Avis à la une
The grainy and dullish camera visuals and audio add a disturbing touch to the film, it may be because of the low budget it had but it served the movie very well regardless. The script feels as if it were written in loops and poems, especially during Animal Cannibal (Which is the clip where I found the movie). The costume design is very inline with stage theatre, adding a knowledge of it being not real but even more eery. Sadly I didn't have the biggest connection with the film, leaving me disconnected. This may be a plus for someone else but I personally need a connection just leaving the film as, good.
Women. Two. Stalker! Masks! Editing. Great! Stairs: up, down. Interesting. Feminists! Sexism! Ghosts, science fiction. Experiment and Avant Garde. Hooray!!
Possibly in Michigan by Cecelia Condit is the literal definition of camp. This 13-minute short film from 1983, that went viral all over YouTube and TikTok a few years ago is about the story of two women named Sharon and Janice who are being followed around in a mall by a cannibal called Arthur (aka Prince Charming in the film's credits). That might sound intriguing enough, but it's also somehow a musical with a plot twist near the end. Anyways, this film needs to be seen with an open mind and Cecelia Condit's other films: Beneath the Skin (1981) and Not a Jealous Bone (1987) because they're not your run-of-the-mill mainstream films.
This film strikes at subconscious fears precisely and violently, leaving the viewer with a sinking feeling of reality itself being out of place. Its allusions to real life horror allow for poignant emotional beats and symbolism. Whether that symbolism is moving, unnerving, or some combination of both is up to the viewer.
I would argue that this film has had as much impact on analog horror as Marble Hornets and Petscop, and I would not be surprised to learn that the former works were influenced by Possibly in Michigan. It could be considered the first example of true analog horror, taking full advantage of the medium to tell its story. Unlike other horror produced at the time, it has that esoteric ,surrealist feeling we've come to appreciate almost 40 years after production.
This is one of the greatest examples of horror "ahead of its time".

A wonderful, Strange, and surreal film that draws you into its creepy and confusing story, and leave you satisfied with a fitting ending. Yet still you walk away knowing just about as much about the story as before you even started.
