Star Wars Reveals Full Design of New Villain Tava Ren
Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #8

Star Wars has debuted a new sequel-era villain (who has one of the coolest designs yet). Set between The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker, Marvel's canonical Legacy of Vader series has been filling in gaps and revealing Kylo Ren's rule as Supreme Leader. However, we've also just learned more about the Knights of Ren (and their brand-new leader).

In the new Legacy of Vader #8, the Knights aren't led by Kylo Ren. Despite having been their leader before The Force Awakens, this issue confirms Kylo left his Knights when Supreme Leader Snoke made him a leader of the First Order.

Shawn Levy's Starfighter Cast Finally Has Us Excited About Star Wars Again
Image
Do you remember the days when "Star Wars" movies used to be good? Not "Star Wars" in general -- the movies. "Andor" season 2 has barely stopped tugging our heartstrings with its grounded rebel stories, the well-received "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" video game was released in 2023, and Marvel is dropping sweet (and often Darth Vader-themed) comics all the time. "Star Wars" as a franchise is doing just fine. The movies, on the other hand, could use a win.

It's been close to a decade since the franchise rolled out a truly worthwhile big-screen effort -- either "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016) or "The Last Jedi" (2017), depending on your opinion...

Fans Think Billie Lourd Teased Possible Return As Princess Leia In Star Wars
Image
Some Star Wars fans believe that Carrie Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, will bring Princess Leia Organa to life soon. Fisher's last performance as Leia was for 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which premiered roughly 40 years after she first played the character in 1977's Star Wars. Lourd is the only child of Fisher's and her mom tragically died in 2016.

After she became a pivotal part of the original Star Wars trilogy's cast, she returned to Leia for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Lourd became part of the Star Wars sequel trilogy's cast when she appeared in that same film as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix. Now, some Star Wars fans...

Daniel Craig’s 97% Rotten Tomatoes Must-Watch Franchise-Starter Returns to Streaming
Image
Daniel Craig will always be known for playing James Bond, but six years ago, he starred in a critically acclaimed mystery movie that kicked off a major franchise. Craig stars alongside Chris Evans (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Ana de Armas (Ballerina) in Knives Out, the whodunnit following a world-renowned crime novelist who is found dead, leaving the eloquently spoken and inquisitive Benoit Blanc to solve the crime. Knives Out is currently streaming on Prime Video in America, but globally, the film has returned to the VOD top 10 charts in several countries.

Knives Out was adored by critics, who rated the film a “Certified Fresh” and nearly flawless 97% on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

'Deadpool and Wolverine' Are Ready to Save Their Timeline With New Funko Pop Set
Image
The most iconic scene in Deadpool & Wolverine, which Madonnareportedly had a hand in editing, is now being immortalized into plastic thanks to Funko. The Deadpool & Wolverine Time Ripper Funko set is two separate Pop figures that connect, recreating the almost-noble sacrifice scene in the 2024 feature. This is a perfect collectible, especially as this self-proclaimed "Marvel Jesus" could be returning to the MCU next year in Avengers: Doomsday.

The Deadpool & Wolverine Time Ripper sets are the latest addition to the Deadpool & Wolverine Funko collection, which previously included our dynamic duo with Deadpool variants, Wade Wilson in his DriveMax uniform, and the other mutants that joined alongside our anti-heroes in the battle of The Void.

Oscar Isaac at an event for Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
Was my memory wiped or was the Star Wars sequel trilogy just that forgettable?
Oscar Isaac at an event for Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
The Force Awakens and its follow-ups had so few memorable characters, it’s a wonder Disney – and Oscar Isaac – are still talking about potential spin-offs

There might just be a strange irony to this week’s news that Oscar Isaac, Aka the tousled X-wing pilot Poe Dameron, is up for a return to Star Wars if the script is right. Because before the actor’s comments in a new interview with Variety, it was quite possible to forget that the sequel trilogy ever existed. Was The Force Awakens really a film, or just two hours of Disney rummaging through George Lucas’s recycling bin? Did The Last Jedi split the...

