Lila wants to emulate the sexual exploits of her more experienced best friend. She fixates on a tough older guy who will "sleep with anyone" and tries to insert herself into his world, putting herself in a dangerously vulnerable situation.

Fourteen year old Lila envies the ease with which her best friend Chiara, on the cusp of her sixteenth birthday, deals with boys. Chiara has been sexually active, although she has only gone to third base with her current boyfriend, Patrick. With no experience whatsoever on the sexual front, Lila has no adult guidance with her mother having passed, and she and her father often being at odds with each other. Lila's primary exposure to sex or sexual foreplay is being the third wheel in Chiara and Patrick's outings. In her naivety, Lila believes that what she sees between Chiara and Patrick has the potential to last forever. Regardless of her total inexperience, Lila likes to portray herself as having at least gone to third base, she doing so by mimicking what she hears from Chiara and other sexually active teens. In her own mind, Lila wants to lose her virginity, despite, if she was honest with herself, being more closely emotionally mature to her twelve year old neighbor, Nate, than Chiara, Nate who would most likely be her confidante if she were to tell the truth about the issue of her sexuality. She believes the easiest candidate to be her first is Sammy, an older teen, who purportedly will sleep with anyone. As such, Lila begins to insert herself into Sammy's life, he who would not have even known who she was if she didn't do so. In doing so, Lila begins to place herself in situations where she is not emotionally mature enough to handle without being hurt in any aspect of the word.—Huggo

Fourteen-year-old Lila (Gina Piersanti) envies the ease with which her best friend Chiara (Giovanna Salimeni), on the cusp of her sixteenth birthday, deals with boys. Lila and Chiara are in the same dance class and are spending the summer preparing for a big performance. Lila is struggling in class to keep up with the other dancers like Chiara, who are much better prepared.

Although Chiara has been sexually active, she has only made it to third base with her boyfriend Patrick (Jesse Cordasco). Lila's primary exposure to sex or sexual foreplay is being the third wheel in Chiara and Patrick's outings and being an awkward bystander to the couple's public displays of affection. Lila was in the same bed with Chiara and Patrick when they went to 3rd base with each other.

In her naivety, Lila believes that what she sees between Chiara and Patrick has the potential to last forever. Lila sees Patrick stealing jewelry from Chiara's home. Patrick gets very territorial and jealous if he sees Chiara talking to any other guy.

Lila believes the easiest candidate to be her first is Sammy (Ronen Rubinstein), an older teen, who purportedly will sleep with anyone. As such, Lila begins to insert herself into Sammy's life, he who would not have even known who she was if she didn't do so. Lila aggressively pursues Sammy, going to the arcade where he works and telling friends she is in a relationship with him. She even dyes her hair red, just like Chiara. Lila pretends to smoke in front of Sammy, to make herself seem older than she actually is. Sammy is clearly not interested in Lila and sees her as just a kid, but he does not outright reject her advances, either. Lila takes Sammy with her to a secluded riverbank, but Sammy cannot understand why. He asks Lila what she wants from him.

Watching Chiara and Patrick together, Lila is increasingly desperate to lose her virginity. In doing so, Lila begins to place herself in situations where she is not emotionally mature enough to handle without being hurt in any aspect of the word.

She meets Sammy at his hangouts, when he is with his drug dealing friends who watch porn together, and who will sexually assault Lila in a heartbeat. She jokes about being a porn star herself as a career option. She is even sexually abused at one such party when one of Sammy's friends repeatedly hits Lila on her behind with a table tennis paddle board and strokes her inner thighs with the handle.

One day, Chiara makes Lila see her vagina as she had been scratching it and she wanted Lila to check if it was red or irritated. The girls continue their dance practice, with Chiara giving extra lessons to Lila. Patrick tells Chiara that she has had many more sexual experiences than him, and he won't commit to her, until they are "even". Chiara breaks up with Patrick and moves on to her next boyfriend before her birthday. At the party, Lila gets really drunk and Chiara has to help her vomit in the bathroom, where Lila passes out.

At another one, Sammy is super drunk and has sex with a random prostitute. Lila watches it and when the prostitute leaves, she undresses and lays down with Sammy. Lila's dad doesn't care that Lila stays out of house all night and comes back early morning. He doesn't inquire when Lila taunts him that she was with a guy that he knows nothing about. Lila meets Sammy at the arcade and claims that he had sex with her. Sammy says that there is no way that he was so drunk that he had sex with Lila and yet had no recollection of it. Chiara makes Lila get a medical exam, but the doctor finds out that she is not sexually active and hence had no need for a medical exam.

At one point she agrees to suck dick for Sammy and all his friends, and they all undress. But then Lila is all confused and lost. Sammy doesn't want to take advantage of her and lets her go. The question of whether Lila actually did anything sexual with the guys is left open to interpretation.

The film ends with the performance of Lila and Chiara's dance team, with visuals that underscore the rocky terrain of adolescence.
