Soundproof

Looked beautiful, with beautiful performances. I am an actress and watch a lot of low budget stuff, some being very melodramatic. Although even with tense scenarios going on here, there was a real integrity to some of the performances. I also like the fact that the main female character is quite flawed. It's good to see women who aren't so stereotypical. The young girl in it has a great face and goes a good job at portraying conflicting emotions. I enjoyed the music and felt that the sex scene was really tender as well. I am really over gratuitous tits and ass shots personally and this kind of stuff shows that sex scenes can be done really well without a nipple in sight.

Been waiting a while to watch this, and really enjoyed it! - I had heard it had done well at some UK festivals and was pleased to see it truly lived up to and exceeded my expectations! - Fast moving, gritty and exciting, just what I was after.

What a fantastic production from a little known cast - with truly believable acting from all the main characters, including and especially Ellie and Gabe. - Great to see what can come out from an unknown writer and and indeed first time directing!

This is low budget indie film at its best! - Would recommend to anyone after some action, with a fast pace and some bold acting!

I watched this purely based on the high praise received in several reviews. I generally avoid "low budget" and I very much avoid "low budget British" as they tend to be "not very good". Gritty, real life, real people, intense type films don't really interest me. However I thought I'd be open minded and supportive (based on the reviews) and give it a go. Needless to say I'm writing this review now and (hang on)... there are still over 20 minutes to go. The 73 minutes that have gone so far could have been covered in about 10. That's how slow it is. I honestly don't care what happens to any of the people in it. If they all end up dead I think that's fine. As long as something actually happens. 18 minutes left. Nothing yet...

This is a thrilling watch, the tone of the movie is generally hard hitting and at times quite a dark and gritty drama but well balanced with humour and some beautiful locations. The intimacy and intensity of the mobile home and in-car scenes mixed with the sweeping shots of the lake and surrounding post-apocalyptic structures are a visual treat.

Above all, the casting / acting is fantastic. The raw talent and actors' abilities to uplift this film from an aesthetically pleasing flick to a thoroughly captivating indy movie, kept me on the edge of my seat.

I can't wait to see what the director and actors have in store for us next!

Soundproof is exactly the sort of film I love. It's a completely believable story, character driven, yet suspenseful. Great performances from all the cast, particularly the two young actors, Ellie Bindman and Gabe Robinson. I like the way that the film moved to some interesting locations and really used them to develop the plot.

It just goes to show how good a small-budget indie film can be. I wasn't surprised to read that Soundproof has won awards at film festivals in the UK and abroad. I would recommend Soundproof to anyone who enjoys their films grounded in reality and I will certainly be giving it a second viewing.
