Avis à la une
While I had indeed never heard about this 2018 horror movie titled "Betsy" (aka "Animal Inside") from writer and director Shawn Burkett, then of course I opted to watch it here in 2025, as I had the opportunity to do so. After all, I am a big fan of horror.
However, I have to say that writer Shawn Burkett delivered a rather slow paced narrative in the movie, and it was somewhat uneventful. And that ultimately lead to a rather boring viewing experience. So I wasn't particularly entertained or thrilled about sitting through the movie.
I was not familiar with the actors and actresses on the cast list, and while some of the acting performances were shoddy and amateurish, there were also some performances that were actually adequate. Yeah, you're not going to find yourself in for an evening of Shakespearian theater, should you opt to watch "Betty".
The special effects in the movie were fair. Let's just leave it at that.
Ultimately, "Betsy" is not a movie that I would recommend you to sit down and watch. And it is not a movie that will ever find a second play on my screen.
My rating of writer and director Shawn Burkett's 2018 movie "Betsy" lands on a three out of ten stars.

Betsy didn't shine for its stellar acting; in fact, it was quite dreadful. There was an absolute lack of chemistry among the actors, almost suggesting a robotic execution within the cast. Emotion and drama were conspicuously absent. The plot followed a rather standard template: the protagonist is attacked by a werewolf and survives... you know the rest. The special effects were notably deficient. While some films handle nudity sensibly, in this case, it came across as peculiar. It seemed as if the actress either hesitated to reveal nudity or it was reserved for a specific, potentially pivotal scene. If that was the intent it failed. If I hadn't been occupied with something else while this movie played in the background, I would have surely turned it off. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that there is a mid-credit scene which arguably represents the film's best moment.
...then this is your lucky day! For a supped werewolf movie, 99% of the time it comes a cross as a Hallmark drama with bad acting. Special effects are all but non-existent. It's like film students found an old iPhone and decided to do a homework assignment.
First, the characters are always speaking like they have no emotions. Second, the cops are constantly getting wasted and driving drunk. Third, the "villain" spends more time in group therapy than doing anything evil. Fourth, the ending is nonsensical: if you find someone you love dead, you don't use leave them there and calmly walk away.
If you enjoy suffering, then boy, is this the film for you!

Really bad acting, save your money. I saw the picture on the cover and thought maybe vampire and werewolf, but instead just piss poor everything. The lead actress couldn't act and had terrible hair and when she tried to be sexy it was laughable. All the acting was just awful.
This film is strictly by the numbers, and you will have seen it before a few times, everyone does their best on a micro budget and,,,,,, actually it's garbage, Betsy the werewolf runs around with her boobs hanging out of a cardigan snarling through plastic fangs. I sort of enjoyed it by the end after almost switching it off a few times, there is a glimmer of talent hanging around somewhere in there but it's buried under the usual layers of nervous acting , predictability and lack of sparkle, apart from the whole cardigan/boobs shenanigans. If you're in the right mood it's not the worst film you'll see but it's not far off,, except for the werewolf wearing a cardigan with her boobs hanging out, did I mention that?!!.
