I know, I know, I was skeptical at first when Deadline broke the news, but the more and more I heard about the show, the more I realized this was the iteration of a reboot/revival that we deserve and need. Not only are the creators of Gossip Girl, Josh Schwartz (who also created The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage on board, but Clueless star Alicia Silverstone will be back to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz!

Today's news has got fans of Amy Heckerling's coming-of-age masterpiece "Clueless" waffling between totally freaking and totally bugging, because according to Variety, the Peacock streaming service is currently developing a sequel series with star Alicia Silverstone set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz. 

If this sounds like old news, it's because you're probably thinking of a different Peacock "Clueless" series that was announced back in 2020 and slated to star Stacey Dash, reviving her role as Cher's ride-or-die bestie Dionne. Well, that series is no longer happening, and this series currently has Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage attached to write, along with Jordan Weiss. The trio will executive produce alongside Silverstone, and they'll be joined by the original film's producer, Robert Lawrence, and writer/director Heckerling as executive producers as well.

The 1995 film Clueless, which is set to have its milestone 30th anniversary in July, is one of the best teen films of its time (and all time!), and it continues to resonate with audiences today. How can fans celebrate 30 years of Clueless this year? Well, they can start early with the news that a TV series follow-up is in the works with a familiar face set to make a return.

Per Deadline, a Clueless follow-up TV series is in the works at Peacock and – as if! – Alicia Silverstone is totally on board to return as Cher Horowitz, a role she originated in the 1995 film that started it all. In addition to the legacy pedigree in front of the camera, the writing team is no stranger to crafting material adored by generations of teens.

Alicia Silverstone will reprise her iconic “Clueless” role of Cher Horowitz for a TV series based on the classic 1990s film, TheWrap has learned. She is also attached to executive produce the follow-up, along with Amy Heckerling, who directed and wrote the 1995 comedy, and producer Robert Lawrence.

It’s being developed by CBS Studios in association with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Peacock.

Writers and executive producers on the series are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage through their Fake Empire banner. They previously teamed on “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl.”

Jordan Weiss, who created the Kat Dennings Hulu series “Dollface” and scripted upcoming Disney sequel “Freakier Friday,” will also serve as writer and EP. She was also a writer on the Max animated series “Harley Quinn” and directed and co-wrote 2024’s holiday romcom “Sweethearts,” which starred Kiernan Shipka.

The 1995 film, Clueless,is turning 30 this year (which is "totally buggin’"). The movie was turned into a short-lived television series in 1996, starring Rachel Blanchard in the role of Cher Horowitz was made famous by Alicia Silverstone. Clueless ran for three seasons on ABC and Upn, but fans were left wondering if Silverstone would ever reprise her role as the spoiled do-gooder.

The wait is now over. Per Deadline, a Clueless reboot is in the works at Peacock, and Silverstone is attached to star and executive produce the series. Unlike the original Clueless starring Silverstone, the reboot will be a TV series instead of another feature film. Get a clue! Peacock is developing a sequel series based on the ’90s favorite “Clueless,” and Alicia Silverstone is attached to star in the series reprising her role as Cher Horowitz, IndieWire has learned.

The Peacock show is described only as a follow-up sequel show to the 1995 cult favorite film from director and writer Amy Heckerling (who will EP the series), and while there have been some rumors about the exact focus of the show floating around, creative details are being kept under wraps for now. The series is currently in development for the streamer.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of “Gossip Girl” and “Nancy Drew” fame will write the series alongside “Freakier Friday” scribe Jordan Weiss, and all three will executive produce the series. Schwartz and Savage are producing through their banner Fake Empire.

Silverstone is also executive producing the series, as is Heckerling and the film’s original producer Robert Lawrence.

Cher Horowitz may be on her way back to the screen.

The current iteration of Clueless is not related to another take on the story that Peacock began developing in 2020 — and scuttled nine months later. That show had a mystery-fueled plot that centered on Cher disappearing and her best friend Dionne (played by Stacey Dash in the movie) investigating what happened.

Get your Feeny calls ready. Most of the main cast of “Boy Meets World” is set to reunite at ’90s Con in Tampa, Florida. The event will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the sitcom, which aired from 1993 to 2000.

Confirmed cast for the “Boy Meets World” reunion include Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), Trina McGee (Angela Moore), Matthew Lawrence (Jack Hunter), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Bonnie Bartlett Daniels (Dean Lila Bolander), Betsy Randle (Amy Matthews), William Russ (Alan Matthews) and Lee Norris (Stuart Minkus). While speaking with Entertainment Tonight at ’90s Con over the weekend, Dash said it “would be up to Amy [Heckerling, the original movie’s director]” as to whether the cast would get back together for another take on the ’90s staple.

“Everybody seems to think that we have some sort of opinion or idea,” Donovan added. “I certainly feel like there is a real desire from fans and the public to see that.”

As for where their characters, Dionne and Amber, would be more than two and a half decades later, Donovan said that “seeing them as adults and in their lives as grown-ups and with children or without children would be pretty hilarious.”

After 28 years, Alicia Silverstone reprised her role as Cher Horowitz from the cult classic Clueless for Rakuten’s Super Bowl commercial on Sunday.

Paying homage to a debate scene from the original movie, Silverstone, 46, is filmed walking to the front of the classroom, wearing her iconic yellow plaid jacket, which was redesigned for the commercial by Christian Siriano, who had a cameo in the ad as well.

