New rumor suggests Ewan McGregor could return for Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2
Image
More than three years after Obi-Wan Kenobi debuted on Disney+, a new rumor suggests the Jedi Master’s journey may not be over just yet.

According to a recent report from industry insider Daniel Richtman, Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor could return as Obi-Wan in a potential second season. No additional details were provided with no production timeline, casting confirmations, and no official green light from Lucasfilm has been announced.

Originally developed as a limited series, Obi-Wan Kenobi was marketed as "The Complete Series" upon its physical release. The show premiered in May 2022 to strong viewership and fan engagement.

Set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the show followed Obi-Wan living in exile on Tatooine as he quietly watched over a young Luke Skywalker. When young Princess Leia is kidnapped, Obi-Wan is forced out of hiding, triggering a confrontation with his former apprentice, Darth Vader, in...

After Ahsoka, Another Star Wars Show on Disney+ Is Reportedly Moving Forward With a Second Season
Image
Ahsoka may no longer be the only recent live-action Star Wars series to receive a second season. A new rumor claims that Lucasfilm is in development on another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

According to Daniel Richtman (via The Direct), Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 is now in development at Lucasfilm. Unfortunately, the scooper did not indicate when the second season might go into production or be released on Disney+. Originally envisioned as a solo film, Obi-Wan Kenobi was redeveloped into a limited series following the financial failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story. With the physical media release of Obi-Wan Kenobi labeling it as "The Complete Series" as opposed to "Season 1," it's clear that Lucasfilm initially had no intention of continuing the Disney+ show despite fan interest.

Set a decade after the Jedi Order was purged during the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, the first season...

Every Live-Action Star Wars TV Season Ranked
Image
Spoilers ahead for all live-action "Star Wars" shows.

It's been nearly six years since the great Disney+ "Star Wars" project began with "The Mandalorian" season 1 in 2019. In the absence of any theatrical films since "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," streaming has become the de facto platform for the franchise, and Lucasfilm has put out an honestly staggering amount of live-action television in just over half a decade. That's in addition to the fantastic work constantly being done by Lucasfilm Animation, but today, we're specifically talking about the live-action "Star Wars" series.

As of right now, the future of live-action "Star Wars" on Disney+ is unclear, with "Ahsoka" season 2 being the lone exception to the rule. Not only that, but "Andor" creator Tony Gilroy (while addressing the show's massive budget) has also claimed Disney told him, in his own words, "Streaming is dead, we don't have the money we had before.

All 10 Star Wars TV shows, ranked worst to best
Image
Lucasfilm has been making Star Wars TV shows for nearly two decades, starting with the animated series The Clone Wars, which began in 2008. But production really ramped up when The Mandalorian, the first-ever live-action Star Wars show, premiered in 2019. After that, Lucasfilm and Disney went crazy, making new shows almost faster than fans could keep up.

Some shows hit and some shows didn't. Now that we're deep into this experiment, it's time to take stock. Here all all 10 Star Wars TV shows yet made, ranked worst to best.

Andor Season 2 Almost Featured A Cameo From A Major Star Wars Character
Image
"Andor" might be officially over, but the reactions, revelations, and discussions surrounding the most acclaimed live-action "Star Wars" series ever certainly aren't going anywhere anytime soon. After spending years getting to know Diego Luna's Cassian Andor with far more subtlety and nuance than "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" ever had time for, we now know exactly what made him into the hardened Rebel operative we saw in the 2016 movie. Yet, even this sprawling, 12-episode final season had quite a few surprises up its sleeve -- not all of which ultimately made the final cut.

Creator and writer Tony Gilroy has been making the press rounds lately (including a recent conversation with /Film's very own Ben Pearson), and in one particular interview, he opened up about his original plans for a major original trilogy cameo that was simply not to be. The timeline of "Andor" allowed quite a few...

