Avis à la une
Destroy All Neighbors is a fun little movie about a young prog-rock musician who is struggling to release his newest album and after his new neighbor Vlad keeps being loud and annoying, he goes to confront him. From there on an absurd and fun journey begins.
The movie uses some great practical work and is equipped with a unique and interesting story. There's lots of bloody carnage and the humor is great making the movie actually funny at times. There's even a fun cameo by Kumail Nanjiani in this. Alex Winter as Vlad did an amazing job and his character is already iconic in my opinion.
However this movie is not flawless, since the story's pacing seems off at times and there are several plot holes. The overall production seems rather cheap but it looks like they made the most out of it and overall I think this was a decent horror comedy that reminded me of some stuff from the 80s. [5,6/10]

I recently watched Destroy all Neighbors (2024) on Shudder. The storyline centers around a music producer dealing with a frustrated live-in girlfriend and a noisy, manipulative neighbor. When the producer confronts the neighbor due to incessant noise, things take a deadly turn.
This picture is directed by Josh Forbes (Contracted: Phase II) and stars Jonah Ray (Satanic Hispanics), Kiran Deol (Sunnyside), Kumail Nanjiani (Stuber), Kumail Nanjiani (The Lost Boys) and Phil Hendrie (F is for Family).
Despite the potential, the storyline falls short. However, the horror elements shine with top-notch kills, gore, and ghosts. The landlord, neighbor, and homeless character provide humorous moments. Unfortunately, the main character comes off as overly exaggerated and annoying, and the incorporation of music into the storyline feels forced. In a lot of ways I felt this was a mess.
In conclusion, Destroy all Neighbors struggles with inconsistent writing, acting, and storyline. Still, the impressive effects make it worth a watch. I'd score it a 5/10 but recommend giving it a viewing.

This had the exact vibe I was expecting from a horror comedy of this nature after watching the trailer. Not necessarily predictable... but expected.
The story was pretty engaging and fun, but I did find myself a tad bored at times and it also felt a little longer than it was... which tells me the pacing could have been improved upon. I thought the acting was decent to good for the genre, we don't need academy recognized performances here.
By far the most successful part of this movie were the practical effects. They were not scared to go full force with them and I found them to be supper successful on multiple levels.
This was a fun, brainless, almost nostalgic feeling flick that has some really dope visuals for your eyes to feast upon. Although it had the potential to round out to be something pretty special, I think it landed pretty middle of the road. 5.5 rounding down to a 5, would recommend.

So Prog Rock gets a horror film!
This is camp horror set in the context of a milquetoast Everyman who has no gumption or spine to stand up for himself. Enter his annoying neighbors in his crappy apartment and the movie is off and running!
Plot is simple: Am I a man or a mouse? But this entails some crazy coincidences, occasional body fluids, and some random body parts.
The film isn't great, but for a smaller budget production, it isn't bad. Definitely Grade B horror comedy.
But, the awesome thing is the explanation of Progressive Rock that is given later in the film. This and the sampling of the main character's music makes this a must for all that can laugh at a Phil Collins joke.

Prog Rock!
William Brown (Jonah Ray) is struggling to finish his self-described prog rock masterpiece in his home studio. His rundown apartment building is full of noisy neighbors. When he confronts his neighbor Vlad, it goes horribly wrong and more wrong and even more wrong still.
This is a small horror comedy. There are a few recognizable faces in the cast although I don't recognize Jonah Ray. The one that I truly did not recognize is Alex Winter as Vlad. I appreciate the makeup to make him weird, but it may be more compelling to use Alex Winter's real face. He is still a named face that some people would like to see. The biggest issue for me is that I didn't laugh. I can see the comedy, but it doesn't hit the funny bone.
