(Note: First actual review on site) Uncle Grandpa. A name that is so familiar to many Cartoon Network viewers. A show that utilizes surreal humour for laughs. Why does it get so much hate? People have been saying that the show is bad and it isn't such a gem. But, I would like to give insight as to why people will like UG. First, comedy. This is where I feel that the show is average, because although some people might like it, the humour is really hit or miss for me. I think that the episodes' and thus the show's strongest points are its good messages. Each episode (after Season 1) always leaves a good taste in my mouth due to its viewpoint on society and its surprisingly good (in my opinion) social commentary. Speaking of Season 1, this is where the episodes were abysmal, and that the characters were nothing but jerks and stereotypes. Which leads to my fourth point, that people really should stop hating on it, all because they watched S1E1 'Belly Bros' which most UG fans I think would agree is not a very fleshed out episode. But I feel personally that UG has come a long way. So any future people who watch uncle grandpa on your own terms, watch at least Season 2 or 3. Season 1 episodes do not feel well thought out and are half baked. Thus, I give UG a 7/10 for being weird yet relatable and improving over the course of 4-ish years.
When I saw this show on a commercial back in summer 2013, I had high hopes for it...when it was released, it was bad. BUT, the show has gotten much better. People shouldn't look for the bad episodes of a series, they should look for the good ones, and this show has a lot of both. I really didn't like Belly Bros. too much, but I really liked the internet troll episode.
So, is the show perfect? Far from it.
Is it good or at least worth it? Absolutely. At least see some episodes of the show before you decide to base your opinion based off of all the hate the show gets.

I actually started watching Uncle Grandpa after hearing a lot of hate about it, and to be honest I watched it and was wondering "this isn't so bad, I like it. What's the problem with it?"
At first i assumed it was maybe Uncle Grandpa's design, because i admit his design isn't exactly eye-pleasing. But it's unique and the creator(s) decided to think outside of the box, which is respectable. It's hard to find cartoon shows these days that REALLY try to make their own character, not make something stereotypical/generic just to please people. I personally dislike rip off characters, so i really appreciated the true effort they put into him. Also, after a while of watching the show his look really grew on me.
Now that I've read some of these reviews, i realized it's basically people's preferences and nothing else.
Joke wise, i'm biased because i honestly don't find most cartoon humor laughable. It's all been the same, if it's not an adult cartoon then the humor is basically puns, hidden adult jokes and a silly face or two that people like to screenshot and then post on social media. I didn't find Uncle Grandpa's humor any worse or different than the others I've seen. So i can't really comment on that.
But as for animation, i don't understand why people hate it. It's some of the best modern cartoon animation I've seen! There are little mistakes, it's not glitchy or awkward, and it's pretty smooth. Honestly, the animation is better than most modern cartoons I've watched. Gravity falls and Steven universe for example, usually have somewhat cringy and blocky animation. Of course, i love those shows and i'm not dissing them but what i'm saying is that Uncle grandpa's animation is in comparison smoother and i'm confused as to why people dislike it??? It's hard to make smooth animation for every episode of an ongoing show, so those who do have my respect.
As for characters, I again honestly really respect the fact they didn't try to create something like everyone else and just did their own thing. Pizza Steve might me just a slice of pizza with sunglasses on, but so what? I mean, it's not like they were lazy about it, they add more detail to Steve, like his slightly melted cheeze drops and they give him a good solid personality that makes up for the simplicity of his design. I'm a little upset that Mister Gus is literately ripped off Godzilla but i like his personalty as well. And his deep voice. And belly bag makes sense for Uncle Grandpa to have at least, how could we have uncle grandpa without a magical talking bag that can store stuff?? Giant Realistic Flying Tiger may be google images but that's unique to use in a show and i honestly think the facial expressions they use for a tiger are funny. Overall the characters seem to be fine, honesty i was more grossed out and disappointed by some adventure time characters than any ug one. Then again it's mostly preference, so i can't really judge either.
Concerning the weirdness, i believe it's unique and i definitely didn't think of adventure time when i saw it. In my opinion, i think the two shows have a completely different style of weird. Adventure time is more lore based, and the weirdness is more serious and limited because of that. In Uncle Grandpa, anything can happen! It's a kind of weirdness that doesn't limit the makers and lets them make creative episodes to their liking. They don't have a specific world lore and it doesn't have rhyme or reason, and i like it. Again, i don't see shows like that very much and it's very refreshing to see something that isn't redundant to other creations.
I'm not sure what else you guys wrote but maybe it just takes someone with a little open mind to appreciate the show, my little sister liked it and i knew a teen who liked it a few years back, so it's probably just all preferences and opinions. For example, i'm not a big fan of adult cartoons but people my age LOVE that stuff, so i'm not to judge. So really, i suggest you check out an episode or two yourself instead of basing your opinions off of others.

I was lucky to get Cartoon Network as a kid and I loved Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken and I Am Weasel. Uncle Grandpa is the next logical step in the evolution of silliness. I really love the whole concept of this show. It's the first show whose point is it's pointlessness. The gags are so incredibly bad that they're brilliant again. The characters have a great dynamic and the voice actors are really well-cast. The shows art is also very unique and artistic. While shows like "Adventure Time" try to tell a message and make people think, which annoys me quite a lot, Uncle Grandpa is all about fun and the celebration of stupidity. I hope this show continues for a long time and stay true to it's pointlessness.
Uncle Grandpa takes a bit to get used to, but if Salvador Dali made a cartoon it would look like this. I think the comments on the show are almost as funny as the show, because it appears people are looking for something more linear and structured, and guess what? This isn't that sort of show, it's just a free for all. And poor Mr Gus, and egotistical Pizza Steve, and Giant Realistic Flying Tiger - all great characters, all great fun.You actually don't know what to expect - like the episode where UG becomes the tire of his RV, or when Mr. Gus saves the crew because of his ridiculous pair of "jorts". Long live Uncle Grandpa, the trippiest show out there.
