HBO’s Ballers Won Fans & Launched Careers but Exposed Dwayne Johnson’s Risk-Averse Phase ( Photo Credit – Netflix )
In 2015, HBO launched Ballers, a slick sports saga riding Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s invincible Hollywood momentum. Promising a glimpse into the NFL’s high-stakes money grind and personal comeback tales, the series had all the elements to capture attention.
Johnson played Spencer Strasmore, a former football star turned financial consultant. Spectators tuned in, inquisitive to see The Rock flex not just brawn but his acting breadth. Yet, although it ran five seasons, Ballers left critics debating its overly polished, predictable formula and cautious storytelling choices.

Soap opera characters like Dr. Britt Westbourne, played Kelly Thiebaud, have to deal with larger-than-life situations — like cheating death, seeing lovers come back from the dead, and reuniting with them at five-star spas in Europe. When General Hospital calls for Thiebaud to play moments like this, the actress brings a grounded, relatable realism to the heightened situations. For her performance as a woman who came face to face with her ex-lover and told him off in no uncertain terms, TV Insider is handing Performer of the Week honors to the Daytime Emmy-winning Thiebaud! There was a lot of backstory to touch upon when Jason (Steve Burton) and Britt had their reunion,...

An expert has assessed an asteroid collision scene from The Expanse for scientific accuracy. A show that aired three seasons on SyFy and three seasons on Prime Video from 2015 until 2019, The Expanse characters were forced to try and maintain a fragile intergalactic peace. The sci-fi series was based on James S. A. Corey's novels of the same name.
By the time The Expanse ended, fans of the show had seen many incredible sequences brought to life. A video from Insider that judged a memorable asteroid collision scene from The Expanse season 5, episode 3, "Mother" revealed that the show deserved a lot of credit.

A hacker revealed that the classic HBO comedy, Silicon Valley, was extremely accurate. Even though HBO has produced many underrated shows and series that are perfect for binging, it is impressive that the company made a show that was so technically realistic. The series follows Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), a programmer who founds a startup company, Pied Piper, and the challenges of competing with larger entities.
Between 2014 and 2019, six seasons of the tech comedy were produced. While some Silicon Valley seasons were better than others, the show had an impressive fan following at the time. The thing that many of Silicon Valley's fans wouldn't have realized is that the show was so accurate.

HBO’s Game of Thrones was a gamble when it began in 2011, but when it came to an end in 2019, it had become a global phenomenon like no other. With heightened popularity and budget came increased cast salaries as well. Right now, Peter Dinklage, who portrayed Tyrion Lannister, is the richest of them all. He has a net worth of $25 million (via Celebrity Net Worth).
Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novels, Game of Thrones was a financial juggernaut for the actors. Some of the actors earned more than $1 million per episode by the time the final season ended. From Emilia Clarke’s colossal salary to Dinklage’s paycheck and more, here we will rank the net worth of the main cast members.
7. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark)- $6 Million
Maisie Williams didn’t reach the high mark of earning $1.2 million in the final season like some of her co-stars did.

Sharon Stone was destined for stardom and exploded with it in the ‘90s with films like Basic Instinct. In 1995, she earned a much-deserved Oscar nomination for playing Ginger, the wife to Robert De Niro’s Sam “Ace” Rothstein. Thirty years after the release of Casino, Sharon Stone is remembering her time working with both De Niro and Joe Pesci on Martin Scorsese’s epic.
When asked by Business Insider how Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci compare on the set of Casino, Stone said, “It’s apples and oranges. Joey really, really fought for me to be seen and get the job. So I have a serious loyalty to Joey because he’s always backed me. It was always Joey and Jimmy Caan. They backed me since I was 19.”
As for Robert De Niro in particular, Sharon Stone said that they didn’t exactly have the best relationship while making Casino.

Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has hit the $1 billion mark at just 26, making him worth nearly twice as much as the Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise‘s $600 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth. The math is almost comical. Ten years ago, 17-year-old Donaldson was grinding out gaming videos on “MrBeast6000”, while Cruise was already sitting pretty on an estimated $400 million empire built from decades of box office domination.
In 2015, if you told anyone that a teenager making YouTube videos in his bedroom would outpace Tom Cruise’s Hollywood fortune within a decade, they’d probably recommend touching grass. Yet here we are. Fast-forward to 2025, and the kid who counted to 100,000 almost 8 years ago on his YouTube channel is now counting billions.

