Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” “Sinners,” “Weapons,” “Frankenstein and “Wicked: For Good” led the 13th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Award nominations.
The films all three landed nominations apiece.
The makeup and hair team behind “One Battle After Another” was nominated in contemporary makeup and special makeup prosthetics. Arjen Tuiten, who was nominated in the latter category, used prosthetic pieces, contact lenses and dentures for Sean Penn’s Colonel Lockjaw in the film’s third act after he survives a horrific car crash.
For “Frankenstein,” Mike Hill, the film’s prosthetics artist, steered clear of the classic zombie, and used 42 prosthetic pieces to transform Jacob Elordi in Guillermo del Toro’s Creature.
Francis Hannon had her work cut out for her on “Wicked: For Good.” Aside from keeping Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba green, she had to work with Mark Coulier to transform Jonathan Bailey into the...

Watch out Elon and Larry, There’s a new celebrity billionaire in town.
Beyoncé is now worth 10 figures, according to Forbes, which has long tracked the status of the ultra-high net worth. The business publication said Monday that Beyoncé now has three commas to her name, thanks to the success of Cowboy Carter and The Renaissance World Tour.
And while some celebrities have grown their net worth through savvy investments, consumer products and startups (looking at you Ryan Reynolds, Ashton Kutcher and Kim Kardashian), Beyoncé’s value is tightly connected to her music, which she almost completely controls.
In that regard the musician joins an elite few musicians and entertainers to crack the billion dollar club, including her husband, Jay-Z, as well as Taylor Swift (who like Beyoncé controls almost every aspect of her music), Bruce Springsteen and Rihanna (thanks to Fenty).

As “Heated Rivalry” continues to… heat up and become a massive hit for HBO Max, conversations have begun regarding the upcoming Emmy season. While romance series have broken through at the award show recently — see “Nobody Wants This,” which broke through with three nods for its first season — this adaptation will not get the same treatement.

It seemed back in 2018 that Tom Hiddleston’s time with Marvel had come to an end when Thanos killed Loki at the start of “Avengers: Infinity War.” But that was swiftly undone with “Avengers: Endgame” a year later thanks to the film’s time-traveling shenanigans.
Now 15 years since first making his Marvel debut in “Thor,” Hiddleston is still playing the Asgardian trickster, having reprised the role in the two-season Disney+ series “Loki” and again in the upcoming blockbuster “Avengers: Doomsday,” due out next December.

After co-starring in Season 2 opposite Katilyn Dever as a Firefly in Season 2, the actor has had to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts, TheWrap has learned.

Meyer Gottlieb, who headed Samuel Goldwyn Films and produced films including “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” died Monday in Los Angeles. He was 86.
Tom Rothman, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, said in a statement, “Meyer was a gentleman of the old school. I was fortunate to work for him when he ran the Samuel Goldwyn Company, in the heyday of independent film. I learned an enormous amount from him — most importantly, that it is possible to make a life in Hollywood without sacrificing integrity and honesty, both of which he embodied entirely, along with smarts, wisdom, and kindness. I send my sincere condolences to his loving family during this difficult time.”
Born in Poland just before the Germans invaded, Gottlieb was a Holocaust survivor who lived in Ukraine labor camps during the war and then in a displaced person’s camp in Germany.

The first lawsuit against Tyler Perry accusing him of leveraging his power in Hollywood to sexually assault aspiring male actors in his orbit was filed in June. Another lawsuit was filed Dec. 26, with the entertainment mogul characterizing claims from both of the accusers as a shakedown. But his legal troubles may just be beginning.
“There’s now two of these lawsuits,” Jonathan Delshad, a lawyer for both Perry accusers, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There may be more coming.”
In a statement, Alex Spiro, a lawyer for Perry, denied the allegations. “I said it before and I will say it again,” he said. “This is nothing but a $77 million money grab scam.”
For years, Perry has been viewed as a Hollywood success story. He runs Tyler Perry Studios, a 330-acre lot on a former Confederate army base that employs more than 500 people. It’s been championed as a crowning achievement for...

Joe Rogan wasn’t too pleased with President Donald Trump’s controversial post, attacking Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner after his tragic death earlier this month.
In a rant posted on Truth Social following the news, Trump said Reiner’s death was “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as Tds.”
During a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, featuring comedian Shane Gillis, Rogan criticized the president’s remarks, saying someone should’ve taken Trump’s “fucking phone” away from him.

Simu Liu said in a new interview with Collider that Robert Downey Jr. had a “convoy of trailers” on the set of “Avengers: Doomsday,” which the film’s cast and crew hilariously named “Downey Land.” Liu returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Shang-Chi in the 2026 tentpole opposite Downey as the villainous Doctor Doom. Downey’s return to Marvel as a villain and not in his iconic Iron Man role is fueling the majority of interest in “Doomsday.” It appears the studio pulled out all the stops on set for the Oscar winner’s grand return.
“Downey famously has this convoy of trailers and this whole area in base camp that we affectionately called Downey Land,” Liu said. “And I remember getting invited to Downey Land for the first time and just showing up in this tent, and it’s all this beautiful Andy Warhol-esque artwork, except all the characters are Downey.