How 'Tales of the Underworld' ties into 'Obi-Wan Kenobi'
Image
It's always satisfying when one Star Wars project connects to another and expands on a previous idea. Recently, the Star Wars anthology series, Tales of the Underworld, made a surprising connection to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The great thing about this is that by connecting both shows, Star Wars is rewarding fans for watching animated shows. This is something we've seen often in the franchise over the last few years, beginning with The Mandalorian and continuing with other shows like Ahsoka. Several characters from animated series like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels were brought to life on The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, including Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Chopper, Cad Bane, and more.

Every ‘Star Wars’ Movie and Show From the Disney Era Ranked
Image
When it comes to Star Wars, everyone has an opinion.

Before Disney purchased the rights to the franchise, it really felt like fans might never see live-action offerings again. But the House of Mouse swooped in, for better or worse, and now we’re all swimming in an ocean of new content from a galaxy far, far away.

Whether it’s the Disney+ shows that are your bread and butter, or you’re one of the fans who think Disney has murdered the very fabric of Star Wars with every new addition, we all love to fit our opinions in a concise ranking. This is how the Disney-era of Star Wars shakes out for me.

'We Need Less Male-Centric Star Wars': Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Has the Perfect Pitch for a Teenage Leia Disney+ Series
Image
Vivien Lyra Blair is ready to return to a galaxy far, far away. The Obi-Wan Kenobi actor recently pitched the perfect way for her to play Princess Leia again in the Star Wars galaxy.

In a recent interview with Collider, Blair mentioned that it would be "really fun to do some sort of a teenage Leia." The actor then brought up how fans have told her that they "don't need" a Leia solo series, something Blair strongly disagrees with, arguing, "We need less male-centric Star Wars. We need more women because we need a strong female Star Wars Universe. I love that. So, I think it could be actually really fun."

The actor then shared her pitch for a teenage Leia series, which would feel tonally similar to other popular teen shows on TV right now like The Summer I Turned Pretty and Xo, Kitty. "I really enjoyed how they...

‘Andor’ Season 2 Won’t Feature Young Leia, Confirms ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Star
Image
Andor Season 2 is right around the corner, and one previous Star Wars Disney+ star has provided an update on their status in the series. Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered more than two years ago in 2022, and it featured the debut of Vivien Lyra Blair as a young Princess Leia. Blair’s role as Leia in the show was a hit among fans, and as Andor Season 2 draws closer by the day, everyone is curious about potential cameos and connections to the larger Star Wars universe. Blair recently caught up with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt to promote her new Heroes & Villains clothing collection, and she confirmed that, despite recent rumors, she will not be seen in Andor Season 2:

"Some people have talked about cameos in Andor. I, unfortunately, don't have anything in Andor Season 2, so you will not be seeing me there."

“We Need a Strong Female Star Wars Universe”: ’Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Young Leia Actress Has a Solid Pitch for a Star Wars Spin-Off
Image
The feeling of implicitly trusting an actor with a role is so satisfying and to see that happen in an actress so young instills the feelings of "the kids are alright." When it comes to the world of Star Wars, 12-year-old Vivien Lyra Blair seems to have a great grasp on one of the most recognizable characters of the franchise: Princess Leia Organa. Blair played a young version of the character first played by the late Carrie Fisher, in the Ewan McGregor-led series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Recently, Blair talked with Collider's Maggie Lovitt about her Heroes & Villains collection and Blair had a full pitch ready to go when asked about seeing more of Leia as she grows up, which she may have pulled from the plot of the book Leia, Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray, but if that's the case, we're just glad she's done her homework.

Vivien Lyra Blair took the world by storm when she tackled playing a young Leia Organa in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now, she's taking her Leia connection a step further: Her own Heroes & Villains line inspired by our favorite Princess. Leia has been a fashion icon since the release of Star Warsback in the 70s with her white dress and space buns. Now, Blair is bringing her own love of clothing to life with her own line, and Collider's Maggie Lovittspoke with Blair about it.

