Avis à la une
I'm a huge fan of Bionicle when it first appeared as a Lego creation. The movie previews didn't appeal to me at first, but when I did watch it, I'm glad I did! The story line is a bit young, but the over all effect is fantastic! The characters each have their own unique personalities, which can be related to while watching. The animation is absolutely brilliant, I would love to work on something like that.
If you loved the movie, then I suggest reading the books of Bionicle. Their short and easy to understand, but they are a good read.
My favourite character would be Tahu and Jaller. Tahu, the brave but impatient hero, leads the group but can cause trouble along the way.

First I need to say that I know way more about Bionicles that any adult should. I have an autistic son and anyone who knows autism knows that obssessive compulsive behavior comes with it. Well, his obsession (one of them anyway) is Bionicle. I know their names, their skills, where they come from, you name it. You can't go into any room in my house without stepping on a Bionicle. Anyway, I of course had to get the dvd the day it came out and was as excited as my son to watch it. The animation is first rate for a direct-to-video movie. Of course it's not Pixar but it wasn't supposed to be. The storyline is somewhat juvenile and you definately need to know the backstory to know what the heck is going on but the target audience is juveniles who know the story. All in all I liked it. After repeated viewings I'm getting a little tired of it but my son and our other kids do enjoy it and I think it's a well made movie that delivers what it promises. It never claims to be more than it is and from what I've seen on tv and the web, they aren't trying to push it on anyone other than Bionicle fans. I have to give LEGO some credit for that. They know who is going to like it and they're happy with that.
If you or your kids like the toys then the movie is for you. If you don't, well, wait for Finding Nemo.

This movie is a twist between Lord of the Rings and Warriors of Virtue. The concepts are similar, yet this movie has it's own uniqueness as well. I enjoyed it, though it seemed to not take its time toward the end. 7.8 out of 10.
i guess i didn't mind this movie.i mean,it is enjoyable and the animation is well done.the story is simple, yet muddled at times,if that makes any sense.there are a lot of different characters in this one,and it's kind of hard to keep track,at times.there is lots of action and adventure.i found the ending anti-climatic.this is the first of three movies in the "Bionicle series",and though i haven't seen the 2nd and 3rd yet,i suspect this one is a stand alone adventure.anyway,it's an entertaining 3D animated movie, though i wouldn't call it stellar,by any means.it's pretty fast paced, but short in its running time(less than 80 minutes.nevertheless,i think there are many more positives than negatives.i'm giving "Bionicle: Mask of light" a 7/10
This is a very good film! This movie is more than just a toy commercial, it has great action, CGI, characters, design, story, etc. This film is part of the BIONICLE franchise, so of course who wouldn't like this movie? The problem with this film is people look at the CGI and think it looks awful, at todays standards it kinda is. However back in the day this CGI was AMAZING for its time! I will admit that this movie is nowhere near perfect, as it has its downs. I definitely recommend this one. I've noticed how when people upload this film on YouTube, the quality is not the same. In fact the quality is usually much more worse. If you want to watch it with better quality than I recommend buying the DVD instead of the watching the poor quality uploads on YouTube. Overall this film is great, if you get the chance you definitely should watch this film.
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesAt the beginning of the Kolhii match, the competitors salute each other by saying "play well." Lego, the company that produced the Bionicle toys, takes its name from the Danish phrase "leg godt", which means "play well".
- GaffesA 'miniature' Turaga Nuju appears in front of Turaga Vakama near the end, at the Kini-Nui temple when Hahli is holding her speech. His size suggests that he should have been animated behind the crowd. When this shot is repeated again, the goof still shows.
- Crédits fousToward the end of the credits, a sentence written in Matoran script appears. It reads: "No Rahi were harmed in the making of this film". ("Rahi" is a term that refers to Mata-Nui's fauna.)
- Versions alternativesIn Germany, the movie was marketed towards very young children, and many frightening or intense scenes got removed or edited. These include:
- Most shots of the Rahkshi opening their headplates to reveal their tentacled faces, with the exceptions of the brown Rahkshi roaring for a second time after Tahu surrounds it with fire, the white Rahkshi screeching as Takua and Pewku approach it in Onu-Koro, the red and black Rahkshi moving about in Onu-Koro, and the white and black Rahkshi screeching as they're defeated at the end.
- Tahu's swords landing next to Jaller.
- Makuta creating the first three Rahkshi.
- The green Rahkshi's hand rising out of the destroyed shrine.
- Much of the siege on Ta-Koro is cut, including the Rahkshi menacing its people, Gali grabbing Hahli out of harm's way, and most of Tahu's fight with the green Rahkshi. The editing is very choppy, with Tahu inexplicably lying on the ground with the green Rahkshi over him, then their positions being suddenly reversed without showing how any of this happened.
- The shot of the three Rahkshi flying toward Takua and Jaller inside the ice crevice is cut, as is the following shot of them flying over Kopaka's unconscious body. Strangely, the former shot is repeated a few seconds later.
- Makuta's eyes floating in the darkness after Takua turns down his offer.
- Pohatu and Onua engaging the three new Rahkshi only to be beaten by them is cut entirely.
- The poisoned Tahu attacking Gali. The scene cuts just as Tahu gets up.
- The Rahkshi ambushing and climbing after Takua on the "chimney" is cut, and so is Pohatu pinning the red Rahkshi to the wall. A wipe effect jumps to the scene of the two remaining Rahkshi running toward Pohatu and Onua, making it appear this is the first time they fight.
- Jaller being killed by fear power is shortened, Makuta only says "Fear me" once.
- Jaller's death scene is severely shortened. The moment when Jaller dies is cut, but the audio is heard. Takua looking at his body with sorrow is cut and his subsequent closeup is also shortened.
- The Kraata worm slithering into Makuta's lair.
- Much of Makuta's fight with Takanuva is cut.
