Bryan Cranston Vows to Not Complete New Film Until Cast & Crew Are Paid
Image
When you work, you're supposed to get paid. As simple as that sentence is, in the movie business, sometimes things happen that make being paid a stressful challenge. Usually, those hardships fall onto the lesser-known cast members and crew members who work long, tiresome hours to bring a production to an audience. The stars of a project work hard too, but they're usually paid, and most times don't have to worry about when their checks are coming. This is why it's imperative for those in higher positions to stand by their fellow cast and crew members, just like Bryan Cranston. The actor is starring in an indie film, Lone Wolf, that has had a few financial setbacks, and he's speaking out about the situation.

Cranston has spent decades building a resume full of credits that span all areas, including television, movies, music videos, theater, and more. His ability to be...

Jonathan Daviss To Star As Snoop Dogg In Universal’s Craig Brewer-Directed Biopic
Image
Exclusive: Jonathan Daviss is set to star as the venerable hip hop artist Snoop Dogg in the definitive biopic from Universal Pictures. Best known for Outer Banks, Daviss takes the lead role days after the studio set Craig Brewer to direct the film.

The film will be produced by Snoop Dogg, Brian Grazer and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker.

Daviss hails from Houston, and played the role of Pope in the Netflix YA drama Outer Banks. In 2022, he starred in Netflix’s Do Revenge opposite Sophie Turner, Maya Hawke and Austin Abrams. Previous credits include Age of Summer and Edge of the World.

The film is a look at how Calvin Broadus Jr. entered into the West Coast hip hop fray. Taking the moniker Snoop Doggy Dogg (he’d later drop the middle name), Snoop brought his laid back drawling delivery and sharp lyrics to Death Row Records where...

Image
When Suge Knight sped away from Tam’s Burgers in Compton, California, on Jan. 29, 2015, he left two men lying on the asphalt behind him. He had just shifted gears and barreled over the pair with his two-ton Ford Raptor truck. One of the men, Terry Carter, would die from multiple blunt force injuries within the hour.

The other man, Cle “Bone” Sloan, was rushed to a hospital with two crushed ankles and a serious head laceration. Knight abandoned the truck and turned himself in for questioning at 3 a.m. the next day.

When Robert De Niro Replaced Al Pacino In A Crime Movie Before The Godfather
Image
Did Robert De Niro and Al Pacino switch parts in crime movies? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )

Well, here’s the kicker, According to Screen Rant, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino swapped roles in a completely different gangster flick! Yes, you heard that right. Just before The Godfather graced the big screen, De Niro replaced Pacino in another crime movie, talk about an alternate universe where history could’ve gone very differently.

Picture it, a world where Pacino never became Michael Corleone, or where De Niro’s star had risen a little earlier. It’s a bizarre little twist in cinematic history, and it almost makes you wonder how many great films we’ve missed out on because of one little Hollywood shuffle.

Trust us, if this swap hadn’t happened, the legacy of these two legendary actors, and The Godfather franchise itself, would look very different today.

'The Odyssey' BTS Images Reveal Matt Damon, Tom Holland & More in Christopher Nolan’s Epic
Image
Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming swords-and-sandals fantasy epic The Odyssey boasts one of the most all-star casts of all time, and we now have a new look at two of the lead actors: Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Pictured in character on set, Damon sports a great, big, bushy beard and looks fighting fit as he films a scene in Favignana in southern Italy.

Damon, who will lead The Odyssey as Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, was seen filming alongside Euphoria and Spider-Man: No Way Home star Zendaya (via People), who is rumored to be playing the goddess Athena in Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem.

The Odyssey marks Nolan’s first foray into full-on fantasy, with the movie retelling the story of Odysseus’ ten-year journey home following the Trojan War, which sees the warrior king facing a cyclops, Sirens, a witch goddess,...

‘High Rollers’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: John Travolta, Gina Gershon, Lukas Haas, Quavo, Noel Gugliemi, Natali Yura, Danny Pardo, Demián Castro | Written by Chris Sivertson | Directed by Ives

High Rollers is the sequel to 2024’s sleeper B-movie Cash Out (which I did see but barely remember) reuniting audiences with John Travolta’s slick criminal mastermind, Mason Goddard. Directed by the enigmatic “Ives” (which I guess is Randall Emmett hiding behind a pseudonym). This casino-heist actioner aims to up the ante from its predecessor’s modest thrills, trading small-time bank jobs for the neon-lit excess of a Louisiana gambling empire. With a bigger budget (while still constrained) and a glossier sheen, High Rollers wants to be the Ocean’s Eleven of the straight-to-streaming world. With this entry it could quite possibly hit that mark. Still, on first watch it’s somewhere between a guilty pleasure and a really enjoyable watch, a film that’s sporadically entertaining but...