Star Wars: Rey Returns in Surprising Last Jedi Sequel After 6 Years
Image
A new Audible story, set after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will tell the first new Rey story in six years. The sequel trilogy era has been largely unexplored since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's release in 2019, with recent comics finally telling Kylo Ren's story between The Last Jedi and his death. Now, Rey is about to get the same treatment.

Lucasfilm Press has announced a new Star Wars audiobook, "The Jaws of Jakku," which will release on Audible on October 9. Written by Cavan Scott and featuring narration by Helen Sadler, it's set in the immediate aftermath of The Last Jedi. Here's the official synopsis:

Star Wars Announces Rey’s 2025 Return, New Story Will Bridge The Last Jedi & Rise of Skywalker

Disney Chased Men Out of Marvel and Star Wars. Now They Want Them Back.
Image
When Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy wore a “The Force is Female” T-shirt at a 2018 Nike event, it sent a message that didn’t sit well with many Star Wars fans. The slogan, tied to a women’s empowerment campaign, suggested a shift that felt out of step with the saga’s loyal, mostly male audience. Marvel faced a similar storm, with its post-Endgame focus on heroines like She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel earning the nickname “M-She-u” from frustrated fans who felt male heroes were being sidelined.

Disney wanted to make Star Wars and Marvel more inclusive, but in doing so, they overlooked the heart of their audience. A 2024 Wrap report shows...

Disney Destroyed the Star Wars Brand in Less Than a Decade: Here’s a Timeline of Their Galactic Failures
Image
Disney’s $4.05 billion acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012 sparked hope for a revitalized Star Wars era. The deal promised to blend the franchise’s epic legacy with Disney’s blockbuster expertise. Early successes, like The Force Awakens breaking box office records, fueled global excitement. It seemed like a perfect mix of nostalgia and innovation.

Yet, this promise quickly unraveled. Strategic blunders, creative misfires, and a disregard for fan feedback plagued Disney’s approach. Prioritizing rapid output over coherent storytelling drained the brand’s vitality. The studio alienated core audiences while dismissing critics as “toxic.”

From trilogy chaos to theme park flops and streaming saturation, the once-unassailable saga now faces declining viewership.

Oscar Isaac Open To Star Wars Return As Poe Dameron Under One Condition
Image
Oscar Isaac has revealed what it would take for him to return to Star Wars as Poe Dameron. Although the Star Wars sequel trilogy proved divisive, there's no denying that it introduced compelling new characters for the next generation, some of whom never got the chance to live up to their full potential.

One such character is Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, a fiercely talented Resistance pilot with a mysterious past and a close relationship with General Leia Organa. After Poe's misguided mutiny in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the character was somewhat sidelined in the Star Wars sequel trilogy's final installment, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as the focus shifted to Rey,...

Ranking Star Wars Characters from Bantha Poodoo to Legends of the Galaxy
Image
So... Who's the Best (and Worst) Star Wars Character?

Well, today we're going to rank a large portion characters from this massive galaxy far, far away. And to be honest? I'm nervous, because I'm 100% sure I'm about to commit at lest one pop culture crime here. But hey... let's see how bad it gets

Before we get into the names themselves, let's break down the categories, from the absolute bottom of the Sarlacc pit to the shining peak of Jedi legend.

Bantha Poodoo - The lowest of the low. These are the characters who absolutely deserve to be deleted from canon. Remove them and the story wouldn't just survive...it might actually get better.

Lost in the Outer Rim - Our forgettable bunch. The ones you barely remeber existed and who added nothing to the story

Just Another Moisture Farmer - Characters you don't love, don't hate...they just exist...

A fan-favorite star from The Acolytehas shared their perspective on how the series will age over time. 2024's The Acolyte holds a 19% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it among the franchise's lowest, falling below divisive entries like The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Did You Know Natalie Portman Took A Break From Acting After Star Wars Prequels Because Critics Said She Couldn’t Act?
Image
Natalie Portman Stopped Acting After Star Wars Prequels ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

After The Phantom Menace hit theaters in 1999, it was supposed to be a return to the galaxy far away that would satisfy fans waiting nearly two decades for more Star Wars content. However, the film’s reception wasn’t exactly stellar, and the two sequels didn’t fare much better. Natalie Portman, who played Padmé Amidala, found herself in the spotlight, not just for her role but for the harsh criticism of her acting.