Silverstone was also joined by fellow Clueless cast member, Elisa Donovan, who reprised her role as Cher’s nemesis, Amber, for the commercial.

The ad starts with Silverstone as Cher Horowitz saying that she “used to be pretty clueless about shopping” in a scene reminiscent of the 1995 film comedy taking place in Mr. Hall’s debate class. To recreate the scene from the Amy Heckerling-directed movie, Cher even had her nemesis Amber, played by Elisa Donovan, next to her.

Another callback from the film takes Silverstone into Cher’s rotating closet picking out clothes, a scene at Rodeo Drive and a location in front of the Horowitz’s Beverly Hills mansion that includes the iconic white Jeep. From the looks of it, Cher hasn’t gotten any better at driving and things keep popping up “out of nowhere.

Among the batch of early releases is a commercial for the online cash back program Rakuten, which works as an extension on your computer or an app on your phone that helps you get coupons and cash back when shopping. Rakuten went all out for their Super Bowl commercial with a scene that features one of the most recognizable characters in teen movie history: Cher Horowitz from "Clueless." Alicia Silverstone is reprising the role she played 28 years ago, alongside Elisa Donovan, who played antagonist Amber in the film.

The Youth Artist Academy Awards (hyperlink – https://youngartistacademy.org/) are often referred to as the “Youth Oscars” and they honor the best and brightest upcoming stars in Hollywood. Previous winners of the awards include Julia Roberts, Drake, Zendaya, Regina King and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Paramount Pictures is in early talks to develop a remake of the 1995 film “Clueless,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

“Girls Trip” writer Tracy Oliver is set to produce, while “Glow” writer Marquita Robinson is penning the script. However, there is no script yet.

The original “Clueless” was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and starred Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash, Donald Faison, Elisa Donovan and Brittany Murphy.

Donald Faison encountered a very Clueless fan on Tuesday.

The 44-year-old actor who starred in the beloved ’90s film, shared a selfie on Instagram posing with a teenager wearing a T-shirt with the entire cast on it.

However, the teen clearly chose the shirt for the sake of fashion and not to pay homage to the movie as she had no idea who Faison was.

There’s no magical spell to convince Melissa Joan Hart’s kids to watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

“I tried!” she tells Et. “They're so not into it. I think it's because it [stars] me. I'm like, 'But, guys, there's a talking cat!' They're into this show, The Thundermans, and they have a talking bunny. I'm like, 'Guys, if you like this show, you'll love Sabrina.' But then, I can't really watch it. I tried. Director Angie Wang decided that the story of her youthful days as a struggling college student turned into a drug dealer was perfect for the big screen.

Wang took initiative to direct and to write the narrative film Cardinal X based on actual events from her life.

The film follows a college girl back in 1984, who struggled with college payments. She turned to making ecstasy in the chemistry labs and organized a drug dealing network in night clubs. Eventually, the fast-paced, high-life all came crashing down.

The film stars Annie Q, Francesca Eastwood, Elisa Donovan, Noah Segan, Henry Zaga, Yetide Badaki, Pierson Fode and Aalyrah Caldwell.

Lrm had an opportunity to speak with Angie Wang for Cardinal X at the press day event at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

We managed to talk about on what was real and fictionalized for the film, her previous life and putting it all on screen today.

Twenty-two years ago, Cher Horowitz, the posh teenager at the center of the film Clueless, gave an excellent metaphor in support of letting refugees into America. Her quotes from the classroom-set scene became popular with the protesters opposing Trump's executive order that bans refugees and citizens of seven Muslim countries.

During an in-class debate, Mr. Hall (played by Wallace Shawn) poses a question to Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and her classmate Amber (Elisa Donovan). "Should all oppressed people be allowed refuge in America?" he asks of his students, noting that Cher would take the pro position.

We love Clueless more than is probably acceptable, so when we heard that director Amy Heckerling is working on a jukebox musical we got seriously excited (and even started breaking in our purple clogs in preparation).

But one big question remains - who's going to be in the production? After all, Heckerling admitted that casting would be the biggest issue, so we started thinking about who could step into the iconic roles of Cher, Josh, Tai, Elton et al. Below are some of our suggestions, but let us know who you think should get involved.

Cher (Alicia Silverstone) - Kiernan Shipka

Admittedly, our first thought for Cher was Taylor Swift, because she's our first thought for most things. But actually, wouldn't Kiernan Shipka be ace as Cher? She's proved that she has serious acting chops thanks to her stint in Mad Men, but we'd like her to show off her...

The long-rumoured Clueless musical has been confirmed.

The original film's director Amy Hecklering told Entertainment Tonight that casting would be the main challenge for the production.

"I've written what they call the book, and it's a jukebox musical," Hecklering said.

"Well, casting - that's, like, going to be like the main problem."

Last July, Heckerling revealed that popstar Katy Perry had expressed an interest in playing the lead role of Cher.

Cher was played by Alicia Silverstone in the 1995 film, and was supported by Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, Dan Hedaya, Elisa Donovan, Justin Walker, Donald Faison and Breckin Meyer.

A TV spinoff ran for three seasons on ABC from 1996 to 1999.

Rock of Ages director Kristin Hanggi will direct the play and Dodger Theatricals (Jersey Boys) is producing.

Hecklering has not confirmed what songs will be in the Clueless musical.
