    Bionicle3 was a great sequel

Bionicle was great after watching it and while the show just keeps you wanting to watch it again and again The character detail are good and this time i finally get to see a huge scale battle well its actually the part where the 4 Toa Hordika fight with more than thousands of Visorak and when there was a great explosion when the legendary Kitanggu fell from the tower Overall the animation is great, the environment the character details are nicely done and the movie is good as it follows most parts of the book well I'm not really sure of that because i don't read them but thats n ot the point what I'm also curious ids that why are people voting the movie but their votes aren't good enough since overall its 5.0 out of 10 i mean come on its a good movie isn't it?

    A let down

After the first two Bionicle films, this instalment was a let down. It's not so much the fault of the filmmakers as it is the overall 2005 storyline that is flawed. It goes into a complete tangent with a storyline that just slows down the overall arc, a "dark" style that seems mishandled and betrayals/decisions that are completely out of character.

just as good as the 1st two and a bit better in some respects

this 3rd movie in the "Bionicle" series is pretty good entry.just like the 2nd one is as good as the 1st,this one is as good as the 2nd.i really like the fact that the villain is very strong in this one and quite malevolent.more so than the two previous entries.the action is also pretty good, plus we have some double crossing, backstabbing going on to elevate the proceedings.i also like the wise old sage.i thought he was very likable.another thing i like is the different kinds of creatures in this one.as well, this movie is quite a bit darker in tone than the first two.there is more of a sense of danger and jeopardy.the other two lacked that element at least to a certain extent.the only other real complaint i have with this installment is that there were a few too many lulls in the story, with not enough going on.other than that i enjoyed it.i give Bionicle" 3:Web of Shadows" a 7/10

    Completely Underrated

As a completely nutty Bionicle fan who has managed to collect all the comics and most of the products as well as being a true member of the Kanoka club, I was looking forward to seeing the only Bionicle film I had not yet viewed. Of course, I already knew the plot line through reading the comics and the story's but nevertheless thanks to Greg Farshteys imaginative brain this still managed to dazzle me. When you've got a theme like Bionicle, and they make a straighttovideo film , the chances are your parents are not going to rate this film highly. But I think that these 3 films are completely underrated in that the animation is sweetly edited and the story lines are superb. Bionicle 3:web of shadows is the most popular of the Bionicle films in that it uses the greatest bionicle adventures theme as a storyline and that it's animation manages to capture an atmosphere so eerie it could even surpass the PG ratings. Bionicle 2 is still the best crafted film in terms of editing and the mask of lights is the most "fun" but this one contains the best storyline in my opinion.

As for me, I can't wait for Bionicle 4 to come out as it should involve the immense Piraka and the beautiful Voya Nui and the Bionicle Legends in my opinion is the best. Can't wait for that and overall good film. The Visorak rock! The Toa Hordika Rock! Roodaka does not rock!

    Unity, Duty and Destiny

Here it is, another fabulous movie of the Bionicle Series. The animation is fantastic, the characters admirable in different ways - a pleasure to watch again and again! The one thing I love about this movie, and all the Bionicle movies, is that they always come out with a cool story line, never repeated with the other movies. It's always original.

I love how it stays true to the books, and how it always stays close to the 'good over evil' back-bone story line. It's great for kids, but I'm a teenager and I love all the Bionicle movies! It's suitable for all ages, so why not just see it - it won't let you down.

    • Anecdotes
The film originally had more humor in earlier scripts, much of which was deleted for the final cut:
      • Matau had different nicknames for his fellow Toa: "Red" for Vakama and "water baby" for Nokama. His romantic infatuation with Nokama would have been referenced more times. In the final film, it was entirely dropped.
      • When the Toa are paralyzed and fall on top of each other, Whenua's butt lands in Matau's face, causing him much grievance.
      • An running gag was removed involving a Visorak called "Trundle" (an early name for Kollorak) being hindered by guards on his way to Sidorak's chamber. The guards repeatedly ask for a password, only for Trundle to get increasingly agitated and remind them that there is no password.
      • As the mutated Toa burst from their cocoons and seemingly fall to their doom, Onewa tries to say something profound as his final words, but all he can think of is "Uh... bye."
      • In reference to his ugly mutated appearance, Matau would have remarked "my top looks like my bottom." He then snaps at Vakama, blaming him for their mutations and asking if Vakama plans to get them turned into toasters next time.
      • After Norik introduces Keetongu's name, Matau replies "Gesundheit." This was changed to Onewa mishearing Keetongu as "Key to Nongu."
      • When Matau asks where a "big, ugly thing" like Keetongu could be hiding, Nuju insultingly responds with "Perhaps you could tell us?", prompting the others to burst into laughter.
      • As the Toa guard the Great Temple, Matau's animal side begins to take over and he instinctively tries to dig a hole as a nest. He also talks to Nokama (the female Toa) about their bestial "urges" and asks her if she has any urges that involve him. The scene then ends and we don't find out her answer. Since this scene had a slight sexual undertone, it got cut, but it's included in the movie novelization. This cut gag is referenced later when Nuju says that he "found the sounds of the night fascinating," which embarrasses Matau and he quickly changes the subject.
      • When Norik explains the nature of the Toa's mutations, Whenua says he finds his mutated tool-hand "kind of cool." In the actual movie, he has the exact opposite reaction and is afraid of being permanently mutated.
      • When Norik and the five Toa set out to find Keetongu, Onewa accidentally wanders off into the wrong direction before Nuju points him north. In the finished film, they need to go south instead.
      • When Keetongu cuts off the Visorak from the ascending Toa in the Coliseum to deal with them himself, Onewa quips "Suckers!" but slams into a wall. The scene in the film plays out differently, Keetongu is not present.
    • Gaffes
The supposed reflection of Matau in the water is not a mirrored image, so it looks just like the original Matau. This is because it's not really a reflection: we are seeing Matau through the water.
    • Citations

