Coby Bell, known for his recent starring role on CW’s Walker, has signed with Defining Artists for representation.

Bell portrayed Texas Ranger Captain Larry James opposite Jared Padalecki on all four seasons of Walker, a reimagining of CBS’ long-running 1990s action/crime series Walker, Texas Ranger.

His previous credits include the series regular role of Jace Turner on Fox’s The Gifted. He also was a series regular on The Game‘s nine-season run as Jason Pitts, as well as all seven seasons of Burn Notice as Jesse Porter. He recurred on Seal Team for CBS, Hand of God and Mad Dogs for Amazon.

He most recently appeared in a guest-starring role on Poppa’s House for CBS and will next be seen in a recurring role on 9-1-1: Nashville, which premieres on October 9.

Bell continues to be repped by Barbara Stark Management.

Doctor Odyssey‘s ship has sailed: ABC has cancelled the medical drama after a single season.

The cast’s options for a second season will not be picked up, according to our sister site Deadline, meaning that as of Monday they will be free to book other roles. Though not a formal cancellation, if ABC does eventually want Doc Od to return, producers would need to re-sign all lead actors to new deals.

After a day of rumors involving Neve Campbell joining the X-Men franchise, it has finally been confirmed that she is joining the cast of X-Men '97. On May 12, 2025, rumors began to circulate that Scream star Neve Campbell had been cast as the mutant Polaris, in either Avengers: Doomsday or the upcoming X-Men reboot Marvel Studios is planning. However, with the X-Men reboot only now hiring a director, that felt unlikely. Meanwhile, others questioned why Avengers: Doomsday would introduce a new character in what already looks like a stacked cast.

Now, Comic Book Movie is reporting that Neve Campbell has, in fact, been cast as Polaris, but instead of playing the character in live-action, she will voice her in X-Men '97. Yesterday, we reported on a rumor that Scream star Neve Campbell had been cast as Polaris in an upcoming Marvel project. We didn't have much more to go on initially, but it was assumed that she would wither play the character in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot, or appear in Avengers: Doomsday alongside the returning 20th Century Fox era actors.

A trusted source later reached out to tell us that Campbell would actually be voicing Polaris in season 2 of the X-Men '97 animated series, which former showrunner Beau DeMayo has now confirmed.

Derek Hoffman has been named as Lucasfilm’s new vice president of development, TheWrap has learned.

Hoffman will oversee development of live-action projects.

Hoffman replaces former longtime development exec Rayne Roberts, who left the company at the end of last year. Roberts co-developed “The Acolyte” with Leslye Headland, where she was credited as a producer. “The Acolyte” received heavy fan backlash and was not renewed for a second season.

Actress-turned-actor, Emma Dumont has publicly come out as “trans masculine non-binary.”

Dumont, who played the titular characters’ sister-in-law Jackie in the Oppenheimer movie, has made their new identity known through their representative, who reported: “They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person. Their work name is still going to be Emma Dumont, but they will go by Nick with friends and family.”

Despite keeping their Instagram handle the same, Dumont updated their pronouns on the app to they/them and changed their bio to say, “Only call me Nick if ur cool okay?”

Dumont has amassed over 25 credits in Hollywood shows and films since 2009, but Oppenheimer, released in 2023, served as their most acclaimed role yet. Previous credits of Dumont’s include appearances in Marvel’s The Gifted and Hulu’s T@gged.

Last month, Dumont shared a carousel post to Instagram that features shots of them with a guitar and taking bathroom selfies.

Jeff Daniel Phillips, best known for standout roles in Rob Zombie films like Halloween 2 and The Lords of Salem, has unveiled the first trailer for his directorial debut, Cursed in Baja.

The trailer, revealed by Dread Central, offers a first look at the intense, genre-bending film from the new director, which also features horror icon Barbara Crampton. Phillips plays Pirelli, an ex-lawman, who travels to Mexico searching for the heir to a Los Angeles fortune, while confronting his own complicated past. But what he finds in Baja challenges him to the core. Cursed in Baja is set to have its world premiere at London's FrightFest, before it comes to VOD and Blu-ray via Anchor Bay Entertainment. Phillips wrote, produced, directed and also stars in the film. Cursed In Baja is also produced by Kent Isaacs, and executive produced by Thomas Zamback and Brian Katz. A new horror parody film has been made for Piglet, Pooh's pal who has traditionally been depicted as harmless. While the character was reimagined for the "Poohniverse" franchise, he'll next be taking center stage in an unconnected horror film that presents Piglet as a lone killer.