Despite being the only major female lead in the trilogy, the backlash was hard to escape. At just 16 years old, Portman struggled to cope with the critiques of her performance, especially when many dismissed her abilities as an actress. It wasn’t long before she took a step back from the industry to process it all and reevaluate her next move.

Game Of Thrones Star Gwendoline Christie's Movie Debut Was In A Tragic Fantasy Epic
Image
Gwendoline Christie is, of course, best known to audiences for her portrayal of Brienne of Tarth on HBO's "Game of Thrones." The actor rose to prominence on the HBO fantasy series, where her impressive 6 '3'' stature allowed her to embody the powerful and imposing Brienne introduced in George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" books, on which the show was based. Brienne was the heir to House Tarth and a warrior who aspired to knighthood, despite that honor being denied to the women of Westeros. Over the course of the series, she formed a close bond with her one-time prisoner Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who would go on to fulfill Brienne's wish and eventually knight her, making her the first female knight in the Seven Kingdoms.

Naturally, "Game of Thrones" put Christie on the radar of many fantasy fans -- and, apparently, many casting directors as well.

John Boyega Thought The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Had A Different Plan For Finn And Rey
Image
One of the biggest cautionary tales of the last decade regarding blockbuster filmmaking is the "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy. Undoubtedly, the most polarizing franchise films of the 2010s, Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, remain a major point of contention for fans of George Lucas' galaxy far, far away. Many would agree that, as individual films, the sequels may have their standout moments, but do not work cohesively as a three-film story due to a lack of planning amongst the creatives involved.

Basically, the "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy was a game of telephone with each entry, with J.J. Abrams setting up the foundation, only for Rian Johnson to answer back with "The Last Jedi" -- arguably the most divisive blockbuster of the century so far. Although Johnson was originally set to pass the torch to Colin Trevorrow, the "Jurassic World" director dropped out due to creative differences, which led to Abrams'...

‘The Last Jedi’ Star Says Star Wars Is Even More Secretive Than You Can Imagine [Exclusive]
Image
It’s been almost 10 years since the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, and one star from the film is pulling back the curtain on her experience joining the Star Wars universe. While it may be stars like Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega that get the lion’s share of the praise for the sequel movies, other stars like Hermione Corfield help fill the universe with rebel heroes that give it life.

Corfield recently caught up with Perri Nemiroff for an episode of Collider Ladies Night, and she explained how she learned more about her character’s history from fans: “Yeah, I’ve read my whole backstory. I got sent a whole backstory of the character. I’ve got my dolls. I’ve got my Lego figures. It was pretty, pretty wild.” It’s always jarring for anyone to see themselves immortalized in a lifelike figure or Lego set.

The best scene in every live-action Star Wars film

I recall watching the original trilogy every morning on the weekends before The Phantom Menace was released when I was a kid. Now fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the next Star Wars film on the big screen, The Mandalorian and Grogu in May 2026.

Fans can enjoy the 11 films from the franchise on the big screen before Din Djarin and The Child make their silver screen debut. Each Star Wars movie has one scene that fans still adore, and that is seemingly more memorable than all the rest.

Star Wars A New Hope (1977) - The Falcon escapes the Death Star

In the original film, Han and Luke battle tie fighters in an effort to escape the Death Star. It set the tone for the way each space battle would be shot and edited and coupled with John Williams cue had a sense of adventurous suspense.

John Boyega thought Finn and Rey would turn against each other in Star Wars
Image
John Boyega, known for his portrayal of Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, recently shared insights into his original expectations for his character's journey. During an appearance at Fan Expo Boston (via ScreenRant), Boyega revealed that he anticipated a storyline where Finn and Rey would develop into "dual Jedi," potentially mirroring the complex relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. He told panel attendees, “I actually thought that they would Obi-Wan and Darth Vader us a bit. That we would turn against each other or something along those lines.”

Boyega's comments shed light on the initial direction he believed Finn's character would take. In The Force Awakens, Finn is introduced as a former stormtrooper who defects from the First Order, aligning himself with the Resistance. The film hints at his potential Force sensitivity, especially during his confrontation with Kylo Ren. Boyega noted that he assumed Finn's Force abilities would be explored further,...