Have you ever dug yourself so far down into a deep, dark hole that you didn’t even realize what you’d done until it was almost too late to dig yourself out? That’s what happened to poor Willow Tait on General Hospital, played by Katelyn MacMullen, who brings both vulnerability and strength, and awareness and delusion to her character. The young woman had turned in one cult (Dawn of Day) for another. Fortunately, Willow finally saw the light thanks to Curtis (Donnell Turner) and dumped Drew just as they were about to get married. For her portrayal of a woman riding a roller coaster of co-dependent dysfunction, TV Insider is bestowing Daytime Performer of the Week honors on MacMullen. ‘Gen V’ Stars Promise ‘The Boys’ Team Up, a Dean for Homelander’s America & More in Season 2 (Video)
Gen V‘s long-awaited return is nearly here, and ahead of The Boys spinoff’s Season 2 debut, the stars and showrunner Michele Fazekas hit up TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s studio at San Diego Comic-Con to tease what’s in store for this latest chapter of the college-set superhero series. As viewers will recall, Season 1 of the show, which focuses on a group of coming-of-age supes attending Godolkin University, saw several of the students imprisoned at a mysterious location with their fates uncertain. And Fazekas is clearing up any confusion as she sets the stage for Season 2. “Yeah, there’s a time jump,” she says. “And everyone starts in a completely different place, and they’re not all together… They’re in a place that we have been told in Season 1 [is] the last place you should want to go, which is called Elmira… Some of them end up there,...

Now, imagine that those theater kids grew up to be professional actors. Since old habits die hard, some of them are still out here taking mementos from their productions left and right. Even some of the biggest names in the industry today have managed to snag iconic props or pieces of a beloved set piece after they've wrapped production.

“F**k you, you ho. I don’t want you back.” One of the most explicit, cathartic, messy breakup songs of the early 2000s, plus its musical response that has just as much bite, are the song references Jacob Anderson uses to describe how rockstar Lestat’s music impacts Louis and Lestat’s relationship in Interview With the Vampire Season 3, premiering in 2026 on AMC. Sitting between Sam Reid and their costar, Eric Bogosian, in TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s San Diego Comic-Con 2025 studio on July 25, Anderson brings up the iconically profane R&b track Eamon released as his debut single in 2003, “F**k It (I Don’t Want You Back).” In 2004, Frankee released an equally iconic response song, “F.U.R.B. Netflix’s 2025 South Korean thriller, Wall to Wall, is a compact, tightly woven story of modern urban decadence that deftly blends psychological dread stemming from isolated, fragmented existence with the long-prevalent real estate corruption of South Korea. Backed with a solid script full of nail-biting moments and shocking plot twists, Wall to Wall should also be praised for the performance of the actors, especially of the lead star, Kang Ha-neul, who brought his A-game in what seems to be his career-best character portrayal. Part of the appeal of war and military movies has to do with the fact that they're often based on real-life events and the way real-life situations are portrayed. Regardless of the excessive carnage that some movies are obligated to depict, the military genre is very popular across generations. But how exactly real are they? Former Marine Corps special operations team leader Elliot Ackerman offers his valuable perspective.
Ackerman's resume speaks for itself. The former service member was part of the Marine Raiders group as well as a CIA operative for covert operations. Since retiring, he has followed a writing career, winning several awards in the field. The winner of a Silver Star, Purple Heart and Bronze Star has enough experience to validate whether Hollywood's most important military films are realistic or not.
The former soldier appeared in a video for Insider, where he went through cinema's exemplary record in depicting the Marine Corps.

With a new season of television, especially one in the medical or procedural drama, chances are a new character will come in. But would that have been the case if The Resident hadn’t been canceled after six seasons and instead had returned for a seventh? TV Insider asked co-creator Amy Holden Jones and executive producer Andrew Chapman just that when they detailed what would have happened in a Season 7. “No, because we had Yamada [Ian Anthony Dale], and we hadn’t used him enough, so he was like the major new character,” Jones told us. However, she said there was a scenario in which the cast would have expanded. “That thing sort of is dependent on who stays and who goes. And if somebody goes, then you have to fill that hole,” she explained. “But we had a lot of characters already. It was hard scrambling all the ones we had.

Yellowjackets, thankfully, has been renewed for Season 4, assuring that the show’s biggest cliffhanger (literally) won’t go unaddressed. As always with this supernatural (or is it?) tale of survival told in two timelines, the Yellowjackets Season 3 finale left fans with more questions than answers. TV Insider had Liv Hewson (teen Van) react to Yellowjackets fan theories while the fans wait for the next part of the story to unfold. ‘Ted Lasso’ is probably the most beloved show to come out of the beginnings of Covid-19. In the early days of the Pandemic, many people wanted to turn to something warm and comforting to escape what life had become in the world. This unassuming show about an American Football Coach flying to London to coach a Premier Soccer League has taken off in enormous fashion, getting critical and commercial buzz throughout its entire existence. Who would’ve thought that a farcical concept that started out as an NBC sketch could be given so much emotional weight? Apparently, Jason Sudeikis and co-creators Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly. Their knack for telling sincere stories in a genuinely sophisticated way has brought a much-needed dose of kindness to the cynicism of modern television. Everybody’s favorite soccer coach came back for its third (and supposedly final) season. The first episode of the show was as tight,...

