Garundi In ‘Kohrra,’ Explained: What Is The Role Of Barun Sobti’s Character?
Image
In Kohrra, we get to watch plenty of characters that are not exactly bad or good. There are multiple shades of gray given to almost everyone in the show to help us understand the motivations that make them want to behave a certain way. There are fathers, uncles, brothers, mothers, cousins, and daughters who believe that whatever they are doing is right. Especially the elders in the show tend to take steps that they claim are in family’s best interests, even though they might not be good for their children. Nothing but a lot of self-awareness can get someone to admit that they might be wrong, and since Kohrra is set in the present day, expecting people close to you to not to be selfish is difficult.

Amarpal Garundi, a young police officer working with Balbir Singh with Punjab Police, is the Imran Ansari to Balbir’s Hathi Ram...

‘Kohrra’ Season 2: Is It Renewed Or Canceled? What Can We Expect Next?
Image
Netflix has hit the jackpot with Kohrra, the brand-new crime investigation drama set in rural Punjab. The arresting nature of the narrative, brought to life by some great performances, makes the show a must-watch. Steve, Paul’s father, was in for a shock when he learned that Paul was a gay, and that he and Liam had been in love for many years. Steve is angry because he cannot believe his son is not who he thought he was. Homophobia runs deep in his system,...

‘Kohrra’ Characters: Steve Dhillon, Manna And Balbir Singh, Explained
Image
Kohrra, the new Netflix Original by Sudip Sharma, is, on the surface, about a murder investigation and how the Punjab Police is under tremendous pressure to track down the culprit. If you look at it from close quarters, it is about family dynamics and the lack of understanding between the parents and their kids. Under the garb of an investigative drama, the makers and the writers take the audience through the lives of the rich and the middle class families and all the while, slowly and steadily, uncomfortable truths come out. In this town topics such as equality and feminism have not reached the locals; it is always lived experience that makes individuals grow as human beings.

Kohrra is filled with parent figures who are unable to come to terms with the fact that their kids are individuals, they are allowed to have an opinion, and they intend to live on their terms.

Kevin Costner And Christine Baumgartner: A Timeline of Their 18-Year Marriage And Messy Divorce
Image
Just one day before Valentine’s Day in 2023, Kevin Costner shared a video of himself unboxing his Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series. While talking to the camera, the 68-year-old actor gushed over how his wife, Christine Baumgartner, went all out with “30 bucks” to decorate their Montecito, California home for an impromptu Golden Globes watch party after floods kept the couple from attending in person a month earlier.

Then, less than three months later, Christine dropped a bombshell when she filed for divorce on May 1 after 18 years of marriage. According to court documents, obtained by Et, Christine cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the dissolution of the marriage, and she listed April 11 as the date of separation.

One day after Christine, 49, filed for divorce, a rep for the “Yellowstone” star intimated he was dragged into a divorce.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his...

‘The Witcher’ Season 3, Part 2 Trailer Teases Henry Cavill’s Final Episodes: ‘There’s No Coming Back From This’ (Video)
Image
“The Witcher” Season 3, Part 1 may have teased a war, but it seems as though Part 2 will deliver on that promise. Packed with fire and fighting, the trailer for the remaining three episodes dropped Thursday ahead of Season 3, Part 2’s July 27 premiere date.

True to form, the trailer jumps between several unsettling scenes from Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) covered in blood to a beaten Ciri (Freya Allan) and several fiery attacks. When the tension is at its highest, Jaskier (Joey Batey) appears.

“The war brewing outside is nothing compared to what Geralt would unleash to protect his daughter,” Jaskier ominously says to an unknown foe.

Yet the biggest moment in this first look belongs not to Ciri but to Geralt (Henry Cavill). Repeatedly, the video shows Geralt fighting his way through wave after wave of foes. The video then shifts to...

Richard E. Grant Talks Through The Lesson
Image
Richard E. Grant is a towering figure in film, and not just because he's a great actor of considerable height. He also has a tendency to play larger-than-life characters, people with sizable egos and so much self-inflation they often float. He's mastered this in great films like Withnail & I and Can You Ever Forgive Me?, and has played with that character type to hilarious degrees in projects like How to Get Ahead in Advertising, Girls, and Loki. He injects varying degrees of melancholy or menace into these characters as well, so that none of them are quite the same. He's a master of the craft.

