Expanding supporting characters like Q and Moneypenny gives depth to the Bond franchise. Films like "Casino Royale" and "Diamonds Are Forever" make changes to the source material for better storytelling. Bond films have evolved tone-wise, balancing humor and seriousness over different eras to maintain broad appeal.
The James Bond movies have never been afraid to make changes to the original 007 novels, some better than others. Every James Bond movie prior to 1989's License to Kill shares a title with one of Ian Fleming's works. While some serve as faithful adaptations that make only minor tweaks to the source material, others are unrecognizable from the original novels in almost every way but name. As time has gone on and as Fleming's material has run out, the films have increasingly chosen to tell original James Bond stories. Many of these, however, still take small fragments of inspiration from the books.

Pamela Salem, who portrayed Miss Moneypenny in the non-Eon James Bond movie Never Say Never Again, has passed away at the age of 80.
While Pamela Salem’s turn as Moneypenny was a one-off – and in a film that is widely not considered part of the 007 canon – her go at the beloved character can’t be ignored. Interestingly, despite how frequently the character appears in the Bond universe, she has only been played by a small selection of actresses: Lois Maxwell, Caroline Bliss, Samantha Bond, and Naomie Harris. But only Salem has the distinction of playing Miss Moneypenny just one time.

Moneypenny and 007 have a platonic relationship in the James Bond movies, despite their intimate connection and flirtatious edge. The relationship between Moneypenny and Bond is complex and never fully consummated, with evidence of deeper emotions but limited physical intimacy on screen. Both the James Bond films and Ian Fleming's books depict a professional and platonic relationship between Moneypenny and Bond, with her role evolving in different ways across different mediums.
James Bond's relationship with women is one of the most complex and essential aspects of his character, but his connection to one woman in particular has always remained somewhat enigmatic. Appearing in 23 movies since her debut in 1962's Dr. No, Miss Moneypenny is an MI6 stalwart, pivotal in both Ian Fleming's novels and the movies they subsequently inspired. However, for all her ubiquity, Moneypenny's relationship with Bond is relatively mysterious.

Movie franchises often recast characters due to reasons like actor availability, aging out of roles, or financial restrictions. The three children, together and individually, have a huge pile of unresolved issues, as you would expect, because otherwise, there wouldn’t be any point in telling this story. Ideally, they should get equal shares of their father’s wealth, but here’s the hook: the dead man apparently updated his will just before his death, and according to the new will, somebody else is going to be the sole heir to the huge fortune.

Although Daniel Craig's era as James Bond did an admirable job of honoring the character's rich cinematic history, this period in the movie series wasn't afraid to make some interesting creative changes. Both with its tone – a markedly grittier approach than previous incarnations – and with its reinterpretation of classic characters, Craig's Bond was a radical departure from the franchise formula. While not every change was warmly received, there's no doubt that this version of the spy saga has left its mark.
Beginning in 2006 with Casino Royale – a movie that many believe to be the best James Bond film – the Craig-era Bond took a sledgehammer to many long-standing tropes. In place of quaint gadgetry and winking one-liners, Craig's Bond utilized a darker, more realistic setting to explore the tortured psychology of the character. While these changes clearly impacted the titular protagonist, they also had a major effect on a number of other franchise stalwarts.

While these changes clearly impacted the titular protagonist, they also had a major effect on a number of other franchise stalwarts.

In James Bond movies, the cinematic Miss Moneypenny was Flirtatious, efficient, and loyal. She has been a bespectacled girl-next-door (Caroline Bliss), an effervescent, pixie-cut attaché (Samantha Bond), and a feisty agent-in-training (Naomie Harris). But, above all, she’s been Lois Maxwell, the charming Canadian actress who established and then wholly embodied M’s secretary across fourteen films and three James Bond actors.
As 007 changed through the years, so has Miss Moneypenny, with subtle and obvious attempts to modernize or toughen her up. The most recent Moneypenny moved out of the office shadows and into a supporting role. This allowed Naomi Harris to portray the character in a much more active way, allowing her to get involved in the action and even almost kill Bond on one occasion. By No Time to Die, Miss Moneypenny proved she was a loyal and fierce friend and ally to 007, and she proved that she...