Why is Marvel Deciding to Change Their Formula Now? Marvel’s track record post ‘Avengers: Endgame’ has been hit or miss. With underwhelming releases and over-saturation of the comic book genre as a large reason why, it’s easy to place the full blame on the studio and executives, but Covid-19 and the Writer’s Strike heavily impacted their theatrical release schedule, and projects that were announced years in advance (I.E. ‘Blade’) began to get stuck in the gutter, definitely not helping the cause. Let’s face it: Pumping out content left and right was never going to be sustainable. There needed to be some sort of change to get people excited for these event movies like they were during Marvel’s peak over the Cinema landscape back in the late 2010s. But what will that change look like, and how far will it take them? Things to do:...

Hank Northrop, whose casting was first announced in February of this year, is set to make his “Days of our Lives” debut at the end of October, a representative for the daytime drama series has confirmed to Soap Opera Network, although character and storyline details remain under wraps.
Northrop is the son of “General Hospital” star Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) and the late Wayne Northrop, who played the iconic role of Roman Brady on “Days of our Lives” from 1981-1984 and again from 1991-1994. From 2005-2006, the elder Northrop returned to the series once more but took on the new persona of Dr. Alex North as Roman had already been recast with actor Josh Taylor since 1997.

It’s been over two years since The Resident was canceled after six seasons, but with how popular revivals and spinoffs have become, it’s impossible not to wonder if it could come back in some way. And that’s exactly what TV Insider asked co-creator Amy Holden Jones and executive producer Andrew Chapman when we recently spoke with them about what would’ve happened if there had been a Season 7. “I think we would love — and everybody involved would love — to just go back into the show,” said Jones. “Unlike some of these spinoffs, a lot of the cast would come and so we could return to the same world if we wanted to.” If there was just going to be a spinoff, both Jones and Chapman agree that Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played surgeon Aj Austin, “would be great.” “Having him being the lead doctor and then you’d...

The Hollywood Insider - '28 Years Later' Shot on an iPhone
One of 2025’s biggest Cinematic surprises, ‘28 Years Later’ was shot not on an iPhone. An iPhone. Can You Believe That? That’s what helmed ‘28 Years Later’. Not an Arri Alexa. Not a Red Helium. An iPhone. The iPhone wasn’t always considered Cinematic. It started with snapping photos, and maybe recording a funny moment. But over time, filmmakers began using it to their advantage. I mean, it makes sense in a weird way. It’s a lot smaller, a lot lighter, and way more accessible. So when it comes to fast-paced action scenes or first-person shots, I can see the appeal. But can the camera quality and sound really compare to a professional camera rig? To think a 6.7-inch device—Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max—could take center stage in a franchise film, outpacing technology Hollywood has spent decades refining,...

28 Days Later seemed a straightforward title for a film about an outbreak, but then that magic number keeps appearing in the sequels. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland dispel the mystery with a Millennial reference.

There’s a part of Eliot’s (Christian Kane) past that the crew of Leverage: Redemption has no idea about, and it has to do with one of the villains from the original TNT series Leverage. In Season 3 of the prequel, unbeknownst to the others, Eliot worked for Damien Moreau (Goran Visnjic), and he once hinted as much, explaining at the time to his teammates that he’d been trying to protect them, which he saw as his job. Still, we never found out what exactly he did for Moreau, and it seems like that question will never be answered, according to the reboot's showrunner.

It’s one such moment that is already online that came up when TV Insider had stars Oliver Stark (Buck) and Aisha Hinds (Hen) in our office playing a game of Knock Your Blocks Off ahead of the Season 8 finale. When asked about a scene that made him break while shooting, Stark recalled filming the Season 7 finale with Hinds, Kenneth Choi (Chimney), and Ryan Guzman (Eddie). The four of them were in the hospital hallway with Bobby (Peter Krause) in the hospital after nearly dying when his and Athena’s (Angela Bassett) house burned down. “For some reason, we just could not keep it together and we were in hysterics. Nobody wanted to look at each other. Every time you’d look, you’d break,” Stark recalled.

Damien Leone, writer-director of the cult horror series Terrifier, has confirmed that the fourth installment will unveil Art the Clown’s origin story within the opening fifteen minutes of the film. Leone recently told 3C Films’ Cris Parker that the backstory reveal is designed to be “epic” and “not going to disappoint,” signaling a shift towards deeper narrative exploration.
The screenplay for Terrifier 4 is currently in development, with Leone indicating that this chapter will bring closure to Art’s arc and set the stage for the series’ conclusion. While a formal release date remains unannounced, fans anticipate a late 2026 debut based on previous two-year intervals between sequels.
Since its debut in 2016, the Terrifier franchise has thrived on the anonymity and terror of Art the Clown, portrayed most recently by David Howard Thornton. Earlier entries focused almost exclusively on graphic kills and tension, leaving viewers to construct their own theories about the killer’s origins.