'Superman' & 'Sinners' Success Helps Warner Bros. Break an All-Time Box Office Record

Warner Bros. has broken a new record in 2025 thanks to the likes of Sinners,Superman, and their recent release, Weapons. The horror outing topped the box office this weekend with an impressive $43.5 million, easily besting fellow new release Freakier Friday and also taking the top spot from The Fantastic Four: First Steps in its third weekend. Superman: Dawn of Justiceto become the highest-grossing film featuring Superman.

Thanks to these successive successes, Warner Bros. is now the first studio in history to have six consecutive films earn $40 million in their debut weekends. John Boyega Talks His Badass Finn Vision for Star Wars & It Outshines the Finale We Got
Image
John Boyega, the actor who played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has been open about his frustration with how Lucasfilm handled his character. Over the years, he’s spoken in interviews about how he felt Finn’s story started with big potential but ended up being pushed aside.

When Boyega first read the script for The Force Awakens in 2015, he thought Finn was going to have a much bigger role in the overall story.

In a recent talk with ScreenRant’s Liz Declan at Fan Expo Boston, he explained that he believed Finn was being set up to be Force-sensitive and could have even been a Jedi.

Boyega said, “I think I assumed he was Force-sensitive from The Force Awakens script or at least by the time I got to the end of The Force Awakens script. I thought they were planning dual Jedis. I actually thought that...

John Boyega Reveals His Epic Vision for Finn in Star Wars & It Blows Away What We Got
Image
John Boyega, who played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has been vocal about his disappointment with Lucasfilm for several reasons, primarily centered around the handling of his character and the broader treatment of diverse actors in the franchise. Below, I’ll break down the key reasons for his frustration, using simple language and drawing from his own words and relevant sources, while keeping the tone casual but clear.

Boyega felt that Finn, a former Stormtrooper introduced as a major character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), was sidelined as the trilogy progressed. He believed Finn was set up to be a central figure, possibly even a Jedi, but his role shrank in The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

In a 2020 interview with British GQ, Boyega said, “What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more...

John Boyega's Original Vision for Finn's Star Wars Journey
Image
Star Wars star John Boyega explains what he expected from Finn's story, and it's very different from what audiences ended up getting. Released in 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens marked a new era for the franchise, introducing a host of new characters alongside some familiar favorites.

Boyega's Finn, a defecting stormtrooper, joins forces with Daisy Ridley's Rey and Oscar Isaac's Poe in The Force Awakens, eventually becoming a crucial ally in the fight against Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. Though there were teases in the 2015 film that Finn is Force-sensitive, this didn't play a big role in the subsequent movies, and his arc remains divisive.

During a recent interview with ScreenRant's Liz Declan at Fan Expo Boston, Boyega reveals that he thought Finn would have a more Jedi-oriented story following The Force Awakens. The actor explains that he thought the teases featured in...

Andy Serkis’ Planet of the Apes Franchise Is Dominating Streaming Charts

Chris Evans Once Said He Would Do Anything To Be In Star Wars Franchise, Even If He Was Just A “Stormtrooper” Or “Wookie”

Is Chris Evans eager and excited to join the Star Wars franchise? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Chris Evans in Star Wars? Now that’s something fans might not have expected. The former Captain America is out here manifesting a role in the galaxy far, far away, and honestly, why hasn’t it happened yet? The actor has already conquered the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even voiced Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s Lightyear. But there’s still one Disney checkbox left which is Star Wars.

And he’s not picky about it either. Jedi? Sith? Rebel pilot? No. Evans is down for literally anything. In an interview with MTV (via ScreenRant), the Marvel star once said: “God, would I love to be in Star Wars! God – I mean I would do anything: if I was just a Stormtrooper, I’d be thrilled. Yeah, I’ll take a Wookie though. That’s fine.

10 Forgotten Oscar-Winning Movies Every Cinephile Needs To Watch
Image
Though Louis B. Mayer created the Academy Awards as a union-busting enterprise and a bid for further studio control, they're now considered the highest honors in Hollywood. Studios put millions into Oscars campaigns for their films and stars, and Oscars commentary has become an industry in and of itself. In the Internet age, the Academy Awards now generate iconic viral moments like the memorable "La La Land" and "Moonlight" mix-up in 2017.

