Now it has been revealed that he and his wife Kyra Sedgwick are such big fans of the genre that they’re planning to co-direct and star in a horror film – and they’ve cast their daughter Sosie Bacon, who starred in the horror hit Smile, as a co-star!

Variety caught up with Sedgwick to interview her about her role in the Off Broadway play All of Me, and along the way they mentioned that she’s currently developing “a horror film she would star in with Bacon and their adult daughter, Sosie. Cartilage Films has acquired worldwide rights to “Summer Solstice,” a new comedy that marks the feature debut of its writer and director Noah Schamus. The movie boasts an ensemble cast led by breakout performances from Bobbi Salvör Menuez (“Under the Silver Lake”) and Marianne Rendón (“Charlie Says”).

In a split ruling today, a state appeals court panel reinstated a grant of parole for former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten, overturning an earlier decision by Gov. Gavin Newsom to block her release.

Grace Van Dien says she’s been “turning down acting projects” due to alleged sexual advances from an unnamed film producer.

During a Twitch stream this week, the 26-year-old actor who played the role of Chrissy Cunningham in Stranger Things, revealed that she’s declined four movie roles in the last two-and-a-half weeks.

“Here’s the thing, I have seen that some people are upset with me for turning down acting projects and deciding to stream more, but the fact of the matter is the last few projects I’ve worked on I didn’t have the best experiences with some of the people I had to work for,” Van Dien said.

The Lady Driver star alleged that a film producer made unwanted sexual advanced toward her.

Lucasfilm is being taken to court by producer Karyn McCarthy, who allegedly accepted a deal to executive produce Star Wars series The Acolyte over a competing offer that would’ve made her the highest paid producer for Apple. She accuses the studio of breaching her contract in a move that deprived her of a high-profile credit on a major TV series from a competitor and, as a result, millions of dollars.

“Without explanation, without reasons, without justification, Lucasflm told McCarthy it wanted out of the deal,” reads the complaint. “By this time, the Apple offer was gone — Apple had to move on and found another executive producer for Sugar. McCarthy now had neither deal.”

Lucasfilm disputes there was a contract in place, according to the suit. It didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

The decision by the jury in Los Angeles County, which came on Feb. 9 after less than a day of deliberations, included $1 million in punitive damages for fraud. The case is one of the few business disputes concerning producer titles that have gone to trial, with most being resolved in arbitration or settling, and could inform the valuation of such posts in future legal battles.

There’s a genre I like so much I can never get enough of it — I call it the Biopic About Someone You Wouldn’t Make a Biopic About. The form came into existence, in a certain way, with “Sid and Nancy,” but it was all but patented by the screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, who planted it on the map, in 1994, with “Ed Wood” (still the “Citizen Kane” of the genre), then went on to script “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” “Man on the Moon” (about Andy Kaufman), “Big Eyes”, and “Dolemite Is My Name” (about the fluky hustler-comedian Ray Moore). There have been films in the genre from other quarters, like Paul Schrader’s superb “Auto Focus” (about the TV star Bob Crane and his video-fetish sex life), going right up through the recent Toronto Film Festival sensation “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.”

I hear the series has five lead characters: King Viserys Targaryen (Considine), Alicent Hightower (Cooke), Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (D’Arcy), Prince Daemon Targaryen (Smith) as well as Lord Corlys Velaryon, known as the Sea Snake, who becomes Hand to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons.

That last key role is still being cast; I hear Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful) is in currently in talks for it.

Additionally, HBO has tapped Clare Kilner, Geeta V. Patel and Greg Yaitanes to round out the series’ directing team.

Based on Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, which is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

The producers of Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh and Queer East Film Festival are delighted to announce their first ever collaboration, Tffe x Qeff. The project sees 2 UK premieres – Nobody (2020), a debut feature film from director Lin Chun-hua which reveals the story of an elderly transsexual character, rarely explored in LGBTQ+ cinema, and The Shepherds (2018), a documentary by Elvis Lu charting the struggles of LGBTQ+ Christians in Taiwan, and the challenges they face in making their voices heard.

