Avis à la une
Ignore the haters - they've never picked up a camera and shot anything in their lives. Most are atheists and hate faith-based anything.
A very complete tale, interwoven with beautiful cinematography, powerful performances (Cuba Gooding, Jr, Sharon Leal, especially), masterful score, and a truly epic storyline with many twists.
Ignore the hate. It's because of Jesus. Enough said.
Anyway, the visual details are great. Lots of money was spent on this movie and it was spent on things that really mattered, like recreating interiors and antiques. The guns and horses look like artifacts to the modern viewer, but they're also well-kept and illustrious. This is a powerful and unending film on slavery and faith and musical scores of the antebellum South.
The conclusion is a great blending of commonality of incredible faith and AMAZING GRACE. All in all, this is one of the most well rounded stories I've ever seen on the motion picture screen all due to the Lord Jesus Christ and His incredible redeeming mercy to us all!
The opening scene is spellbinding of the slave escape with Cuba Gooding, Jr and his family. Perfect cast, perfect soundtrack, perfect script by Tim Chey.
Every line moves the plot forward and is memorable. The music is gorgeous. The acting is impeccable. Wonderfully shot by Dean Cundey ("Back to the Future" Jurassic Park")
I will not write about the plot here, because many people already did this; I will only say for people that never watched this movie, that it deserves to be watched.
BEST Historical Faith Film in the Past 30 Years. To me, this is a film you see once and never again. It is brutal, graphic, and I personally found it triggering my freedom and Civil Rights were given only a few years ago. And it really does touch you that deeply too, and whether you are a man and end up feeling Samuel's freedom, you don't leave the film without being the least bit scathed. Which is why I say it is worth seeing. Cuba surely gives an award worthy performance which thinking about makes my breaths shallow and eyes begin to water. In a perfect world, this should have won an Oscar, but for its faith content.
My rating: Solid A.
The artwork and scenery is breathtakingly filmed, and the acting tremendous. If the storyline occasionally stretches things a bit, just relax and enjoy what, is in essence, one of the best faith-based stories on film since 'Risen' and 'Hacksaw Ridge'.
