La traversée

The recent palmares of French comedy is appalling. The large majorities are very boring, not funny, childish, badly written and for some exception : all at the time... The best of the best goes to "Bigbug" made by one of my favorite director, writter producer with some of my favorites movies of all times "Delicatessen" (OMFG !! If you haven't seen this one and like WTF movies you have to see this masterpiece !) "La cité des enfants perdus" : JP. Jeunet . And in his last opus nothing work and you can apply methodically absolutely ALL of the previously announced defaults... I stop here.

But this movie doesn't try to be funny at all cost, it just take it's time to make you really appreciate and understand the characters. It try to keep it low, simple and effective. Some of the "joke" can be missed if you don't pay attention. It's very very cool to be treated like smart people, us the audience !

And man oh man the characters are not what you would think they are, they are all lovable, cute and funny !

The story keep it simple until the end, no big twist, no revelation... juste life with intelligently written characters living small adventures we can all relate with.
