Résumé
Reviewers say 'Culpa Mía' delves into forbidden love, family dynamics, and teenage rebellion, set against wealth and privilege. Praised for lead chemistry, action sequences, and romance, it faces criticism for clichés, unrealistic plot points, and exaggerated characters. Some find it entertaining and a good time-pass, while others call it poorly constructed and cringeworthy. The film's portrayal of taboo relationships and its comparison to franchises like 'After' spark debate.
Avis à la une
My fault is the newest Spanish teen-drama romance that feels like a mixture of Through my Window, Three Steps Above Heaven and Fast and Furious.
Noah is upset with her mother as she has to leave her boyfriend and friends and move in with her mother's new rich husband and his son Nick. Nick is a typical bad boy turns good boy, and their romance is a typical forbidden step-sibling relationship surrounded by gangsters, wannabes and rich kid problems.
The storyline is far from realistic, the dialogue is quite dull, but there is chemistry between the actors and it is entertaining enough. At least it was for me, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Culpa Mía, reminded me a bit of Through My Window (A través de mi ventana)...but with street racing, illegal fights, and a violent backstory...and I loved it! It's based on a Wattpad novel by Mercedes Ron, which after two back to back watching a of the film I went to order from Amazon (can't wait to read the book(s)).
The film has both a sexy hate to love story and action in the form of both street racing and underground fighting. It is fast-paced and beautiful filmed...leaving no trace me for boredom.
The story is about 17 year old Noah, who is brought by her newly wed mother Rafaella to live in her new stepfather's mega-mansion on the coast. There she must live with an older stepbrother named Nick. Nick's father William thinks he is this perfect golden boy, but Noah discovers that the true reality is that he is a smoking, partying, street racing, underground fighting bad boy, whose life gets Noah in trouble.
What Nick doesn't know is that his angsty beautiful new stepsister has a troubled past and a few secrets of her own.
These two clash in an epic passionate way and it was an enjoyable ride to watch. I highly recommend this to fans of romance, particularly dark romance...and I think action fans might enjoy this film as well. In fact it might just be the perfect date night film as it has a little something for everyone!
Beautiful sets, great costumes and a marvelous soundtrack too!

Okay.. i get when you turn a book into a movie and have to cut stuff out to make it work, but when you completely change key elements of the story, it doesn't work. Major plot points were missed for no reason. Some of the characters were robbed of their character development just because of this script. On the other hand; the sets, the acting, casting, that was all perfect. I think this could've been a good movie, had I not read the book first. You can't change things in the story just because you don't like how the author wrote it. If you don't like the way it's written... go find another movie to write.
Watching this movie felt like I had just randomly grabbed a new release from the romance section and started reading. The opening scenes set up nothing but cliched tropes with what seemed to be stock characters and overdone situations. Except that this story ended up being really entertaining anyway. Noah and Nick act like characters that are written instead of real teens, until they suddenly don't. I actually kind of believed that they had reasons they would end up liking each other. Instead of groaning about how they were just thrown together for the sake of the plot, I ended up caring about their relationship working out. I didn't want anything bad to happen to them, and I wasn't counting the minutes until they were off the screen. Now, the third act climax deflated much of that feeling when we get a standard action movie finale, but once it all wraps up, I was back to wanting to see the couple succeed. I don't think I would even mind a sequel, which they seemed to be planning based on the last lines of the film. I am sure that there will be a lot of people who will watch this movie who won't get caught up in the story like I allowed myself to--some viewers will just focus on the flaws, which would be easy to do. But for anyone just looking for lighter-than-air entertainment, you might have the right mindset for this one.
It really isn't that bad, especially if you're trying to relax after a long day. Just by reading the decription you get a hint what kind of movie it is.
I didn't expect some extraordinary plot, dialogue or characters. I knew it would be cheesy and cirnge and that is exactly what I needed in that moment.
It's not a masterpiece and I'm glad it isn't. This movie is my 'culpa mia' :D just like watching After.
I mean, this movie screams 'red flag' but it is just too unrealistic and I can't even identify myself with it, so I just watch it and daydream.
Put all expectations aside and enjoy in this teen love drama.
