is hilarious and likeable.

I love to see black women who are more than the funny best friends. Mia is difficult and unreliable but she has a kindness and is incredibly watchable.

I really hope there's a second series.