In the grand scheme of awards season, we’re still in a preliminary phase. Sure, the Academy has narrowed the field to shortlists in 12 categories, the American Film Institute and National Board of Review have announced their picks for the year’s best films and the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes have revealed their nominations. But the major groups that are made up of filmmakers and film professionals rather than critics and academics have yet to chime in, which means you can’t totally trust the results you’ve seen so far.
And yet if you look at the polls and prognosticators, the field seems to be narrowing precipitously.

Let’s get this out of the way immediately: AI was the dominating trend in the music business in 2025, and nothing else comes particularly close.
Topics that felt existential just a few years ago — the need for record labels, streaming payouts, the billion-dollar royalty black box — feel tiny now as the industry faces even larger questions in the AI age: Will music fans always care if a song is AI-generated? How much of a threat are AI songs going to be? How do artists get paid? Who will own this?
While 2024 was the year the music industry struck back, filing major copyright lawsuits against some of the biggest AI music developers, 2025 represents the first year in a path to legitimization, as those legal battles are now turning into sanctioned partnerships. AI music creators are getting signed to record deals, and their tracks are starting to find their way onto the charts.

The 2025 box office was marked by big boom periods and droughts that lasted for weeks, if not months. In a way, that’s a parallel for how the year broke down for each of Hollywood’s major studios.
No studio was exempt from releasing a big box office bust, but every studio got through the year in a different way. Some made it through via specialty and low-budget releases. Others suffered multiple bombs alongside multiple billion-dollar hits. And one pulled off a streak that has never happened before in box office history.

And while the U.K. has continued to punch above its weight across film, TV and music, sadly, that also extends to some of the outrage-prompting disasters that made headlines this year. More J.K. Michael J. Fox has made his Shrinking debut.
On Tuesday, Apple TV released the trailer for the third season of Shrinking, which stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. In the trailer, Fox meets Dr. Paul Rhoades (Ford) in a waiting room.
“What are you in for?” Fox asks Paul. “Parkinson’s. You?” Paul responds, to which Fox jokes, “Just a haircut,” and they both start laughing.
Paul’s had Parkinson’s since season one. However, he initially tried to hide it until he realized he needed to face his disease.
The guest role marks Fox’s return to acting after stepping away in 2020 due to memory and speech issues from Parkinson’s disease.
Shrinking follows Jimmy’s (Segel) grieving therapist, who began breaking the rules by telling his clients exactly what he was thinking — and ignoring his ethics. By doing so, he found himself making changes in people’s lives as well as his own.

This year, a full 48 of the top 100 slots went to NFL games — up from 45 in 2024 — and that number actually jumps to 55 if you include six NFL-related studio shows and one weather delay.

Director Marcie Hume is responding to a claim that Corey Feldman was not aware of footage she shot for her just-released documentary about his life on his rock tour, “Corey Feldman vs. the World.”
Variety broke the news that, in the documentary, Feldman alleges that Corey Haim molested him. Feldman’s lawyers responded that the mention of molestation was not physical, but rather referred to Haim’s advances towards him. Feldman’s legal team also said he had “no knowledge of the production of this documentary or its release. He was not involved in the creative choices, characterization, or portrayal of his statements or others in the film.”
In a newly-released scene from Hume, Feldman grabs the camera and turns it around on the director, saying, “Two shot, here’s the deal: So Marcie’s on the bus with us, because Marcie is the documentarian who is making the film that you’re watching.

There is a recently burgeoning genre of documentaries — usually either celebrity or true crime in focus — driven not by aesthetic or storytelling imperatives but by (self-)promotional machinery. They’re unscripted movies or series that look at the life of your favorite ’80s movie stars or unsolved murders as fodder for breathless online reports titled “10 Things We Learned From …” or “[Insert Famous Person’s Name Here] Finally Reveals …”
The emphasis is on revelation and not introspection or reflection. In a way, then, a documentary like Angus Wall’s Being Eddie, a generally amiable and adulatory 90 minutes streaming on Netflix, fails; with its softly hagiographic approach, the director never pushes Eddie Murphy to any place that feels untapped or confrontational, and therefore newsworthy.
It is by this standard that Marina Zenovich’s I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not is most successful. Ahead of its New Year’s Day premiere on CNN, I’m Chevy Chase...

So, what does all that mean for Hollywood investors and the stocks they should pick?
Wall Street experts have their thoughts. And, as always, analysts differ in their recommendations for where to put your money in 2026 now that 2025 has wrapped up. What many have in common is that they see many Hollywood conglomerates as challenged investments.
Here is The Hollywood Reporter’s rundown of stocks that media and entertainment analysts have started name-checking as their top picks for the new year — from the big dogs to the smaller companies and the specialized players.

When George Clooney was preparing to make his Broadway debut appearing as CBS news correspondent Edward R. Murrow in “Good Night, and Good Luck,” he invited “60 Minutes” to sit in on rehearsals. As the cast gathered for their first read through, Clooney talked about the story’s prescience — though it’s set during McCarthyism in the 1950s, he saw parallels with the political pressure that news organizations face in the second Trump administration.
“When the other three estates fail — when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us — the fourth estate has to succeed,” Clooney said. With that he pointed his finger directly at “60 Minutes'” cameras, which are owned by the same network that employed Murrow.
But Clooney feels that CBS has fallen short of its mission. In a new cover story with Variety tied to the release of his new movie, “Jay Kelly,” Clooney faults top law firms like Paul,...
