He was 54.

Costa Rican National Police told ABC News that Warner’s official cause of death was asphyxia. Police said he died near Cocles, a beach in Limon province, after being caught by a high current. He was found Sunday afternoon.

The Associated Press reported that the local police initially reported that Warner “was rescued by people on the beach.” But first responders from Costa Rica’s Red Cross found him without vital signs, and he was taken to the morgue.

Clint Eastwood and his Dollars trilogy inspired Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, but in its later seasons lost that connection to the classic Westerns. The character is very much built on the iconic presence of The Man With No Name in Sergio Leone’s movies, played by Clint Eastwood, and The Lone Samurai in Akira Kurosawa.

Clint Eastwood has directed and starred in several incredible films and was the poster boy (or should we say poster man) for masculinity in the ‘70s and ‘80s. The Western legend played no-nonsense heroes who did the right thing, with his signature squint and never-give-up attitude. However, there was one movie that broke this image.

Before Eastwood became the symbol of badassery with Dirty Harry, in the same year, he starred in Don Siegel’s The Beguiled (1971). The Gothic thriller saw Eastwood play a wounded Union soldier, who becomes the object of fascination of a group of nuns of all ages as he recovers in their Seminary. Eastwood reportedly regretted the film’s performance.

Peter Kwong, a martial artist and actor who played one of the Three Storms in Big Trouble in Little China and a henchman in The Golden Child during a prolific acting career and was active in actors union politics and the movie and TV academy leadership, has died. He was 73.

His reps told Deadline that Kwong died overnight Tuesday in his sleep but did not provide other details.

Born on April 9, 1952, Kwong began his screen career in the mid-1970s with guest shots on such TV series as Wonder Woman and Black Sheep Squadron and into the ’80s with Cagney & Lacey, Bret Maverick, The Greatest American Hero, Little House on the Prairie, Dynasty, The A-Team, Miami Vice, 227, St. Elsewhere, Matt Houston and others.

He also had bit parts in features but would land perhaps his most famous role by mid-decade.

Robertson had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease among other health issues. His condition was made public during a December 2024 episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast.

Marvin Laird, the award-winning Broadway and film composer who also conducted concerts for big stars like Diana Ross and Bernadette Peters, died Monday in Connecticut from natural causes. He was 85.

Laird participated in various hits on stage and the big screen. Among the most notable Broadway shows he conducted are “Annie,” “Get Your Gun,” “Gypsy” and “Follies.” His stage presence went beyond Broadway, conducting concerts for like Joel Grey, Cass Elliot, Dusty Springfield, and Goldie Hawn. He also composed the dance music for the ballet “Smile with My Heart” and the score for “Ruthless! The Musical” alongside Joel Paley who wrote the book and lyrics. Laird and Paley later went on to become partners in marriage.

Northrop’s publicist confirmed to TVLine that the actor died at the Motion Picture and Television Woodland Hills Home on Friday. Our sister site Deadline was the first to report the news.

MyFree DirecTV offers more than 70 subscription-free streaming channels within the DirecTV app for phones, tablets and smart TVs. (Courtesy image)

DirecTV this week officially debuted their free, ad-supported streaming television platform with a curated portfolio of more than 70 content channels.

The service, called MyFree DirecTV, exists within the same app as DirecTV’s subscription streaming service, which is widely available on smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and other devices.

At launch, MyFree DirecTV includes dozens of channels from programmers and distributors like the E. W. Scripps Company, Lionsgate, A+E Networks and more. In a statement, the company said channels from Fremantle are expected to launch within the next few weeks.
