American director-producer-screenwriter King Vidor (1894-1982), whose long and notable career parallels the history of Hollywood filmmaking, is the subject of a 35-film retrospective at the Berlinale, curated by Rainer Rother, artistic director of the Deutsche Kinematek and head of the Retrospective program. The films, chosen from five decades, will be screened in the best extant copies. Exclusive: Grindstone picks up gangster crime-drama.

Grindstone Entertainment Group has picked up North American distribution rights to gangster drama Rise Of The Krays from Carnaby International.

Simon Cotton (The Dark Hours), Kevin Leslie (The Third Testament) and Phil Dunster (The Filmmaker’s Son) star in the film, which charts the climb to power of the legendary East End twins.

Grindstone has earmarked a February 2016release with Lionsgate Home Entertainment handling distribution.

The deal was struck between Carnaby International’s director of international sales Tania Sarra and Grindstone’s head of acquisitions, Stan Wertlieb.

Traverse Media has acquired North American digital rights to the Blanc/Biehn Productions thriller starring Michael Biehn.

The story centres on the nightmare that ensues when an indiscretion tests a strained father-son relationship and reveals deep secrets.

The cast includes Sarah Butler, Caitlin Keats, Jennifer Blanc (pictured at right with Biehn), Chris Meyer, Matthew Ziff, Richard Gunn, Christian Meoli and Tany Newbould.