When the two chatted, Blair opened up about the process of creating the line and specifically the pieces that were so tied to Leia from Obi-Wan Kenobi. "Yes, absolutely. I had firsthand experience with all of these costumes. 3 Years Later, This Underrated Star Wars Character's Storyline Still Makes Zero Sense
Image
Quick LinksReva's Character Arc in Obi-Wan Kenobi Was Incredibly ControversialWhy Reva's Character Still Doesn't WorkWhat Happened to Reva in the Star Wars Franchise?

Obi-Wan Kenobiremains one of the more controversial Disney+ series in the Star Wars canon even three years after its release. Fans campaigned for the project for years, demanding one more adventure for Ewan McGregor's destitute Jedi Master. However, the final product proved to be disappointing for many Star Wars fans, who praised McGregor's performance but found the overall series rather lackluster. While much better received than The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte, the Obi-Wan-centric series could never live up to more popular Disney+ projects like Andor and The Mandalorian.

One of the biggest controversies surrounding Obi-Wan Kenobi was Moses Ingram's character. The Queen's Gambit actress plays Reva Semander, the Third Sister of the Imperial Inquisitorious who serves as a major antagonist in the series.

10 PG-13 Horror Movies That Would Have Benefited From An R-Rating
Image
Plenty of great horror movies would have been even more frightening, unnerving, and effective had they received the strict adult-only R-rating. While PG-13 movies have the potential to explore some gruesome and terrifying concepts, filmmakers are limited in how much gore they show or how depraved the psychological torment their characters experience can be. Although all these horror movies had their scary moments, an R rating would have allowed them to take extra steps in the realm of overwhelming terror.

While it’s understandable that film studios often wish to pursue a PG-13 rating wherever possible, as this allows for tickets to be purchased by more consumers, horror movies are often more effective with an R-rating. Whether it's through more intense visuals or a deeper adult-oriented exploration of characters, R-rated horrors represent some of the best scary movies ever made. Although all these horror movies have value, it’s hard...

10 Horror Movies To Watch If You Loved A Quiet Place
Image
John Krasinski made a major splash in 2018 with his debut horror feature, A Quiet Place. Along with co-writing and directing, Krasinski also starred in the film opposite Academy Award nominee Emily Blunt (his real-life wife). The thrilling film takes place in the near future, after Earth has been overtaken by violent aliens that hunt by sound. The audience is put in the shoes of a family who struggles to survive in a world in which making noise could result in certain death.

A Quiet Place was not only a hit in the horror community, but actually gained a massive audience around the world, as it ended up appealing to many people who wouldn't typically enjoy horror. Part of this is due to the way the film relies more heavily on suspense, as opposed to things like gore and excessive jump scares. The inclusion of a clever, captivating plot and several...

One Major Obi-Wan Kenobi Change Shows Star War Has Forgotten One Of George Lucas' Most Important Lessons
Image
A significant change made in Obi-Wan Kenobi suggests that Star Wars has abandoned one of George Lucas' earliest concepts, and it's been a disappointing turn for the franchise. Obi-Wan Kenobi was a truly thrilling addition to Star Wars movies and TV shows, especially because it brought back many of Star Wars' best characters. In addition to Ewan McGregor returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi introduced 10-year-old Luke Skywalker (Grant Feely) and Leia Organa (Vivien Lyra Blair).

Along with these characters came the revelation that Leia and Obi-Wan had a much more extensive connection than A New Hope or Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith let on. Those movies made it seem like Leia had not encountered Obi-Wan after she was born in Revenge of the Sith, but Obi-Wan Kenobi revealed that Obi-Wan and Leia had a...

Michael Keatons Second Best Performance of 2024 Is Wasted on a Disappointing Movie
Image
Andy Goodrich (Michael Keton) is a jerk. He moves through his namesake movie with solipsistic blinders. He doesn't even notice that his wife, Naomi (Laura Benanti), isn't in bed beside him. One day, Naomi calls Andy in the middle of the night to inform him that she's checked herself into Journeys: a 90-day rehabilitation program for substance abuse, and, it's implied, Andy's neglect. Naomi is an addict; she takes pills to wake up, go to sleep, and likely throughout the day to maintain an even keel. Andy had, and continues to have, no idea. He was entirely unaware of Naomi's pill-popping and much more beyond the purview of his self-aggrandizing art gallery, Goodrich: a boutique operation that has been Andy's favorite child for nearly 30 years.

