Netflix has revealed the first trailer for Next Gen Chef, a new global cooking competition series that launches on September 17, 2025. The show, filmed at the Culinary Institute of America, is being pitched as one of Netflix’s most ambitious reality series yet.

Across eight episodes, each running 45 minutes, 21 chefs under the age of 30 will go head-to-head in intense culinary challenges. The goal is to discover a young chef who has the talent and leadership to shape the future of fine dining.

The series is produced by Alfred Street Industries, UltraBoom Media, Fulwell Entertainment, and the Culinary Institute of America itself. LeBron James and Maverick Carter are among the executive producers.

Exclusive: Netflix is dishing up its latest food format and has set influencer Olivia Culpo as host.

The streamer is launching Next Gen Chef, which sees 21 of America’s hottest young chefs under the age of 30 compete at prestigious culinary school The Culinary Institute of America, on September 17.

Carlton McCoy and Kelsey Barnard Clark will serve as judges. McCoy is a master sommelier who previously hosted CNN travel series Nomad with Carlton McCoy, while Barnard Clark won Season 16 of Top Chef.

Culpo has previously served as a judge Hell’s Kitchen and the former Miss Universe, who is married to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, previously starred in TLC reality series The Culpo Sisters.

The eight-part series is produced by Project Runway producer Alfred Street Industries, UltraBoom Media, which was founded by a group that includes Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown producer and director Erik Osterholm, and Fulwell Entertainment.

On the subject of “Fishes,” the Christmas flashback episode from The Bear’s second season, Platt revealed that series creator Christopher Storer had been hearing from actors who wanted to appear on the show, but that Storer’s vision was so clear, such actors’ fame or glamor were of no consequence to him: “Like, f—ing Marlon Brando could be calling him, and if Marlon wasn’t right for whatever the role, he’d find a polite way to say, ‘I’m so flattered. The showrunner recently spilled the release date as June 15 at the Thunderbolts* Los Angeles red carpet premiere, however, the actual release date is slightly different. Per Variety, FX confirmed The Bear Season 4 will premiere on June 25 on Hulu.

The new season will premiere almost exactly one year after the previous installment. Season 3 was released in full on June 26, 2024. Now, Season 4 will follow in Season 3's footsteps almost on the same date, with a release on June 25. “The Many Lives of Martha Stewart” is a four-part series produced by CNN Studios, a division devoted to longer-form and enterprise programming in the wake of a strategic decision made in 2022 to scale back big ambitions to compete in the documentary arena. Under previous leader Jeff Zucker, CNN extended its aegis to the world of film festivals and documentary series led by notables such as Anthony Bourdain, Lisa Ling and W. Kamau Bell.

Nahla Capital and Gpi Companies, the developers of the Rosewood Residences, have announced that top L.A. real estate agents Sally Forster Jones and Tomer Fridman of Compass have been tapped to exclusively lead sales for the luxury project, which broke ground in June of last year and is expected to open near the end of 2024.

Café Boulud is coming to Beverly Hills in a move that marks chef Daniel Boulud’s first West Coast operation. The restaurant is expected to open in late 2023 at the Mandarin Oriental Residences Beverly Hills, a new boutique condominium (the first to open in the neighborhood in a decade) offering 54 private residences, developed by luxury real estate investment and development firm Shvo.

The Café Boulud brand is named after the original Café Boulud, founded by Boulud’s great-grandparents on the family’s farm outside of Lyon, France. In honor of this heritage, Boulud focuses his menu on classic French dishes, seasonal specialties determined by the local market, vegetables and global flavors.

Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar nominee Michelle Yeoh skipped the Super Bowl in favor of a private dinner prepared by Michelin-star chef Daniel Boulud and hosted by Mandarin Oriental Residences and real estate developer Michael Shvo on Feb. 12.

The actress, who jetted in from London for the weekend (and the Oscar nominees luncheon where she caught up with Tom Cruise), was on break from filming her role as Madame Morrible in the Jon Chu-directed big-screen adaptation of the musical Wicked. Of the much anticipated adaptation of the Broadway smash, she tells THR that the movie is going amazingly so far.

“Jon Chu has always been such an incredible filmmaker, and they were right to wait for the right time to find the right director,” she says before turning her attention to her co-stars, playing Glinda and Elphaba, respectively. “And with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, it’s like a dream.

Stars are jumping into the nonalcoholic adult beverage market with their own brands; sales are up dramatically in the 395 million sector (rising 20.6 percent between August 2021 and August 2022, according to market research company NielsenIQ); and a growing list of celebs are speaking out about alcohol-free, sober and sober-curious lifestyles (Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Chrissy Teigen, Drew Barrymore and Kit Harington among them). And now that summer is officially here, there’s nothing like a lively patio, especially in the power-lunch centers of Beverly Hills and Century City, where the majority of talent agencies and entertainment law firms are perched.

Industry regulars say that patios throughout Century City and Beverly Hills are bustling these days. “As Beyoncé declares in her new single, ‘Break My Soul,’ we are ‘back outside’,” says Patrik-Ian Polk, co-executive producer of Starz’s P-Valley. “As convenient as Zoom meetings are, nothing beats the in-person L.A. business lunch circuit. It’s a vital part of the entertainment industry social scene that was sorely missed.” UTA partner Darnell Strom tells THR that he feels it’s harder to get a reservation “last second” right now in the area.

Five chefs remained in “Top Chef: Houston” for “We’re on a Boat” the last challenge before the finals: Damarr Brown, Evelyn Garcia, Buddha Lo, Nick Wallace, and comeback kid Sarah Welch.