Even as we recognize their insignificance, it's difficult not to get invested in the outcome of the Oscars. However, as Oscar voters are fallible people, they don't always get it right. Remember when "Green Book" inexplicably won Best Picture in 2017, mirroring the "Driving Miss Daisy" controversy in 1990? The history of the Academy Awards is filled with instances of voters having very bad taste and having very good taste -- though, of course, taste is subjective.

Indeed, some Oscar winners are best left gathering dust.

Wednesday season 2 quietly recasts key character (and you didn't even notice)
Image
The first four episodes of Wednesday season 2 are now streaming on Netflix, and as expected, it's what everyone's currently watching and talking about. In the latest episodes, Wednesday heads back to Nevermore Academy and quickly becomes caught up in a new supernatural mystery.

Also joining her at the school for outcasts this season is her younger brother, Pugsley, who's just come into his abilities. Of course, it wouldn't be right if the entire Addams family didn't come to drop both Wednesday and Pugsley off for their first day of a new semester. This includes Morticia, Gomez, Thing, and Lurch. But there's something different about Lurch this season that you probably didn't notice while watching.

The beloved Addams family butler has been quietly recast, with a new actor stepping into the towering, silent role. In the first season, Lurch was played by George Burcea, a Romanian actor who is 6 feet 3 inches tall.

They're filled with hidden details, Easter eggs, and rich backstories that fans often overlook. Let's take a closer look at some of the most intriguing secrets these cantinas hold.

Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina is More Than a Dive Bar

In A New Hope, the Mos Eisley cantina where Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi meet Han Solo is officially named Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina. This Tatooine establishment was a popular spot for smugglers and bounty hunters to pick up new jobs. But, there's more to this dive bar than meets the eye. The cantina's bartender, Wuher, was not just a grumpy proprietor. Some sources suggest he had dealings with Jabba the Hutt himself.

Interestingly, Wuher's strict policy against droids, stating, "We don't serve their kind here,...

Actual, Non-Disney ‘Star Wars’ Returns to Theaters in 2027
Image
Lucasfilm announces the 50th anniversary theatrical re-release of Star Wars: A New Hope for April 30, 2027, stirring nostalgia and reigniting debate over Disney’s handling of the franchise.

In a galaxy far, far away, a cinematic milestone is set to return. Lucasfilm has officially announced that Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope will hit theaters once again on April 30, 2027, marking the 50th anniversary of the original 1977 release. It’s a rare chance for fans to experience George Lucas’s groundbreaking space opera on the big screen—and a nostalgic reminder of what made Star Wars iconic before the Disney era.

A New Hope’s Triumphant Return

The re-release is the centerpiece of Lucasfilm’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, timed just before the annual May the 4th Star Wars Day festivities. The 1977 film, starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher, redefined science fiction and built the foundation for one...

Star Wars Is Returning to Theaters 50 Years Later, But There's a Pretty Major Catch
Image
Star Wars is heading back to theaters. Disney has announced today that the beloved sci-fi masterpiece will be re-released on the big screen in 2027.

Per Variety, Disney has set an April 30, 2027, release date for the Star Wars 50th anniversary re-release. Unfortunately, despite Lucasfilm recently hosting a screening of the original print of 1977's Star Wars at a British Film Institute event, the version that will be re-released in 2027 will be the 1997 Special Edition. The Star Wars Special Edition, created for the movie's 20th anniversary, was digitally remastered and features visual shots and scenes that franchise creator George Lucas was unable to achieve back in 1977 due to financial, technological, and time constraints. The Special Edition is perhaps best known for altering who "shot first" in the scene between Han Solo and bounty hunter Greedo, a controversial change that fans are still not happy Lucas made.

Written and directed by Lucas, Star...

The Long Walk: Mark Hamill Considers His Stephen King Villain The Worst Ever After Playing The Joker
Image
Actor Mark Hamill is playing the villainous Major in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King‘s 1979 dystopian horror novel The Long Walk. In the movie, Hamill’s Major is responsible for overseeing an annual contest in a dystopian United States ruled by a totalitarian regime.