Andy pleads with Naomi not to leave him, but the decision has been made. Now, Andy suddenly finds himself as the sole caretaker of two 9-year-old children,...

Goodrich Review: Michael Keaton shines as an older Mr. Mom in this endearing comedy
Image
Plot: After his younger second wife leaves him and enters a 90-day rehab program, Los Angeles art dealer Andy Goodrich seeks out his adult pregnant daughter Grace for help with raising his nine-year-old twins.

Review: I love Michael Keaton movies. In the 1980s and 1990s, Keaton was the ubiquitous leading man in everything from comedies and dramas to his game-changing turn in Tim Burton’s Batman. In the early 2000s, Keaton’s roles dried up a bit, aside from voice roles in the Cars and Toy Story franchises. After his awards-worthy role in 2014’s Birdman, Keaton had a resurgence with acclaimed films like The Founder, Spotlight, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 to a very different comic book character in Spider-Man: Homecoming. After reprising his Batman role in last year’s The Flash and making his directorial debut with Knox Goes Away, he resurrected his iconic Beetlejuice this year...

‘Goodrich’ Review: Michael Keaton-Starring Dramedy Teases a Better Movie That Doesn’t Quite Emerge
Image
Unexpected phone rings received in the middle of the night aren’t usually the bearer of good news. In “Home Again” writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s middling LA-based dramedy “Goodrich,” the title character (played by Michael Keaton) learns it the hard way. A call from his wife wakes Andy Goodrich up in the wee hours, informing this shocked, aloof husband (who hasn’t even noticed that she wasn’t home) that she’s checked into a Malibu rehab for 90 days to address her addiction problem, leaving Andy to care for their 9-year-old twins. Also, she tells him she’ll be leaving him as soon as she’s out.

Affecting with his mournful gaze, expressively arched eyebrows and the signature mystique of his husky voice, an understated Keaton carries this insightful and generously composed opening, proving that the septuagenarian actor is as game for material grounded in earthly concerns as he is...

‘Goodrich’ Review: Michael Keaton In Top Form As An Absent Dad Trying To Change In Heartfelt, Funny And Sweet Dramedy
Image
These days, every time I see a relatable, character-driven comedy about actual human beings I think, “Wow they sure don’t make ’em like this anymore.” It is like a shock to the system that someone managed to get one made and released. It makes me sad since this was once a popular genre with with major studios regularly filled theaters. Now at best it is left to streamers, or an occasional example that somehow sneaks onto a studio release schedule, or, in the case of writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s exceptionally smart and endearing Goodrich, it is being delivered to theaters by an independent (in this case Ketchup Entertainment) and sporting an endless list of “executive producers” (I counted 24 with that title) who put up enough money to get a deserving film on the screen against all odds.

I also find it heartening that Meyers-Shyer, the daughter of two of...

‘Goodrich’ Review: Michael Keaton Anchors Warmly Humanist Family Comedy
Image
Andy Goodrich (Michael Keaton) is edging toward his seventh decade of life when his wife, Naomi (Laura Benanti), announces that she’s checked into a Malibu rehab facility for 90 days. She also lets him know she wants a divorce. Andy, whose Los Angeles gallery of many years is on the verge of shuttering, is now facing the reality of needing to step up as a parent for his nine-year-old twins (Vivien Lyra Blair and Jacob Kopera).

These are the rather mundane inciting incidents of Goodrich, and writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer thankfully doesn’t juice them up with too much schematic plotting. Her second feature is an easygoing character study that’s stripped of the sitcom-y schtick of her first, 2017’s Home Again. At its best, Goodrich makes the canny choice to neither condemn its protagonist as a toxic villain nor redeem him as a good-hearted saint. He’s just Goodrich.

