LeBron James & Son Bronny Deny Allegations Of Reckless Driving Made In A Car Crash Lawsuit
Image
NBA star LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, have denied the accusations made in a lawsuit over an alleged 2022 car crash.

On Oct. 22, 2024, April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, two plaintiffs in Los Angeles County, filed a lawsuit against LeBron and Bronny.

They alleged they were driving on a highway on Nov. 13, 2022, in Littlerock, California, when the basketball players hit them, according to court documents.

This was also the day LeBron and Bronny played together for the first time in a regular-season game during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season-opening 110-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Lopez and McGillen said in the lawsuit that they sustained injuries that will require additional medical attention. They claimed the car they were driving had been damaged and had lost value because of the wreck. They sued LeBron and his son for unspecified damages.

The SpringHill Company, founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, and Fulwell 73 — founded by Ben Winston, James Corden, Leo Pearlman, Ben Turner and Gabe Turner — have officially inked a deal to merge their companies, creating a powerhouse player in unscripted, live and branded entertainment content.

But the production megadeal was a year in the making, after being first broached in the parking lot of Los Angeles Italian spot Antico Nuovo.

The meeting “had nothing to do with TV or entertainment,” Carter recalls, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Monday’s official announcement.

“Literally nothing to do with TV and entertainment,” Winston added. “We were meeting about a sports thing that we were maybe getting involved in. ‘Kardashians’ Producer Fulwell 73, LeBron James’ SpringHill Co. in Talks to Merge
Image
Amid a pullback in TV spending, unscripted production companies Fulwell 73, behind Hulu reality hit “The Kardashians,” and SpringHill Co., founded by NBA superstar LeBron James and Maverick Carter, are in talks to combine forces.

The companies have been discussing a potential merger for several months, two sources confirmed to Variety. Execs at both companies see the tie-up as a merger of equals, not one party acquiring the other. The teams at SpringHill and Fulwell 73, whose partners include James Corden, are looking at what’s happening in the media and entertainment sector and believe that consolidation would create a stronger entity rather than leaving each separately, one source said. The merger talks were first reported by Bloomberg.

The two companies are different enough in their content focus that they think such a combination could help each other grow their businesses, per a source familiar with the talks. In addition, SpringHill...

You get home from a day at the office and find a Netflix crew in your living room.

This is what Domantas Sabonis has experienced during the past year. Sabonis, the Kings’ starting center and a three-time NBA All-Star, is one of five main cast members in Netflix’s sports docuseries “Starting 5.” It follows the lives of five players — LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat and Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves — during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Starting 5 Is A Reminder To Watch This Netflix Movie With 93% On Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Netflix's must-see docuseries Starting 5 tracks five of the NBA's biggest stars through the 2023/2024 basketball season, documenting their highs and lows on and off the court. Undoubtedly the star of the piece is icon Lebron James, playing his 21st season at the top of the game, and Starting 5's central theme is the continuing speculation about James' possible retirement, but it's Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves' mercurial talent, that steals the show, much as he did in 2022 when starring as Kermit Wilts in Adam Sandler's highly rated movie Hustle.

Edwards' basketball chops are beyond question, and in Starting 5 he confirms the popular perception that, at age 22, he is James' natural successor as the future face of the sport. Recruited as the Wolves' number-one pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, he immediately invited comparisons with Michael Jordan, who shared his athleticism and combative spirit. He then led Minnesota to...

School is finally back in session! ABC’s Emmy-winning comedy “Abbott Elementary” returned for its fourth season this week, and even though we’re getting a full 22 episodes once more, the show thankfully didn’t wait too long to confirm the state of TV’s cutest union. In the premiere, which is now streaming on Hulu, Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory’s (Tyler James Williams) relationship takes center stage, and while it’s clear the two still have some things to figure out, the change in their romantic status leads Ava (Janelle James) to call in a district Hr rep to ensure that everything is above board. Meanwhile, the construction of a nearby golf course leads to some interesting changes for the school and our favorite teachers. As charming and funny as ever, “Abbott Elementary” is the awards contender to watch this weekend.

‘Starting 5’ Boss on Capturing Jayson Tatum’s Championship Run: “You Couldn’t Script it”
Image
When Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum stepped foot on the sidewalk in front of Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre for the world premiere of Netflix’s Starting 5, an announcer’s voice cut through the music to announce the arrival of a “world champion” over the loud speakers. Yes, there was an announcer and a deejay at the high-energy Sept. 23 premiere, which featured a hardcourt in place of a traditional red carpet and rows of basketballs to set the scene.

“It’s a hell of a feeling, man,” Tatum told The Hollywood Reporter minutes later of being introduced to the crowd in that way, thanks to his Boston Celtics winning the NBA championship last season, a victory followed by a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. “We accomplished something that’s almost impossible to do, something we worked very hard to do. I’m glad we made it happen.”

In the fourth episode of “Starting 5,” the Netflix docuseries tracking the 2023-2024 season of the National Basketball Association through a handful of star players, LeBron James lets off some post-game steam by teasing his wife, Savannah. “Stop!” she says, laughing. “We’re on camera!”

“That’s my camera,” James replies. The subtext is clear: Nothing will make the final cut if he doesn’t want it to.

James’ production company, Uninterrupted, is the primary backer of “Starting 5,” which juxtaposes the guiding light of the Los Angeles Lakers with four colleague-rivals: Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings. For the 10-episode season, Uninterrupted partnered with two other outfits associated with public figures: Omaha Productions, the shingle of ex-NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, and Higher Ground, the Hollywood venture of Barack and Michelle Obama.