Per Bloody Disgusting, SpookHouse MediaWorks and Strange Films Studios have announced Piglet, a parody film that utilizes Piglet's public domain status. The movie is described as feeling reminiscent of classic slasher flicks, which includes leaning on more traditional practical effects. There are high hopes for Piglet to become a new cult classic, and a first sneak peek at the film has been released in the form of an official poster. That can be seen below.

Coming soon from SpookHouse MediaWorks and Strange Films Studios is a horror movie titled Piglet, the latest twisted take on a public domain character from the Pooh universe.

The team tells Bd, “This new take on the public domain character Piglet blends elements of classic slasher films like Friday the 13th and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”

“We’re sparing no expense to stay true to the genre’s practical effects roots and create a truly nightmare-inducing experience. With an ensemble cast, Piglet is primed to be a cult classic in the making,” they continue, also comparing the upcoming film to Motel Hell.

Piglet will be directed by August Aguilar (The Gifted). The cast features Celeste Blandon (Phantom Fun-World), Jasper Hammer (All Eyes), and Brian Bremer (Pumpkinhead). The score is composed by Dr. Chud, formerly of the The Misfits.

Scheduled to start shooting in September, the series tells the true story of Catholic priest Severino Mallari, who predated Jack The Ripper by killing 57 people during the Spanish colonial era of the Philippines.

Trillo is playing Severino, while De Leon will play his mother, in what looks set to be one of her darkest roles yet. Severino believed his mother was bewitched and that he could cure her condition by killing people.

Yam Laranas, known for horror films The Echo and The Road, is directing the series, which has been scripted by Dodo Dayao (Cattleya Killer), Rona Co and Rody Vera (Die Beautiful).

Tony McFarr, who was Chris Pratt’s stunt double in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and two of the “Jurassic World” movies, died on Monday. He was 47.

McFarr’s mother told TMZ that he died at his home outside of Orlando, Fla. No cause of death has been given. His death was reported on the website of the Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home in Merritt Island, Fla.

The stuntman performed in dozens of movies and shows, dating back to the early 2010s. He first doubled for Pratt on the 2015 film “Jurassic World” and followed that up with 2017’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” He also performed Pratt’s stunts in the 2016 drama “Passengers.”

ABC’s Doctor Odyssey is adding another cast member to its staff: Sean Teale (The Gifted, Reign) will be joining Joshua Jackson as a series regular on the upcoming medical drama, TVLine has learned.

No character details for Teale’s role have been released, but we know that Jackson stars as the title character, “whose charms help him get what he wants.” Doctor Odyssey — which has received a straight-to-series order from ABC and is slated to debut this fall — is set aboard a cruise ship, with Don Johnson (Miami Vice) and Phillipa Soo (Shining Girls) also set to co-star.

Sean Teale has been cast as a series regular in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming ABC series “Dr. Odyssey,” Variety has learned.

Teale will star in the series alongside previously announced lead Joshua Jackson as well as fellow cast members Don Johnson and Phillipa Soo. Plot and character details for the show are being kept under wraps, but sources say the series is a medical procedural set on a cruise ship. It is slated to premiere during the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

Teale first broke out as a cast member in the popular UK series “Skins,” holding a main role in the series during its fifth and sixth seasons. He went on to star in shows like “Mr. Selfridge” and “Reign.” His other recent credits include leading the Syfy series “Incorporated” as well as starring in shows like “The Gifted” at Fox, “Little Voice” at Apple TV+, and “Who Is Erin Carter?” at Netflix.

Rounding out the series regular cast of the Ryan Murphy ABC drama series Doctor Odyssey is Sean Teale. He joins previously announced stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson and Phillipa Soo.

As with any Ryan Murphy series, no details about the premise are being revealed. As the title suggests, Doctor Odyssey is believed to be a medical procedural. According to sources, it is set on a cruise ship.  

Character descriptions for all involved are also under wraps. It hails from 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television.

Doctor Odyssey is written and executive produced by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Paris Barclay is directing and executive producing. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich also executive produce alongside Jackson.

Marvel Studios can fix the mistakes made by Fox in the X-Men franchise once mutants and the X-Men are established in the MCU, giving audiences a better version of these characters. Fox's X-Men franchise introduced popular characters from Marvel Comics to mass audiences and revolutionized superhero films, paving the way for the MCU. Marvel Studios has the opportunity to improve upon Fox's handling of certain characters and storylines, such as Storm, Darwin, and the mutant cure, in order to do them justice in the MCU.

Fox's X-Men franchise had some very disappointing moments, but Marvel Studios can repeat these moments better once mutants and the X-Men are more established in the MCU. Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox back in 2019 meant that the rights to mutants and the X-Men reverted to Marvel Studios, allowing a whole host of new characters from Marvel Comics to be brought into the MCU proper.