Andy...

Goodrich Review: A Midlife Crisis Comedy-Drama That Finds Its Heart In Michael Keatons Performance
Image
The opening scene of Goodrich is as abrupt for us as for its protagonist. Michael Keaton's Andy Goodrich is startled awake by a late-night phone call from his wife, Naomi (Laura Benanti). Warning him not to freak out, she tells him she's checked herself into a 90-day rehab program. His first instinct is to assume she's joking he not only hadn't noticed his wife didn't come home that night, but was completely unaware she was struggling with prescription pills. Suddenly, Naomi's the one blowing up, and she informs Andy that she's also leaving him.

‘Goodrich’ Review: Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis Buoy a Good-Natured Dramedy Drowning in Clichés
Image
When Andy Goodrich’s wife, Naomi (Laura Benanti), tells him that she’s checked herself into rehab and plans to leave him, few people are surprised. Everyone knew the mother of his two elementary school-aged children reached for pills at night to lull her to sleep and indulged in extra glasses of wine.

That the news nevertheless shocks Andy, played with an endearing clumsiness by Michael Keaton, speaks more to his own distracted state. The gallerist has never been a present partner or parent, as evidenced by his relationship to his eldest daughter (Mila Kunis) with his first wife (Andie MacDowell). Now that his current union is on the brink of ruin, Andy feels pressure to change.

Goodrich, Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s second feature, observes Andy as he tries to be a better father. The narrative coasts on the familiar beats of this premise, offering only a handful of novel moments along the way.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor Claims ‘We’re Exploring’ Season 2 Possibilities
Image
The Force of positive thinking continues to be strong with Ewan McGregor, who said at L.A. Comic Con this past weekend that he and… someone… are “exploring” possibilities for a second season of Disney+’s live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars series.

Set 10 years after the events of 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1 found our titular hero hiding out from the force-sensitive agents, known as Inquisitors, who were tasked with dispatching all surviving Jedi.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Writer Opens Up About His Scrapped Star Wars Film Trilogy
Ewan McGregor, James Earl Jones, Hayden Christensen, and Dmitrious Bistrevsky in Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
While many believe Obi-Wan Kenobi would have been better as a film rather than a TV series, one of the show's writers recently revealed that he planned it to be a trilogy. Obi-Wan Kenobi, released on Disney+ in 2022, is a solid Star Wars entry, with a standout performance by Ewan McGregor in the titular role and the long awaited return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally planned as a film centered on the Jedi Master's confrontations with the Imperial Army and Darth Vader. While it was shelved and turned into a TV series, writer Stuart Beattie had meant it to be a film trilogy and sought Lucasfilm to make it happen, much to his dismay.

The Best Horror Movies Streaming This Month Are Stephen King Adaptations (September 2024)
Image
Folks, we've made it: we're officially in September, which means it's now Spooky Season. Sure, you could argue that the Halloween festivities shouldn't start until October, but I say: nuts to that! Summer is over (more or less), the temperatures are dropping (sometimes), and it's time to start watching horror movies left and right. If you're anything like me, you know that any time of the year is a good time for horror — I'll watch a horror movie in January, I'm so crazy! — but there's something extra special about embracing the genre as we get closer and closer to Halloween. It's almost as if we're given an excuse to cut loose and watch as many scary movies as we possibly can. Tis this season, after all.

With all that in mind, for this month's horror streaming column I've decided to bring out the big guns: Stephen King movies. It's probably...

47 Years Later, Mark Hamill Celebrates The "Effortless Feminism" Of A New Hope
Image
Mark Hamill praised Princess Leia's feminist arc in A New Hope, which introduced her as a powerful, take-charge hero in the Star Wars universe. Leia's role in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi proved essential to the Rebellion and the future of the Jedi, showing her strength. Despite decades of new characters, Leia remains one of the most impressive and beloved figures in Star Wars history, influencing the franchise deeply.

