1968, Albania: An arranged marriage forces Luana to end her relationship with Agim, her first great love. In order to fulfill her father's expectations, she denies her feelings, sacrifices her love and loses much more in the process ... When Luana realizes that the Kanun - the traditional laws of Albanian society - gives men significantly more influence and opportunities, she decides to become one of them: a man. With new rights and duties - including blood revenge. The film deals with the fascinating topic of women in Albania who swear to continue their lives as men. They are only respected as men through social rituals. In return, they commit to lifelong virginity, dress like men and do men's work. The trigger for the 'sworn virgins' to decide in favor of a life as a man is not that they feel they are in the wrong body.