Halle Berry celebrates the James Bond movie Die Another Day's 20th anniversary. Premiering in 2002, Die Another Day starred Berry as Bond Girl Jinx opposite Pierce Brosnan's 007. The fourth and final appearance of Brosnan as the MI6 agent, Die Another Day, is often cited as the worst film in the franchise, despite being the highest-grossing Bond film at the time. Drawing criticism for its over-the-top use of humor and camp style, Berry's outing as Jinx at least offered a more empowered version of the typical "arm candy" function of the Bond Girl, having a more active role alongside Bond.
Halle Berry took to Twitter to celebrate her Bond role and Die Another Day's 20th anniversary, sharing a special tribute to Brosnan. Alongside her message, Berry includes a video of an iconic scene from the movie, where Jinx and Bond meet for the first time. See Berry's tweet below:

Pierce Brosnan's tenure fronting the James Bond movie franchise holds a surprising 007 record. Pierce Brosnan played James Bond for a total of four movies, starting with 1995's Goldeneye and ending with Die Another Day in 2002. During that period, Brosnan's Bond encountered a string of iconic figures from the James Bond universe, including Judi Dench as M, Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese as Q, and Samantha Bond as Miss Moneypenny. More curious than who Brosnan did meet as 007, however, are the characters he somehow missed.
Pierce Brosnan's James Bond remains the only iteration of 007 that neither works alongside CIA counterpart Felix Leiter, nor faces off against arch-nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld. George Lazenby is the only other James Bond incarnation who never met Felix Leiter, but Lazenby battled Telly Savalas' recast Ernst Stavro Blofeld in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Hounded, also released as Hunted outside the UK, is the latest cinematic variation on The Most Dangerous Game. It takes elements from films like Don’t Breathe, Nefarious, and Turkey Shoot then adds the very upper-class British tradition of fox hunting. The result is a not-so-subtle survival horror metaphor for class warfare.
Leon and his brother Chaz along with their partners Vix and Tod have a good racket going on. Gregory, the local antique dealer hires them to rob his own customers. It’s good money for a quick in and out, grabbing the one item of value he wants.
Having made enough to send Chaz to college, Leon is ready to retire. The others however want one more job to set themselves up.

With its ‘posho’ villains and gang of ne’er-do-wells, this tale debut from director Tommy Boulding is too caricatural to hit hard as satire
Brexit has been conspicuous by its absence so far in British cinema. So for the time being we have to make do with faint echoes in the likes of Hounded, which in its B-movie-ish way deals with the current deep divisions in English society and nostalgia for Blighty’s heyday. Pitting a group of Peckham housebreakers against the fox-hunting set, its satire is blunt-nosed and its prole-coursing spree never quite devious enough. But it still has a certain vindictive thrill.
Leon (Nobuse Jr) is the leader of a crew of thieves about to pull one last job in order to bankroll the studies of Chaz (Malachi Pullar-Latchman). Along with domestic abuse survivor Vix (Hannah Traylen) and Polish immigrant Tod (Ross Coles), they bust into a sprawling manor,...

Plot: A gang of young thieves in the midst of a home robbery get more than they bargained for when they are captured by the property owners. Attacked and bound by their captors, they are spirited away from the home and released in the middle of nowhere — tracked, hunted and to be killed like animals by a heavily armed wealthy family.
Review: We’ve seen the “Most Dangerous Game” story told in many different ways, yet Hunted manages to still be entertaining despite knowing where it’s going for most of the duration. And I think it’s because they go the smart route of keeping this small. This is a singular group being hunted by another singular group. This isn’t some large conspiracy that spans the entire world, which immediately goes into the realm of fantasy. The film’s greatest strength is just how real the situation feels.

"Last night you made the unfortunate mistake of breaking into my ancestral home." Saban Films has unveiled an official US trailer for an indie action thriller titled Hunted, formerly known as Hounded when it premiered at FrightFest in the UK last month. Arriving in the US in theaters and on VOD starting in October. The film comes from the UK and is described as a "seriously suspenseful action-thriller." A stately home robbery takes an evil turn one night when a gang of young thieves are caught by the owners of the house and then hunted across the estate for the proprietor's entertainment. Sounds like a bit of a twist on "The Most Dangerous" game concept, along with some wealthy estate owners being royal assholes. Hunted stars Samantha Bond, Nick Moran, James Lance, and Malachi Pullar Latchman. Get a head start now. It almost reminds me of The Hunger Games in this trailer,...

It may be this year’s ‘comfort food’ film but Julian Fellowes’ second theatrical sequel to his revered long-running TV show is quality goods — and may be better than the first one. Almost every actor is back, seemingly pleased as plum puddings to repeat their roles as either landed nobility or downstairs staff. The storyline ties a final bow on some characters and plot lines, and in a far more pleasing way than we thought possible. Even casual fans of the franchise ought to be charmed.
