    Shield dog or sword dog?

To be in Pokemon equivalent of England is a fun and is pretty place , I really enjoyed that the game stays within its memes and doesn't try to be too Openworld.

One problem, I had with the game is that the cut scenes are unskippable, so when you're playing a challenge with your friends, which I think this game is very fun for, but you have to watch cut scenes again and again, that is bad.

I think the game is a bit too easy, but i can say that about all Pokemon games, so if you don't put your own challenge in it, then you're not gonna have much fun, but this one is so good to make challenge runs for, because of the party XP mechanic. And because of the open spaces with a verity of pokemons.

Gifts the game a lot of character that, gym leader arenas are like a big football stadium, it just feels like the most important things in the world, it has subject good music to , It's my favorite part of the game.

It's a bit on rails it has unskippable, but I had a good time with my friends playing it, it has enough charm to be worth playing.

    I love Sword and Shield!

I played and finished Sword, and it was amazing! GameFreak did a fantastic job with Galar's open word graphics! They've even added new camping features to the game. And what else is great is that you get to encounter wild Pokemon without random encounters! You could see them anywhere you go! I hope the Sword and Shield anime goes well.

Would be greatest Pokémon game to date, but falls short

A lot of reviewers are upset and are going to spam 1/10 on every site they can because they are missing the National Dex in the game. The game isn't built around having all your previous Pokémon in the game. The gameplay is a good as ever (if not a little on the easy side), the animations are great, the region is diverse and the introduction of a host of features means a big step forward for the franchise.

Do I think game freak messes up by not including every pokeMom from previous gens in the game? Maybe. But the game surely doesn't deserve anything less than a 5/10.

I've enjoyed this game all the way through to where I am now (7th gym). I would recommend to friends who play Pokémon.

    Kickoff of a new era

10 out of 10 - A Bold, Energetic Evolution for the Franchise

Pokémon Sword isn't just another entry in the long-running series - it's a full-blown declaration that Pokémon can grow, evolve, and adapt while still keeping its core heart intact. The Galar region brought new energy, an iconic vibe, and a bold, stadium-scale sense of scale that made battles feel larger than life.

    The World of Galar

Inspired by the United Kingdom, Galar feels alive - a perfect mix of industrial charm, wild nature, and strong regional identity. The Wild Area alone was a game-changer. Full of dynamic weather, real-time exploration, and huge roaming Pokémon, it redefined what it meant to "go on a journey."

The gyms? Legendary. Each one felt like an event, complete with roaring crowds, themed music, and Dynamax battles that turned fights into spectacles.

The Characters Hop may have seemed like the typical rival at first, but his journey to self-worth and stepping out of his brother's shadow? Underrated and relatable.

Marnie brought edge, mystery, and her own fanbase - literally, with Team Yell.

Bede started arrogant but had a true arc of humility and rebirth.

Leon was the kind of Champion that actually felt like a final boss - charismatic, strong, and respected across the region.

And then there's Chairman Rose... a surprisingly nuanced villain, driven not by evil but by misguided urgency. His decision to awaken Eternatus may have been catastrophic, but it came from a fear of the future - not a lust for power.

    The Pokémon

The Galar Pokédex gave us instant icons: Corviknight - a steel-winged knight and the GOAT regional bird.

Dragapult - ghost-dragon stealth bomber vibes? Yes, please.

Toxtricity, Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon all brought serious attitude to the starter lineup.

And of course, Zacian - Sword in mouth, regal as hell, and one of the most majestic legendaries in franchise history.

    Why It Deserves a 10/10

Sword took risks - cutting the National Dex, shifting toward open-area exploration, and introducing the Dynamax system. And for that, it took heat. But it still landed. It pushed Pokémon forward without losing its soul.

Visual style felt warm and alive.

Music? Some of the best in the series.

Postgame and DLCs like The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra added real weight and replayability.

Final Word: Pokémon Sword dared to shift the formula and pulled it off. Galar is full of heart, character, and power. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the journey, this game made it clear: Pokémon is still king.

10 out of 10 - A worthy sword raised high.

Let me know if you want to jump into Shield, Scarlet/Violet, or classic Gen talk next.

Reasonable fun but a bit lazy

Changing my review since playing the game more.

Pokemon Shield is a nice looking game, with some cool new designs. It is easy to play and fairly enjoyable. One can easily chill for a while just running around.

But having sad that. The game ultimately felt ... lazy.

There is so much potential in pokemon. But they revert to the same tired formula again and again. It worked in the 90s but today we have all this unrealised technology to bring a truly open and challenging game. Both in world building and exploration to the pokemon themselves.

Another negative is that the story itself is a let down. It takes mediocre and boring to the next level. There is zero depth or interest.

As a child's game it is pretty decent. But if you want to capture the adult market (and lets face it, pokemon is largely a nostalgia brand now) you need to bring more to the table.
