There's a reason most plays won't make good films. Where film thrives on movement, color, and bold action, theater is more focused, expanding its story through monologue, suggestion, and long, glassy stares. My Little Demon was never a play, but it has the same kinds of issues. For nearly all of its running time, Demon is confined to a single location and merely two characters, with occasional interjections of horror. Though it frequently works better than its set-up suggests, the film is unable to overcome its technical limitations to make its premise anything other than a gimmick or an unfortunate necessity.