His latest conjuring act is J.M. Sinclair, one of the four main characters of the tense but witty chamber drama The Lesson, which is part film noir, part dark comedy, and part literary thriller. Sinclair is a famous novelist who hasn't published a book in several years,...

‘The Lesson’ review round-up: Daryl McCormack, Richard E. Grant and Julie Delpy are ‘deliriously captivating’
Image
An aspiring writer recently graduated from Oxford descends upon the gloomy countryside estate of revered author J.M. Sinclair for a summer gig tutoring his son. Naturally, the young man, Liam, arrives bearing an unfinished manuscript with which he plans to impress his hero, but if there’s anything to be taken away from this “exquisitely made chamber piece”, it’s that meeting your idols isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Though the house overflows with contemporary art curated by Sinclair’s wife, Hélène, and light that pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows, sorrow echoes between its hallways and behind its locked doors. Two years earlier, we learn, the Sinclairs’ eldest drowned himself on the property, a trauma that sent J.M. into professional hiatus. Albeit for very different reasons, Liam’s arrival is just what the family has been waiting for, and he soon finds himself tangled...

Why Did Ash Die in Black Mirror's 'Be Right Back'?
Image
A major draw of Black Mirror is how many episodes leave a few stories open-ended. For example, in "The Entire History of You," it's kept vague if Liam did kill his wife and baby before trying to dig his grain out. He was quite angry to learn about her infidelity, which gave fans something to ponder.

This style of writing makes the show very thought-provoking, with Black Mirror's big message reminding viewers that humans can often be their worst enemies. Technology is just a tool that hastens this notion along the way. Interestingly, Season 2's "Be Right Back" poses an equally-intriguing question when it came to the character of Ash, the man who died and was replaced by an android.

‘Breaking Infinity’ Review
Image
Stars: Neil Bishop, Zoe Cunningham, Martin Bishop, Zed Josef, Jonny Phillips | Written by David Trotti | Directed by Marianna Dean

Breaking Infinity is the kind of film I both love and dread seeing on my review schedule. I love it because indie science fiction is frequently full of interesting ideas and concepts that bigger-budget films don’t deal with. I hate it because, often due to their indie budgets, they can’t do those ideas justice. This film had created a bit of a buzz on its festival run, but could it live up to the hype?

Liam lies in a hospital bed as an old man shouts at him to wake up. He does, briefly appearing in a burning building before finding himself back in the hospital where he passes out only to wake up as a different, less injured, version of himself in a different version of the hospital.

Henry Cavill at an event for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)
With the news of The Witcher Season 3 debuting this summer on Netflix, fans are struggling with the following bombshell:

It will be the final season with Henry Cavill playing Geralt of Rivia.

The sad news broke last year. At the same time, it was revealed that he would pass the torch to Liam Hemsworth, who would take over as the series lead, beginning with The Witcher Season 4.

In a new interview with Total Film Magazine, showrunner Lauren Hissrich is opening up about the show's significant shift in the upcoming third season.

Hissrich admitted there were many possibilities when Cavill departed, including canceling the series.

"It was time for him in his life to move on," Hissrich stated of Cavill's exit, adding:

"I think we've all been mourning this in our own way."

Indeed, the fans have struggled to come to terms with the show continuing with someone else in the lead role.

Breaking Infinity review – low-budget time-travel puzzler goes round in circles
Neil Bishop
Liam must work out not just what he did and what’s gone wrong but how to stop it in the first place when the time-travel gizmo at his super-secret science lab goes wrong

This British-made puzzle of a movie revolves around Liam (Neil Bishop), a young man who wakes up with amnesia in an eerily quiet hospital ward with stitches in his face and a big bandage around his head. He suddenly has a vision of an older man (Martin Bishop) dressed like a shepherd in a nativity play telling him to wake up. When he does, it’s as if he’s shifted to a different point in time, and the injuries are much less severe. The only doctor around is Emma (Zoe Cunningham), who helpfully explains he was exposed to an intense electromagnetic field that caused his memory loss, but when he starts bombarding her with questions...

"Real World Enemy Of Toys:" Will Ferrell's Barbie Role Draws Comparison To Lego Movie
Image
Will Ferrell's character gets more screen time in the new Barbie trailer, and users on social media are already comparing the role to Lord Business in The Lego Movie. Directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie stars Margot Robbie as the titular doll, which is based on the iconic Mattel toy. The film's supporting cast includes Ryan Gosling as Ken and Ferrell as the Mattel CEO.