At Fan Expo Chicago, Star Wars legend Mark Hamill had very high praise for A New Hope, specifically pertaining to the representation of Princess Leia and the movie's feminist story arc. A New Hope remains one of the most beloved additions to Star Wars movies and TV shows. In fact, despite the nearly 50 years since the original trilogy debuted, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi are still frequently regarded as being Star Wars' best movies.

"The Heart Was Gone": Mark Hamill Reflects On Carrie Fisher's Death & Star Wars
Image
Mark Hamill expressed profound sadness over Carrie Fisher's passing, highlighting how much her loss impacted the Star Wars franchise. Fisher's death left a lasting impact on Hamill, who admitted that he still struggles to talk about it due to the pain it brings. Leia Organa's legacy in Star Wars, as well as Fisher's, remains significant and irreplaceable, making it challenging for the franchise to move forward.

Mark Hamill offered a touching reflection on Carrie Fisher's tragic passing and the impact this loss had on Star Wars during Fan Expo Chicago this weekend. Carrie Fisher passed away in December 2016, and the entire franchise mourned her loss; however, this was undoubtedly much harder on Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, who became close with Fisher at the very beginning of Star Wars movies and TV shows nearly 50 years ago. Hamill spoke beautifully and sadly about this, making clear how profound the impact of Fisher's death really was.

Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis Navigate Family Dynamics in “Goodrich”
Michael Keaton
The first trailer for the upcoming film “Goodrich” gives viewers a glimpse at the story of a father reconnecting with his adult daughter. Starring Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis, “Goodrich” centers on Andy Goodrich, played by Keaton, whose life is upended when his wife enters rehab, leaving him to care for their young twins alone. Overwhelmed, Andy turns to his daughter Grace, played by Kunis, for help despite their strained past relationship.

The trailer highlights the age difference between Andy and Grace. “I am 27 years older than you, which is basically unheard of for siblings… except maybe in LA,” Kunis’s character Grace jokes to Andy’s twin children. This line sets the tone for a story that blends humor with emotional depth in exploring family dynamics. As a single father struggling with work and parenting, Andy must face his failures as Grace’s father in the past. Meanwhile, Grace...

Bird Box's Ending, Explained
Image
Bird Box ends on a hopeful note, but despite its optimistic ending, it still leaves many unanswered questions. Malorie went on an emotional journey and finally opened her heart to her family. The world of Bird Box still needs to give humanity a fighting chance.

Bird Box quickly rose to prominence when it came out in 2018, and while the movie's suspenseful atmosphere had fans on the edge of their seats, the ending left a lot of questions unanswered. The true horror of the plot lay in the fact that the film's monsters were not something that could be fought, only avoided. Humanity is forced to hide from these unseen villains and hope that this was enough to stay safe. Given how the events of the movie played out, however, even the safest of places often feel like they are living on borrowed time.

Despite its terrifying premise, Bird Box ends...

Star Wars Gives Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lola Droid The Perfect Legacy
Image
Leia used Lola to record thoughts on serving in Palpatine's Senate in a book. Lola, Leia's personal droid, was lost in Alderaan's destruction, but her legacy remains strong and impactful. Lola helped Leia grow into the beacon of guidance needed for the galaxy, showcasing a small droid's big impact.

Star Wars has given Princess Leias Lola droid, as introduced in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the perfect, lasting legacy. In Obi-Wan Kenobi, audiences are introduced to a version of Leia Organa never seen before shes young, impulsive, incredibly observant, and a little cheeky, all attributes that served her well during the Galactic Civil War. However, one other interesting thing Obi-Wan Kenobi revealed about Leia is that she once had a personal droid, too a young bug-like droid named L0-LA59, more affectionately known as Lola.

As the franchise has proven again and again, Star Wars droids are not only incredibly helpful but loyal,...

Star Wars: 11 Things That Make No Sense About Princess Leia
Image
Leia's lack of mourning for Alderaan and her minimal response to the destruction of her planet is still confusing nearly 50 years later. Leia's decision to name her son Ben after Obi-Wan Kenobi was a bizarre choice that seemed uncharacteristic. Leia's absence as a Force ghost for Ben's death in The Rise of Skywalker contradicts her character and her redemption efforts.