Hamill recently appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 to promote the upcoming movie, where he described why the villain is one of the worst characters he has played. Given that Hamill has already voiced the Joker in Dcau projects, calling the Major his worst character is quite the statement, and here is what Hamill had to say about his role in The Long Walk.

Mark Hamill Reveals Why His The Long Walk Villain Is One of the Worst Ever

Why Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Killed Supreme Leader Snoke
Image
The only thing about "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" that everyone can agree on is how people don't agree about it — but that's what happens when you take bold swings in a story. One of the boldest that writer-director Rian Johnson took was killing off Snoke (Andy Serkis), Supreme Leader of the First Order and master to dark warrior Kylo Ren, né Ben Solo (Adam Driver).

J.J. Abrams' "The Force Awakens" introduced Snoke as a sinister, shadowy figure, but it also largely glossed over how the galaxy had essentially returned to the status quo of the original trilogy. Snoke was clearly the film's analogue to Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), but how had this never-before seen villain climbed to such a powerful role? The vagueness made many fans assume that more information about the rise of Snoke would be revealed in the next two films.

Instead, in "The Last Jedi,...

Fantastic Four honors Jamie Christopher and Inez Shakman: Dedication explained
Image
Marvel Studios' most recent film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has arrived in movie theaters all around the world. The 37th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's already looking like it's going to be one of this year's biggest movies, which isn't surprising when you consider the franchise, star-power, and the fact that Marvel's First Family are well-known in their own right.

The film brings the iconic quartet of superheroes back to the silver screen for their third big-budget kick-off, but this is the first time their adventures have taken place within the MCU. Clearly, they are all the better off for it, as the film has quickly become the best-reviewed Fantastic Four movie yet.

Director Matt Shakman accomplished something of beauty with this one. He also took some time to feature some important dedications during the end credits of the film - including a nod to comic book...

How Star Wars became How I Met Your Mother's emotional compass
Image
In How I Met Your Mother, Barney Stinson had three true loves: suits, women, and Star Wars. The show played his obsession for laughs – especially when he judged potential partners based on whether they loved The Empire Strikes Back – but the writers weren’t just creating a quirky character trait.

For starters, Neil Patrick Harris himself is a massive fan of the galaxy far, far away, and the showrunners made that detail canon. Harris, famously a fan of all things Disney, even created epic Star Wars Halloween costumes for his family the year after Himym went off the air.

As for his on-screen character, under the surface of his cartoonish womanizing and Rulebook logic, Barney was a guy looking for connection. What better mirror than Star Wars, with its ongoing themes of family, destiny, and redemption?

Barney’s Empire obsession plays a pivotal role in the show’s dynamic. In Season 2’s “Swarl Wars,...

Rag & Bone “Men’s Project”
Mark Hamill buries grudge with Rian Johnson, explains his dark vision for Luke
Rag & Bone “Men’s Project”
Mark Hamill’s issues with Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi are well known, with the Luke Skywalker actor disagreeing with how the director made the character entirely different from the one we knew from the original trilogy, turning him into a “Get off my lawn!”-yelling curmudgeon. But eight years removed from The Last Jedi’s release and divisive reception, Hamill is ready to bury the lightsaber with Johnson.

Mark Hamill recently appeared on Jesse Thorn’s Bullseye podcast (via IGN) so he could declare that there were no more clouds in his perception of Johnson over The Last Jedi. “Here’s the thing, and I’d love to clear this up: Rian Johnson is one of the most gifted directors I’ve ever worked with. He’s amiable, he’s fun on set, he’s smart. He made a great movie. I think the staging of the stand-off between Kylo Ren,...

Bruce Willis’ Highest Rated Sci-Fi Movie by Most Hated Star Wars Director Nailed Time Travel Perfectly
Image
Director Rian Johnson is known for making one of the most disliked Star Wars movies. However, the filmmaker is also behind one of the best sci-fi movies to feature Bruce Willis. Looper is Johnson’s 2012 sci-fi thriller starring Willis that is widely considered one of the best time travel movies.

Given how notoriously difficult the concept is to nail, it is no surprise that Johnson’s take resulted in one of the best movies in Willis’ career. Here is why Looper nailed time travel and why the sci-fi movie is worth revisiting after Johnson announced his next project.

