The Valiant here is a very competent knight unlike the one portrayed by Robert Wagner in the 1954 film who was nothing short of a bumbling fool who managed to have accidents just when he seemed to be getting the upper hand (e.g. losing his hold on a cliff as he was espying the traitorous transactions of the Black Knight with Norse marauders). Only the superb acting of James Mason as the villainous Black Knight made that older version interesting.
The fight scenes in this Prince Valiant were well executed. Kudos to the arms master for the handsome suits of armor and weapons.
The actress who portrayed Princess Ilene is stunning.
Sure, a king Arthur remindind Charles I Stuart, a young Stephen Moyer in a role not so comfortable ( not only for him ) but behind Prouix or Bill Compton , a young and nice Katherine Heigl behind Izzie Stevens and chain of romantic comedies and Warwick Davis more than seductive. And, sure, excalibur , near the impressive crocodiles. So, what expect more ?
The result, a sort of gratitude and nice veil of nostalgia, near some good smiles.

- AnecdotesIn his autobiography Size Matters Not: The Extraordinary Life & Career of Warwick Davis, Warwick Davis, an actor in the film, called it an "absolute disaster" which was "premiered, panned and bombed," and "even the wonderful Joanna Lumley---who still managed to put in an amazing performance as Morgan le Fay---couldn't save it." He blames this on the director Anthony Hickox, who he says "seemed intent on partying all night long and giving roles to his friends."
- GaffesWhen Lady Ilene is first introduced into the harem, they tell her that she's Thursday. She says, "That's today," but her mouth says, "That's tomorrow."

Princess Ilene: I demand to see your king.
Thagnar: Harem.
Prince Gawain: What? You can't do that she's a princess.
Princess Ilene: Who the hell is harem?
[she's thrown into a room full of other woman]
Woman #1: [giggles] I wonder if she's a virgin.
Princess Ilene: Of course I'm a virgin. I'm Princess Ilene of Brenwyn.
Woman #2: We all had kingdoms once. Now we are all queens for a night.
[Ilene looks around scared]
Monday: I am Monday.
Tuesday: I'm Tuesday.
Wednesday: I'm Wednesday.
Monday: And you're Thursday.
Princess Ilene: That's today. He wouldn't dare touch a princess.
[now very unsure]
Princess Ilene: Would he?
