Many things come to mind when you think of the name Harlan Coben. The best-selling author's novels have been successfully adapted into TV series that have consistently topped streaming charts, but there is one particular title that might have flown under the radar — even for Coben fans. In 2023, Prime Video released Shelter, a twisty young adult thriller that received a pretty good rating. If you don't subscribe to Prime Video but have access to the British streaming platform 5, you can now watch the series for free.
The reason why Shelter may have gone unnoticed is that you hardly think of Coben when you consider watching a young adult series. However,...

A couple of months ago, we heard that Cristin Milioti (The Penguin) was in early talks to take a role in the horror film The Backrooms, which is based on a series of viral videos. We were cautioned that Milioti’s involvement with The Backrooms was only 50-50 at that point, so it wasn’t entirely surprising when it came out that Milioti wouldn’t be in that movie after all. Last week, it was revealed that Milioti is currently working on a different horror project, an independent horror thriller titled Buddy, from director Casper Kelly. Kelly was behind another viral sensation, the 11 minute short Too Many Cooks, which blew a lot of minds when it was released in 2014. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Milioti is joined in the cast of Buddy by Topher Grace (The Waterfront).
Details on the characters Milioti and Grace are playing have not been shared.

FX’s The Bear Season 4 has been out for a week streaming on Hulu.
The series, which was renewed for a fifth season yesterday, has become known for its needle drops as well as its rotation of guest stars each season. While she didn’t have a song featured in Season 1, the show has come to include at least one Taylor Swift song since Season 2, because it wouldn’t be a heartfelt moment for Ebon Moss Bachrach’s Richie and his daughter without help from the songstress.
Season 2 of the show contained “Love Story” in the seventh episode, “Forks,” and Swift’s “Long Live” was featured in Season 3.

The popular and prolific author's latest novel-turned-series, Caught, was released on the streaming behemoth today, Wednesday, March 26, 2025. And with its arrival, so too, comes some insight from Coben himself on his other projects currently in the works, Runaway and I Will Find You.
In new reporting from Variety, Coben let a few details slip about the forthcoming projects. Namely, that the Minnie Driver, James Nesbitt, and Ruth Jones-starring Runaway is already in production in England, and that the Sam Worthington-frontedI Will Find You will begin shooting even sooner than you think! Unfortunately, the update did not include any details on his Myron Bolitar television series with equally-as-prolific (and beloved!) television creator David E. Kelley.

You might be a fan of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows like Missing You, Fool Me Once, and The Stranger, but most fans of those shows probably don't know about one of Coben's other shows, Shelter, was canceled on Prime Video after one season. And, it was a big mistake.
Harlan Coben's Shelter premiered on Prime Video on Aug. 18, 2023. The series ran for eight episodes through Sept. 22, 2023. The series was created by Harlan and Charlotte Coben and starred Jaden Michael, Abby Corrigan, Adrian Greensmith, Sage Linder, Brian Altemus, and Constance Zimmer.
The series tells the story of Mickey Bolitar (Michael) who investigates the disappearance of his girlfriend in a mysterious small town. You might recognize the name Bolitar if you're a fan of Coben's works.
For me, there are two main reasons (and a lot of little ones) why canceling Shelter was a bad move for Prime Video.

Exclusive: Apple TV+ has landed for development Dilettante, a series starring Jeff Daniels as a character that will likely get the New York media circles buzzing, Deadline has learned. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Berlanti Productions, is inspired by Dana Brown’s memoir about working for former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter.
Written by Brown and Julia creator Daniel Goldfarb, Dilettante is described as a fictionalized coming-of-age story set in the glamorous and cutthroat “Golden Age” of magazines in 1990s New York.
Daniels will play a fictional magazine editor that is certain to draw parallels to Carter the way another work of fiction about a young assistant to a powerful New York magazine editor, the movie The Devil Wears Prada, has been evoking Anna Wintour as a prototype for its editor character played by Meryl Streep.
Jeff Bridges previously played a magazine editor loosely based on Carter...