Princess Leia Organa is one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars, yet these 11 things about her make no sense. Leia Organa has been prominently featured in Star Wars movies and TV shows from the very beginning, and her legacy continues to have an impact. In fact, even since Carrie Fisher tragically passed away, Star Wars has found creative ways to continue incorporating the character into new projects, from animated appearances to complex de-aging technology.

While Leia is certainly one of Star Wars' best characters, several significant aspects...

Star Wars: Why Princess Leia Briefly Has a British Accent in A New Hope
Image
Princess Leia's randomly appearing and disappearing British accent in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope has confounded fans for decades. Carrie Fisher explained she felt the dialogue sounded more appropriate and emotional in a British accent. The 2016 novel Star Wars: Bloodline offers an explanation that Leia used the British accent to mock Grand Moff Tarkin.

Released in 1977, Star Wars: A New Hope launched a $10.3 billion film franchise, and changed cinematic history. But in addition to introducing characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, and their galactic war between good and evil, the movie also injected an unlikely mystery: Princess Leia's suddenly appearing, and then disappearing, English accent.

Captured in the film's opening by Vader, who is convinced the Republic senator is smuggling plans to the Death Star (spoiler: she is), Leia is transported to the Empire's fearsome new battle station. There, American actress Carrie Fisher comes face to face...

How Old Was Princess Leia In Each Star Wars Movie & TV Show?
Image
Princess Leia Organa, the iconic and well-known female character in the Star Wars franchise, has had a remarkable journey throughout her life. At just 10 years old, Leia met Obi-Wan Kenobi in the series Obi-Wan Kenobi, showcasing her independence and confidence even at a young age. At 19 years old, Leia played a crucial role in the Rebel Alliance during the events of Rogue One and A New Hope, taking on significant responsibilities and leading her fellow rebels in the fight against the Empire.

Princess Leia Organa is the most well-known female character in all of Star Wars, but many don't know how old she was when she was saving the galaxy and fighting the Galactic Empire. As soon as she was first introduced in A New Hope, her signature hairstyle and quick-witted leadership made her an icon for generations of viewers. Did Vader Know Leia Was His Daughter in A New Hope?
Image
Darth Vader's inability to sense the connection with Leia was due to her unique Force abilities and passive nature. Leia's adoptive father, Bail Organa, played a role in protecting her by shielding her from the dark side of the Force. Darth Vader's own denial of his past as Anakin Skywalker contributed to his lack of awareness about Leia being his daughter.

During the iconic opening moments of Star Wars: A New Hope, Darth Vader has a tense confrontation with Princess Leia, an adversary who, unbeknownst to him, is actually his daughter. Despite participating in Leia's interrogation, the Sith Lord doesn't uncover his familial connection with the rebellious royal. In contrast, Vader sensed his connection to Luke Skywalker almost immediately. How did Vader detect his relationship with one of his offspring but not the other? The short answer is that creator George Lucas had no idea Leia would end up...

“He’s the father that stepped up”: Obi-Wan May Not be a Stronger Jedi than Luke and Anakin But He Deserves the Best Father Crown in Star Wars
Image
Even the strongest of Jedis aren’t exempt from the tragedy of daddy issues. Just look at Luke Skywalker. Can you imagine having Darth Vader as a father? Yikes. Fortuitously enough for the farmer-turned-legendary-Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi turned out to be the knight in shining armor he didn’t know he needed.

Ewan McGregor as and in Obi-Wan Kenobi | Disney/Lucasfilm Ltd.

But – as all things Star Wars often do – this take has created a fissure among fans because not everyone sees Obi-Wan as a father figure for Luke and Leia, at least not a worthy one.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Deserves Recognition For His Fatherhood

Obi-Wan may not be the greatest and most formidable Jedi in the galactic saga, but he’s certainly done enough for Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa to be acknowledged as a father figure, despite the two not being his biological children.

