In New York City, Jackie works for his grandfather's courier service. His grandfather sends him on assignment to take a package to the "Temple of the Shaolin". While having dinner at a cafe, Jackie's grandfather is kidnapped along with the package by henchmen, working for an unknown boss. Jackie tries to chase them down, but loses them. Now he has to journey to areas of the city to find his grandfather and the package before its too late. The game is an action adventure beat 'em up platformer with a hub area from which Jackie can access the game's levels, mostly inspired by dockside locations. Each level has its own subsections. Enemies include thugs, henchmen and bosses. Jackie can pick up and use breakable objects as melee weapons. Each level contains pick ups including health items, additional lives, red dragon heads and a gold dragon head, some of which are hidden. Once the player collects all gold dragon heads and beats the Shaolin Temple bonus level with a good score, a short bonus behind-the-scenes FMV clip of Jackie himself talking about the making of the game plays. The game's story is told through FMV CGI cutscenes. The final cutscene hints at a sequel that never happened.
