'The Hoarding (2020)' is a short horror film about a young cleaner who gets more than she bargained for on her first job. Tasked with clearing out the house of a hoarder, the cleaner and her coworker come across a variety of strange objects amidst the organised chaos that litters each and every room in the dilapidated building. As they do their jobs, the pair discover a series of increasingly unsettling hints that something sinister may have occurred not so long ago. The piece is a bit too long and its scares are generally a little weak, but it has a solid aesthetic and its relatively confident direction makes for a consistently engaging experience. The performances are good and there are some nice moments in the screenplay. The ending is a little underwhelming, even if its abruptness is intended to add to its horror, but the overall affair is fairly enjoyable for its majority.