‘Lesbian Space Princess’: A New Adult Frontier for Aussie Animation
Image
Directed by Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese, their Berlin Panorama premiering “Lesbian Space Princess,” no playing in Annecy’s Contrechamp lineup, is not only the first film of its kind to be made in South Australia but also a testament to the power of independent filmmaking.

A fast-paced sci-fi animated comedy, “Lsp” features candy-colored aesthetics, upbeat musical numbers and grown-up comedy to tell the story of Princess Saira, an introverted space princess from the planet Clitopolis who embarks on an intergalactic mission to save her ex-girlfriend from the Straight White Maliens — voiced by the popular Australian comedy trio Auntie Donna.

Of their ambitious undertaking, Hough Hobbs, also the film’s lead animator, explained, “There aren’t many Australian animated features, especially in South Australia. Our is the first to be made [in Adelaide], and it’s a significant milestone for us.” The film’s production was a labor of love, with...

Poll: What’s Your Favorite David Lynch Movie?
David Lynch
Many here at JoBlo were thrown for a loop when the great David Lynch passed away earlier this week. Over the last few days, we’ve written at length about his life and career at the site, but now we figured the time was right to turn the spotlight over to our readers and have them choose his best work.

Now, a few things to mention: Lynch is one of the few directors whose work on both the big and small screen was equally inspired. At first, I was just going to include Lynch’s feature films in this poll, but then I realized there’s simply no way one could pay proper tribute to Lynch without mentioning the original Twin Peaks series, or Twin Peaks: The Return, which remains his final work of art. So, I’ve included them all, as it can’t be denied Twin Peaks is his most iconic work,...

Ah, Wendy Williams has always been fearless to speak her mind and dive into the deep end of controversy. And talk she does—especially about the ins and outs of Hollywood. She even didn’t shy about stirring the pot with her daring claims about Beyoncé’s pregnancy, sparking debates that are as heated as they are sensational.

Following the news that Boy George and Culture Club are getting the big screen biopic treatment, an interesting casting suggestion has resurfaced. While no one has yet been cast as the 80s music icon, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has previously expressed her desire to bring Boy George to life on the silver screen.

The casting idea was addressed by Boy George himself during an appearance on the Australian radio show Fitzy and Wippa back in 2019. Theres been some really interesting suggestions, he replied when asked who could play him in a potential biopic (via British Vogue). One of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner. [People will say] she cant play you shes a woman, you know. But when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her.

Inside Out 2 Writer Explains Why Teen Crushes Were Downplayed in Riley's Story
Image
This article contains spoilers for Inside Out 2.

Inside Out 2 explored how an adolescent Riley would deal with new emotions during puberty. Screenwriter Meg LeFauve confirmed Riley has teenage crushes but it was best not to focus on them as the central plot of the movie.

The overwhelming reception for Inside Out 2 confirms it's a necessary sequel to the 2015 original. The emotions that have so far appeared tease potential sequels and the debut of more newcomers like Love, Contempt, and Regret (among many others). The film's pacing reveals screenwriter Meg LeFauve's brevity in handling the plot, which largely focused on Riley's struggle to belong in a group of almost-grown-ups. LeFauve told IndieWire that they decided to focus on this arc and veered away from Riley's crushes. She said that would only divert from the message of the film and sidetrack the story.

How Two Actors Played Tupac In The Straight Outta Compton Recording Scene
Image
Tupac Shakur's appearance in Straight Outta Compton is brief but impactful, with two actors portraying him: Marcc Rose and Darris Love. Marcc Rose, who plays Tupac on screen, closely resembles the rapper with his eyes, eyebrows, and posture, while Darris Love provides his vocals. Marcc Rose portrayed Tupac in another project, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., but his performance was limited in showing the rapper's personality.

The celebrated rapper Tupac appears in one scene in Straight Outta Compton, but he's played by two actors. Straight Outta Compton is an underrated musical biopic that sadly didn't leave as much of a mark as maybe it should have. Released in 2015, the same year as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Inside Out, and many other celebrated movies, it was always going to be difficult for Straight Outta Compton to make waves. That's unfortunate because...