Rian Johnson’s Looper Nailed Time Travel With One Creative Choice

Directed by Rian Johnson, Looper was released in 2012, emerging as a critical and commercial success, grossing $176.5 million against a $30 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). It also currently holds a critics’ score of 93% on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

How Andy Serkis Really Feels About Snoke's Death In Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Image
If you asked a million people what they think about "Star Wars: Episode VIII -- The Last Jedi," you might end up getting a million different answers. Rian Johnson's unexpectedly complex sequel to "The Force Awakens" blew the doors open on what a "Star Wars" movie could be and proved to be a lightning rod for the most toxic members of the "Star Wars" fandom. The film's approach to what came before it is in keeping with "Star Wars" creator George Lucas' own ethos, and its defenders continue to uphold "The Last Jedi" as the most exciting entry in the franchise to come out of the Disney era.

That division even carries over to the film's cast, as the movie's actors have begun to share their own complicated thoughts and feelings about "The Last Jedi" candidly over the years. John Boyega, whose defecting former stormtrooper Finn was unfortunately sidelined...

How Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Really Felt About The Rise Of Skywalker
Image
There's nothing the internet loves more than good ol' fashioned drama, and very few franchises over the last decade or so (with the possible exception of Zack Snyder's now-defunct Dceu) have delivered more of that than "Star Wars." You can probably see where I'm going with this. When "The Last Jedi" hit theaters back in 2017, online reactions could generously be described as mixed. Real ones recognized what writer/director Rian Johnson was trying to do with the sequel film, wrapping an emotionally complex story about legacy and the weight of the past around a love letter to the overall franchise. To others, well, the blockbuster went against their expectations to such an extent that it felt like a total aberration compared to "The Force Awakens" ... until "The Rise of Skywalker" hit just two years later, at least.

Given the many, ah, curious decisions made in the grand finale to the Skywalker Saga,...

Who Is The Fisherman Killer In 2025's I Know What You Did Last Summer?
Image
This article contains spoilers for "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

If you're a casual fan of slasher films, you may think an article about who the killer turns out to be in the latest "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movie is fairly standard. Yet the property, despite its resemblance to other slasher franchises, has a few subversive tricks up its sleeve. For one thing, even though it's technically a whodunit film series carrying on the template that began in Lois Duncan's source novel, the reveal of who the killer or killers are in each film isn't typical. To wit: Ben Willis (Muse Watson) was the killer in both the original 1997 movie and its sequel, 1998's "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," which added Willis' son Will (Matthew Settle) as his accomplice. In the direct-to-video sequel "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer,...

'F1' Overtakes Controversial $275 Million Star Wars Bomb at Global Box Office
Image
After the back-to-back blockbuster success of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story around a decade ago, it seemed like the franchise was truly back. A release strategy was in motion, with fans having been conditioned to expect one film in the main saga followed by a live-action spin-off. But things came crashing down quite suddenly, when Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi divided audiences and Solo: A Star Wars Story tanked commercially following a tumultuous production. Solo, which remains one of the most expensive movies ever made, has now been overtaken at the global box office by the new sports drama F1.

Starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1 opened to positive reviews, and is on the verge of passing the $400 million mark at the worldwide box office. Like Solo, it cost around $300 million to produce. But unlike that film,...

George Lucas’ Most Disliked Star Wars Movie Went Against His Rule Despite 93% Rating
Image
Star Wars franchise creator George Lucas was notably absent from the creative process of the sequel trilogy after selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012. As a result, Lucas disliked the first installment in the new trilogy, 2015’s The Force Awakens, which relaunched the saga for a new generation.

Despite positive reactions and a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie failed to impress Lucas because it broke one of his most important rules for the franchise. Moreover, the lackluster future installments in the trilogy only proved Lucas’ point, and here is everything you need to know about his thoughts on The Force Awakens.

George Lucas Disliked Star Wars: The Force Awakens For Breaking His Franchise Rule

2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the first installment in the space opera franchise made without the direct involvement of creator George Lucas. Although Lucas had tentative plans for a sequel trilogy, they were ultimately...