The 3 short films presented earlier this year by Taiwan Ffe are brought back and presented alongside the two features. These are: Towards the Sun (2016), directed by Wang Yi-Ling, a moving story of an unlikely friendship, Chen He-Yu’s The Busy Young Psychic (2013) focusing on a teenage girl with a special gift and A Taxi Driver (2018), directed by Chen Yen-Hong, a thrilling story of a man finally deciding to take control of his own life.

Ward Davis, a contemporary and collaborator of modern-day outlaws Cody Jinks and Kendell Marvel, has announced his new album Black Cats and Crows. Due November 20th, the announcement arrives with the brooding title track, an ominous piano ballad in which Davis questions why the deck is stacked against him.

New Photos from Marfa: "The synopsis...

Paramount Pictures has decided to move its Michael B. Jordan spy thriller “Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse” back nearly five months from Oct. 2 to Feb. 26, 2021.

Paramount made the move on Friday following several other major titles being shifted back as Hollywood adjusts to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic with “Tenet,” “Mulan,” and “Bill & Ted Face the Music” opting for delays. As coronavirus numbers continue to rise in the U.S., the exhibition business is facing the fact that some theaters may not reopen until August or later.

Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse” was first published in 1993 and is an origin story in the 1970s about John Kelly, a Navy Seal who avenges his wife’s murder by brutal drug gangsters in Baltimore only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy.

The cast includes Brett Gelman, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Todd Lasance, Luke Mitchell and Cam Gigandet.

Stuntman turned director David Leitch — best known for directing “John Wick,” “Atomic Blonde,” and “Deadpool 2” — will supervise development and direct “Bullet Train” for Sony Pictures, the company announced on Wednesday.

Zak Olkewitz, whose credits include “Fear Street,” is writing the screenplay based on the hugely popular Japanese manga. The project is described as a contained thriller in the vein of “Speed” and “Non-Stop” and can be shot on a closed set subject to Covid-19 shooting protocols. “Bullet Train” is being eyed for a fall shoot.

Additionally, Leitch will produce “Bullet Train” along with longtime producing partner Kelly McCormick (“Atomic Blonde”) through their 87North banner along with Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick.

David Leitch, whose film credits include “Deadpool 2,” “Hobbs & Shaw” and “Atomic Blonde,” is heading back to the big screen with action thriller “Bullet Train” for Sony Pictures.

In addition to directing, Leitch will supervise the script, which will be written by Zak Olkewicz.

The film is based on the Japanese Novel titled “Maria Beetle” by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka.

Sony recently announced the studio is developing “One Punch Man,” also based on a popular Japanese manga, that they hope has franchise potential.

“Aquaman” director James Wan is set to produce “Hunting Season,” a time travel thriller from “John Wick” franchise writer Derek Kolstad, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Based on a short story by Frank M. Robinson, “Hunting Season” depitcs a militaristic society in which criminals sentenced to death are sent back in time and hunted by a posse of aristocrats. But while the punishment is usually reserved for members of a lower class, the whole system starts to unravel when a member of the aristocrat class is sent back in time to America in the mid-20th century.

Kolstad will write the screenplay, and Wan will produce with his Atomic Monster partner Michael Clear, as well as “Transformers” producer Don Murphy. Murphy will produce along with his partner Susan Monford through their Angry Films banner.

Universal’s “The King of Staten Island” — a semi-autobiographical comedy starring Pete Davidson and directed by Judd Apatow — is going straight to video on demand, making it the latest film to forgo a traditional theatrical release as cinemas remain closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“The King of Staten Island” will premiere on home entertainment June 12, a week before it was scheduled to debut on the big screen. Davidson and Apatow announced the news in a video posted to Twitter, in which they joked about the status of their film before opting to call Universal and ask them to put it on demand early. At one point, Davidson asks, “Am I still going to get an Oscar?”
