Amazon has reorganized its audio divisions, laying off more than 100 workers and dramatically narrowing the scope of its Wondery studio.

Among those exiting in the strategic shift is Wondery CEO Jen Sargent. Marshall Lewy, who has headed up content at Wondery, is moving over to Audible, Amazon’s Newark, NJ-based subsidiary.

Narrative podcasts under Wondery’s banner will be integrated into Audible. Personality-driven talk shows like Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights will either go to Audible or be managed by a newly formed “creator services” team.

The news was first reported by Bloomberg and confirmed to Deadline by a person familiar with the situation.

While Wondery had landed a number of top podcast names, including the Kelces and LeBron James, and also developed a string of podcasts that became fodder for film and TV adaptations, it faces some formidable competition. Spotify and YouTube are major tech rivals in the podcast space,...

Amazon is reorganizing its audio entertainment operations with plans to consolidate some of the production now done across its Wondery and Audible brands. As a result of the changes, Wondery CEO Jen Sargent is exiting her post after four years at the helm of one of the industry’s largest podcast studios.

Amazon disclosed the changes with an internal memo from Steve Boom, who is VP of audio, Twitch and games for Amazon. The reorganization will include about 100 layoffs.

The Wondery brand will continue as an outlet for celebrity and personality driven podcasts such as Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” and the recent deal that Wondery struck with NBA great LeBron James and football superstars Travis and Jason Kelce.

Wondery podcasts that were more narrative-driven such as true crime favorites “Dr. Death” and “Dirty John” will now shift under the Audible brand, which encompasses original audio production as well as a vast audio book library.

If there’s one thing that’s true about “Abbott Elementary,” it’s that the hit ABC comedy wears its Philly colors loud and proud, particularly in terms of featuring the city’s local sports teams.

So far, “Abbott” has featured cameos from Eagles stars Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce and Brandon Graham in the Season 3 premiere (plus the NFL team later brought the Super Bowl trophy to set), as well as a funny Season 2 storyline with the Philadelphia Flyers’ mascot Gritty. And, at San Diego Comic-Con, series creator and star Quinta Brunson teased that there are more surprises to come.

“You can expect us to be filming at a live event,” Brunson told the crowd, somewhat cryptically. “You can do with that information what you will, because I can’t give you more information. But I do think that Philly sports fans will be very happy.”

Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed has joined the very first season of Celebrity Traitors UK. The announcement came after the actor and comedian moved his tour dates due to scheduling conflicts. Mohammed, who was nominated for two Golden Globes for playing Nate Shelley in Ted Lasso, rescheduled some dates on his Show Pony tour back in January. According to Variety, Mohammed said the rescheduling was “for some filming that I’ve not been able to shift.”

Jason Kelce is opening up about his weight loss journey!

While appearing at Amazon’s 2025 Upfront event alongside younger brother Travis Kelce, the 37-year-old retired Philadelphia Eagles player revealed his goal weight after already losing 25 pounds.

Jason went on to share that he former Philadelphia Eagles teammate Beau Allen are currently “in this weight loss body fat loss competition” at the moment.

“I don’t really want to get below 250,” Jason admitted. “So, I think somewhere between 250 and 265. We’ll see where it goes.”

Jason retired from the NFL in March 2024 after playing Center on the Eagles for 13 seasons between 2011 2023.

More sports are crashing into the streaming arena: YouTube nabbed exclusive rights to an NFL game for the 2025 season, marking the first time the video platform will livestream an NFL game for free in its entirety. The deal builds on YouTube’s pact as the U.S. home for the NFL’s Sunday Ticket premium package.

YouTube will exclusively stream the NFL’s Friday night Week 1 game of the upcoming season from São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 5, 2025, to most users globally on YouTube and YouTube TV. YouTube made the announcement ahead of its Brandcast upfront event Wednesday evening in New York.

In February, the NFL announced that it would reprise a Week 1 game at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, kicking off the 2025 International Games with the Los Angeles Chargers as the designated team. The Chargers’ opponent will be announced on Wednesday, May 14, when the full 2025 NFL schedule is released at 8 p.