Ahead of Barbie's release date this summer, the first full-length trailer for the film just dropped, revealing more of the film's story and providing the first real look at Ferrell's character. Users on social media were quick to point out, however, that the actor's CEO character isn't dissimilar to his role as Lord Business in 2014's The Lego Movie. Check out some of the tweets below:

Black Mirror's White Christmas Explores the Catch 22 of Technology
Image
With Black Mirror Season 6 around the corner, fans are rolling through the archives to reconnect with the dystopian sci-fi anthology. Creator Charlie Brooker has done a fabulous job of spreading the wings of the show, shifting from just a British gaze to something more global.

Still, he's never sacrificed Black Mirror's main message, reiterating that technology has had a dramatic impact on humanity. For better and worse. And no episode dissects this duality more than the "White Christmas" special from 2014, which perfectly illustrated the Catch-22 at play.

Pretty Sure Oasis Isn’t Reuniting
Image
Over the weekend UK tabloid The Sun reported that Oasis were planning to reunite for a series of concerts in 2025. The only problem? No one checked with the Gallagher brothers.

Noel and Liam are once again trading barbs through the press, with Noel labeling Liam as “disingenuous” and a “coward,” and Liam responding by calling his brother a dickhead.

The latest war of words erupted after Noel was asked about the Oasis reunion rumors and proceeded to shoulder the blame squarely on Liam. “Well, I put it out there. [Liam] won’t call… I mean, he should call me, because he’s like, he’s forever going on about it. You’d have thought by now, he’d have some kind of plan,” he said during an appearance on the White & Jordan show.

“He doesn’t have to speak to me. He won’t speak to me, he’s a coward.

The Witcher Showrunner Stands by Henry Cavill's Recasting and Embraces a New Chapter
Image
The Witcher, a popular Netflix fantasy series based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, will bid farewell to Henry Cavill after its third season. Cavill, who portrayed the gruff monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, announced his departure from the show back in October. Some fans were initially skeptical about Cavill's casting, but his passionate portrayal and ability to bring depth to the character won them over. With Cavill moving on, the responsibility of embodying Geralt will be passed on to Liam Hemsworth, known for his roles in The Hunger Games and Independence Day: Resurgence. While the reasons behind Cavill's departure have sparked speculation, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently shed light on the decision to recast Geralt.

In the interview with Total Film (via Slash Film), Hissrich explained that it was time for Cavill to embark on new endeavors in his life. The cast and crew of The Witcher expressed their gratitude...

The Witcher Showrunner Defends Henry Cavill's Recasting, Teases Liam Hemsworth's Performance
Image
The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich defends their decision to recast Geralt of Rivia. For two seasons of Netflix's fantasy adaptation, Henry Cavill's performance as the magically enhanced monster hunter has garnered much acclaim from critics and audiences alike. It was a massive surprise when Cavill announced he would be leaving the show after its upcoming third season and replaced by Liam Hemsworth for season 4. Though an official explanation has yet to be provided, reports and speculation claim Cavill left the show due to it straying too far from its source material – Andrzej Sapkowski's books.

In a recent interview with Total Film (via Slash Film), Hissrich explains why they decided to recast Cavill's Geralt and continue after The Witcher season 3 rather than ending the show. The showrunner says, "There's just too many stories left to tell," and with the rest of the cast and crew still enjoying making the show,...

Why The Witcher Recast Henry Cavill's Geralt Of Rivia Instead Of Ending The Show
Image
It's tough to think of the Netflix fantasy series "The Witcher," based on the novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, without Henry Cavill at its center as Geralt of Rivia. He brought passion to the project as a massive fan of the novels and video games that already exist in the franchise, and he made Geralt a truly three-dimensional character with pathos. Even skeptical fans who thought the casting was a bit odd (I was holding out for Mads Mikkelsen) found themselves won over by Cavill's performance, impressed at the range he showed after gaining fame as Superman. Unfortunately, "The Witcher" will be going on without Cavill after the third season, with actor Liam Hemsworth stepping into his leather boots and silver wig for the show's fourth season.

There has been quite a bit of discussion around why Cavill decided to leave, ranging from potential creative conflicts with the "Witcher...
