A meditative masterpiece!

As a guy who has lived through the prism of the corridors and 'Aangan' as depicted in this mesmerising movie, i can vouch for the authenticity of this soothing gem. Also, the mannerisms and dialects are spot on.Everything about this movie made me nostalgic and increased the intensity of the pain. This one is for the ages!

Stunning

A visually stunning masterpiece. One of the finest films, i have seen off-late. The story of a house, its inhabitants over 2 decades is a treat to watch. The background score, cinematography, accentuates the story telling wonderfully.

Brilliantly contemplative

The storytelling here is 99% undramatic, and that's why this film is so effective. In a seemingly endless series of tableaux shots, you get to know the people of this extended family. Their stories, large and small emerge over time and it is extremely involving.

A masterpiece that's almost perfect

It was a return to past that mediated by the present, for me, it was also a meditation on that past that is lost and is dying now. Almost all of the scenes are like a painting, and none of the characters are loud or garish, but almost border on acting themselves out in their own story, as if they can see they are played themselves out and with a premonition that this is going to die away, and yet a wistful sweetness of that "gamak ghar" is just too dear to be not relished . Toward the end it gets caught in its own pace and plot, but somehow manages to finish the dirge leaving that imprint on viewers mind. A masterpiece in Maithili cinema.
