Bravo, the network that brings us "The Real Housewives of New York" and "Million Dollar Listing, New York", also offers a parody of those who populate the exclusive world of their other shows. "Odd Mom Out" is a comedy created by and starring Jill Kargman, who plays Jill Weber--a member of the 1% living among the .01%. Her husband (Andy Buckley as Andy Weber) is a partner (one of 115) in his firm and their life is financially comfortable, but they constantly confront the crustiest of the upper crust, who look down their sculpted noses at them.
Kargman is expressive and enthusiastic in the lead role--a mother of twins who is sometimes seduced by the allure of the nouveau vacuous, but she manages to save her edgy soul.
The always enjoyable Joanna Cassidy plays Candace Von-Weber, mother to Andy and his brother, Lex (Sean Kleier). They, along with Lex's wife Brooke (Abby Elliot), embrace the struggle to be among the cream of society, even amending their last name to Von-Weber for its genealogical cachet.
Jill's ally in maintaining disdain for the status faux is her sister, Vanessa (Kristen Glick)--a 39 year old physician who does not know what she wants but knows it is not the parade of short-lived and shallow encounters she has with men.
The writing is clever and filled with one liners. The juxtaposition of quirky-normal and Stepford Wives-superficiality reminds me of "Suburgatory". This is an adult show, so its brand of humor reminds me of "Teachers". If you want to laugh at those who are on the curve of every hip new craze--from pocket pooches to designer gravestones--tune in.

I can't get enough of Odd Mom Out! I could only hope to be half as cool and fun and quirky as Jill Kargman. This show is funny, raw at times, and I look forward to every Monday night at 10PM. The characters are each unique, from Brooke Von Weber the spoiled rich girl to Vanessa the man-seeking ER doctor, this show sucks you in and you can't even wait for the next episode. I am bummed that the season finale is coming up next week. I could watch this show over and over. My Jill Kargman/OMO fix will come from reading her books while BRAVO hopefully films Season 2 of this show. If you haven't watched it, please, take 30 minutes from your busy day and watch this show!
Bravo you made a huge mistake In canceling this incredibly funny, well written, excellently acted show!!!
Good:
Bad:
Most tv shows are bad at the start then get better, this one starts high but then just goes down
- funny moments
- nice-ish story
- most actors are nice looking
Bad:
- Since the title is odd mom out you'd expect it to be more about mothers... not mothers who outsource parenting 99%.
- You can just feel the political bs in real life oozing into this
- It gets sooo annoying, mainly because of all the women
- I find Jill very unattractive, maybe it's the red lipstick with the pitch black hair, I don't know... the more I watch the worse she gets and Brooke gets prettier, no idea why - don't get me wrong, both are annoying af

I sort of understand why this show will not appeal to many. It's funny and satirical and although it has all the prerequisites of being, it is not your everyday all American humor. Although the plot is nothing new I think that in a way it is really smart, since it's rich vs. flirty rich, so in its core there is something utterly funny and a source of constant ridicule.
The main character is at first sight annoying, but as we can see half way through the first season we can see that she is more complex then we think, so she seems 'more real' than the rest, but I find that quite interesting and appealing.
Some of the other characters are beyond limits caricatured, so that adds to the comedy element of the show, without leaving you wondering 'why is this happening?.
All in all I really think that everyone who is looking for a pinch of fresh comedy and wants to watch something new, should definitely give this show a go without taking into consideration its (unfair) ratings or the simplicity of the plot.