The following contains major spoilers from FBI Season 7, Episode 11, "Shelter," which debuted Tuesday, Feb. 10 on CBS.
FBI Season 7, Episode 11, "Shelter" has the potential to be a great episode, but the CBS procedural simply runs out of time to make that happen. Harlan Coben's next series on Netflix will be Run Away. The eight-episode series will be based on Coben's book from 2019. And just like with everything else Coben, you know you are going to want to see it. The recently announced cast will certainly make that a possibility.
The plot involves a father, Simon, whose eldest daughter, Paige, runs away. Simon searches for her (of course!) but finds her high on drugs in a city park. The story does not end there, though. Simon thinks Paige is alone, but she isn't, and violence ensues. He loses his daughter all over again, and his new search for her sends him into an underworld that could tear their family apart.
But who is playing Simon and who is playing Paige? That is what you really want to know, right? Good news! We now know all that information.

Netflix‘s next Harlan Coben adaptation has set its cast with James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver and Alfred Enoch leading the ensemble.
The eight-episode series Run Away follows Simon (Nesbitt), who seemingly had the perfect life. But then, his eldest daughter Paige ran away and everything fell apart. When he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home.
“But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence,” a plot synopsis reads. “In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.”
In keeping with previous Coben adaptations Fool Me Once and Missing You, Run Away will relocate the story from the U.S. to the U.

Across “Lemon Tree,” “The Syrian Bride” and “Shelter,” Israeli filmmaker Eran Riklis has built a sturdy body of work, telling defiant stories of Middle Eastern women from different walks of life. With “Reading Lolita in Tehran” — a moving adaptation of Iranian-American author and professor Azar Nafisi’s memoir — he adds an understated, yet generally absorbing and similarly minded entry to his oeuvre, warmly transposing Nafisi’s experience in the post-revolution Iran onto the screen with sensitivity.
Unfolding in episodic segments and significant jumps in time that sometimes feel too abrupt, the screenplay by Marjorie David follows Nafisi (an expressive Golshifteh Farahani) across a 24-year period, after the young academic holding a fresh American degree settles in Tehran with her husband Bijan (Arash Marandi) in 1979, on the heels of the country’s Islamic Revolution. A title card at the start contextualizes the couple’s return to their homeland. Historically, it was...

Reese Witherspoon is adding “published author” to her résumé.
Ben Sevier, president & publisher of Grand Central Publishing, announced Wednesday the acquisition of a new suspense novel by Witherspoon and best-selling author and TV creator Harlan Coben.
The novel is Witherspoon’s debut and is based on her original idea. In addition to writing and publishing the novel, a screen adaptation is also in development.
Witherspoon said in a statement, “To say I am a fan of Harlan’s body of work is a massive understatement … the fact that he found my idea for this thriller intriguing enough to want to partner with me on it as co-author is a dream becoming a reality. Scheming with Harlan on how to thrill audiences with mysterious characters and complex narrative twists and turns has already been more fun than I can describe. I can’t wait for everyone to read what we have been imagining.

Eddie Huang, creator of ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat comedy, is set to open the Toronto Film Festival’s TIFF Docs sidebar with a world premiere for Vice is Broke, a documentary about the rise and fall of Vice Media.
Huang will chronicle events leading up to Shane Smith’s Vice Media, a scrappy media player once valued at $5.7 billion, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2023 to open the way for a sale of the company.
There’s also world bows in Toronto’s documentary strand for Blue Road – The Edna O’Brien Story, directed by Sinéad O’Shea, who did hours of interviews with the legendary Irish novelist in the last year of O’Brien’s life; Jen Gaiten and Screwball doc maker Billy Corben bringing Men of War, about a former U.S. Green Beret caught up in a failed 2020 coup to remove Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro; and...

Ex-gop Congressman Adam Kinzinger, a prominent critic of Donald Trump, will get a major platform at the Toronto International Film Festival just weeks before the U.S. presidential election.
TIFF announced its full documentary lineup this morning and among the standouts is The Last Republican, about Kinzinger’s vigorous repudiation of the former president after the January 6 insurrection. It’s a world premiere at TIFF, directed by Steve Pink – best known for the comedy Hot Tub Time Machine.
“That’s probably not a director you expect to see in TIFF docs,” admits Thom Powers, the festival’s chief documentary programmer. “Kinzinger served on the January 6th Congressional Committee alongside Liz Cheney, chose not to run again as a congressman because he could see the political writing on the wall. But he chooses to give access to a Hollywood left winger in Steve Pink to tell his story. And why does...