Sure, the noble Jedi Master wasn’t flawless (who is?...

Star Wars' New TV Show Takes A George Lucas Retcon To The Next Level
Image
The Acolyte will connect to a famous George Lucas retcon. The show will feature Force-sensitive twins Mae and Osha. The Acolyte's new sibling pair will offer a fresh take on the Luke and Leia retcon.

Star Wars: The Acolyte, Star Wars' next Disney+ TV show, will connect to one George Lucas retcon in the best way. The Acolyte may be Star Wars' newest show, but it will actually be further in the past than any of Star Wars' movies and TV shows thus far. Set 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in the Star Wars timeline, The Acolyte will explore the High Republic Era, the golden age of the Jedi and the Republic.

Despite The Acolyte's setting in the distant past, though, it will clearly connect to the original Star Wars trilogy. In fact, The Acolyte has a direct connection to one George Lucas retcon that...

One Rise Of Skywalker Detail Secretly Hinted Leia Made Her Peace With Anakin
Image
Leia's outfit in The Rise of Skywalker suggests she has forgiven Anakin, resembling his Clone Wars armor. In the movie's junior novel, Leia finally forgave Anakin moments before her death, making peace with him as a father. Both Leia and Anakin return as disembodied voices in The Rise of Skywalker, showing Leia's forgiveness.

One notable detail in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hints that General Leia made peace with her father, Anakin Skywalker. Following Anakins fall to the dark side and reemergence as Darth Vader, Leia was raised on Alderaan by Bail and Breha Organa, becoming a politician and leader within the Rebel Alliance. Naturally, considering Darth Vaders numerous atrocities as the second-in-command of the Galactic Empire, he and Leia were bitter enemies throughout the Galactic Civil War, with neither knowing of their familial relationship during their interactions.

Maya Erskine's Brother Jokingly Threatened To 'Disown' Her Over Obi-Wan Kenobi
Image
There are dream jobs, and then there are dream jobs. Acting seems like one of the more potentially fun dreams, especially when someone gets cast in a major franchise. Who among us hasn't imagined getting to be a part of "Star Wars," "Star Trek," the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or whatever movie or television series makes our hearts beat faster? Talk about living the dream. Heck, sometimes those dreams can even be shared, with friends or family members getting to live vicariously through the actor. In the case of actor Maya Erskine, who recently starred as one half of the spy duo "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on Prime, one particularly intense "Star Wars" fan in her family even (jokingly) threatened to disown her if she didn't take a role on the Disney+ series "Obi-Wan Kenobi."

On the series, Erskine plays Sully Stark, a pilot who helps rescue and transport Jedi who...

The Boogeyman' Isn't an Adaptation of Stephen Kings Story, It's a Sequel
Image
With Rob Savages The Boogeyman, horror fiends may have noticed that the film is not exactly faithful to the beloved Stephen King short story it is based on. For starters, Kings protagonist, Lester Billings, only shows up for a few minutes, played by the always formidable David Dastmalchian. Instead, the movie follows two new characters, Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair) and Sadie (Sophie Thatcher), sisters who become targets for the titular monster. Thats because Savages The Boogeyman is not a direct adaptation of Kings short story. Its actually a sequel.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Almost Had an Even Darker Opening
Image
“Obi-Wan. Now, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time… A long time.” Every Star Wars fan recognizes that line as one of the first things that the great Sir Alec Guinness says as Obi-Wan Kenobi at the start of A New Hope. For years, these fans have wondered what could have happened to poor Ben to wipe his much cooler name from memory.

While the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi gave fans an answer, it could have been so much worse. Early planning for the follow-up to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith involved a much darker intro scene for Ewan McGregor‘s fallen Jedi Master, much worse than working on an assembly line cutting up a “sand whale” or living in a cave on Tatooine.

“I said, all I can see is him broken after some time after Episode III and he’s in a really dark place,...