Norik: And what about your friends?

      Vakama: Former friends.

      [scoffs]

Vakama: They think being a leader is so easy, they can try it themselves.

    • Crédits fous
Spiderwebs run along the edges of the credits, with Visorak sitting on them, some snapping at the titles. At one point, two Visorak fight each other, with one shoving the other off the webbing, then clapping its pincers victoriously.
    • Versions alternatives
The German release was subjected to a total of 55 cuts, with the movie's running time being decreased by 9 minutes and 2 seconds, a seventh of the original running time. The reason for these alterations is that in Germany, the movie was targeted towards a younger audience (ages 6 and up). Unfortunately, almost all of the cut parts were integral to the plot and pacing, and without them the story makes very little sense. The deleted parts include the following:
      • Vakama's hand rising out of the sea (this shot was however included in the trailer)
      • the Toa ducking when some animals fly overhead
      • the Toa getting struck down by the Visorak and falling on top of each other
      • the Visorak screeching in the distance and approaching the fallen Toa, with the closeups of the Visorak jaws
      • Sidorak looking over the captured Toa is shortened
      • Roodaka demanding for the Toa's corpses
      • two Visorak fighting on their webs, with one of them falling to its doom
      • the transformation of the Toa into mutant Toa Hordika and bursting out of their cocoons
      • the Muaka roaring at Vakama
      • Vakama trying to fire back at the Visorak attacking him and his launcher getting hit by a blast
      • some TV airings cut the scene of Roodaka convincing Vakama to join her by commanding a group of Visorak to commit suicide. This sequence is included in the regular German cut.
      • Vakama stalking and attacking Norik in the Great Temple
      • Sidorak's line "We do not welcome your kind here. We exterminate it." was cut down to "We do not welcome your kind here." Oddly, on the German DVD's English audio track, the line's other half got cut and Sidorak only says "We exterminate it."
      • Vakama roaring at the assembled Visorak horde and the Visorak screeching back at him
      • the rest of the Toa marching into the Coliseum to rescue Vakama
      • the Visorak swarming into the Coliseum, encircling the Toa
      • Vakama ordering the Visorak to open fire on the Toa
      • Onewa lagging behind as the Toa fly up using their energy spinners
      • the Visorak stalking the Toa on the statue they land on, then the Toa jumping down
      • the door Roodaka and Sidorak walk through closing in, followed by the jumpscare of a Visorak lunging at Whenua
      • Whenua defeating the Visorak by drilling out its teeth and punching it in the air
      • the brainwashed Vakama blasting Matau with an energy spinner
      • Nuju "hitching a ride" on the back of a Visorak is shortened, the closeups of the Visorak's head are cut
      • Sidorak trying to hit Keetongu with an energy beam is shortened, he only shoots him once as opposed to making several failed attempts
      • Keetongu falling to the floor after Roodaka successfully blasts him, causing a giant shockwave
      • most of Vakama's duel with Matau is cut, including throwing him against a wall and blasting him with a spinner
      • Vakama's moment of victory, thinking he has blasted Matau off the balcony is cut, as is Matau's hand rising over the edge. Instead, it looks like Matau immediately grabbed a hold of the balcony's edge.
      • Nokama's and Whenua's brush with a few Visorak spiders is cut, as is Whenua giving Nokama a helping hand. Two separate shots of Nokama jumping are combined into one to bridge over the cuts.
      • Keetongu smashing Sidorak
      • Nokama hooking her weapon around the leg of a Visorak and getting dragged by it
      • Onewa having a duel with a blue Visorak
      • Vakama stepping on Matau's hand and calling him weak, with Matau reluctantly agreeing, however nor Vakama's response, nor him taking his foot off Matau's hand are removed
      • Whenua smashing a Visorak on the head and another screeching at him
      • the scene of Nuju running from some Visorak is shortened and the following shots of another Visorak throwing him near the rest of his fellows is cut, making it look like he suddenly teleported elsewhere
      • a giant Rhotuka blast downing the Toa and the Rahaga is cut, so they simply appear lying on the ground without explanation
      • Roodaka getting hit and energized by the Toa's powers
      • Vakama's blast hitting Roodaka and Roodaka falling to the ground
      • the Makuta awakening and his shadow-hand appearing out of Roodaka's heartstone to teleport her away
