Exclusive: There’s a change at the top of Eureka Productions, the company behind unscripted series such as Fox’s Farmer Wants a Wife and Netflix’s The Mole.

Eden Gaha, who joined the company in May 2022, is leaving the business to “return to his roots” in independent production.

It comes as the former Endemol Shine unscripted chief helped the Fremantle-backed company launch seven original series including recent Fox order The Floor.

Gaha said he wanted to return to being a creator and showrunner, a role he was in before he joined the Chris Culvenor- and Paul Franklin-founded firm. He previously served as showrunner on Frogger, Eureka’s series based on the classic video game, for Peacock.

Fox has ordered the reality series “Stars on Mars,” a new celebrity unscripted series featuring “Star Trek” star William Shatner in a host-like role. The series, set to air this summer, will follow stars as they are suited up to live in a colony set up to simulate what it might be like to be an astronaut on Mars.

“Stars on Mars” premieres on Monday, June 5, at 8 p.m. on Fox. The show comes from Fremantle’s Eureka Productions. The idea centers on the celebrity contestants competing in the Mars-like surroundings until there is just one “celebronaut” left standing. Amazon Studios has ordered “Twin Love,” a new reality dating competition show from ITV Entertainment, to series. Premiering this summer on Prime Video and the free, ad-supported Freevee, the show will be hosted by WWE Hall of Famers and TV personalities Brie and Nikki Bella.

Billed as a “social dating experiment,” “Twin Love” explores the love lives of identical twins. Ten sets of twins will be split up and placed into two houses of “identical” casts, where they’ll begin a unique and compelling search for love. Per the series logline, “With double the fun and drama, the series will discover if their inherent similarities extend to their romantic desires. When separated from their twin brothers and sisters — some for the first time ever — will they pursue the same identical partners? Or will their choices be dramatically different?”

Exclusive: Eureka Productions, the company behind series including ABC’s Holey Moley and CBS’ upcoming The Real Love Boat, has bolstered its executive ranks with the hire of former Endemol Shine unscripted chief Eden Gaha.

Gaha has been hired as President of the Fremantle-backed company. He starts June 1 and will report to Eureka’s Co-CEOs Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin, based out of LA.

It comes after Gaha served as showrunner on Eureka’s Frogger series for Peacock.

Gaha has been both a showrunner, exec producer and executive, having previously been President of Unscripted Television at Endemol Shine North America.

Comedies and dramas traditionally make up a large portion of the broadcast TV landscape between September and May, but networks don’t deny the continuous draw of hit reality TV and competition shows. Each season, ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox, the so-called “Big 4” broadcasters, bring back old staples and add in new unscripted content in hopes of topping each other outside of their sitcoms and procedurals.

While there could always be slight adjustments to season-long averages by the end of the traditional broadcast season in a few weeks, Variety has gathered Nielsen’s “most current” data through May 8 to rank ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox’s highest and lowest-rated unscripted series among adults 18-49.

Below are the lists, which count 33 completed weeks of the soon-ending season. These ratings are averages for the unscripted shows’ respective seasons and based on a week’s worth of delayed viewing, where available. The lists...

Host Cat Deeley is the only previously announced “So You Think You Can Dance” star set to return for Season 17, as Fox revealed a new cast of judges on Monday: Stephen “Twitch” Boss, “Glee” star Matthew Morrison and dancer/singer JoJo Siwa. “The Love Boat” soon will be making another run, promising something for everyone — but this time as a reality dating series.

CBS and its sister Australian broadcaster Network 10 have both ordered local versions of “The Real Love Boat,” set to air in the U.S. and Australia later this year. The show is exactly what it sounds like: A reality dating competition show, but patterned after the hit 1970s hour-long comedy “The Love Boat.”

And just as Princess Cruises served as the backdrop to the scripted series, the cruise line’s ships will also serve as a setting for the new unscripted shows.

Tuesday returned to its regularly-scheduled programming with a tie between the finale of ABC’s Jeopardy! National College Championship and the post-Olympics comeback of NBC’s This Is Us.

In fast affiliates the two titles tied as the highest-rated programs of Tuesday evening. In the 8 p.m. hour Jeopardy! National College Championship topped the hour with a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.45 million viewers. The finale, which saw Ut Austin senior Jaskaran Singh the top prize, was up in its final episode from its premiere a couple weeks back. In the latest TV show ratings, the grand finale of ABC’s Jeopardy! College Championship Tournament drew 5.5 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating, marking series highs and tying NBC’s This Is Us for the Tuesday demo win.

Leading out of that, Abbott Elementary enjoyed its largest audience in four episodes (2.9 mil) and tied its demo high (0.6), while black-ish (1.9 mil/0.4) ticked up. To Tell the Truth‘s season opener (1.8 mil/0.3) was a slight improvement on time slot predecessor Queens‘ Season 1 averages (1.3 mil/0.3).

Even with the 2022 Winter Olympics in the bag, NBC continues to dominate primetime.

Primetime returned to regularly scheduled programming on Monday, with the usual suspects back atop the ranks. The first post-Olympics night saw NBC win the highest demo rating with America’s Got Talent: Extreme. In early numbers, AGT: Extreme earned a 0.7 demo rating and 4.33 million viewers. The two hour episode went head-to-head with the latest episode of ABC’s The Bachelor, which was the second-highest rated television program on Monday and steady from the previous week.

Nabbing the night’s largest audience was 9-1-1: Lone Star which was slightly down from the previous installment. The 8 p.m. hour also saw new episodes of The Neighborhood on CBS and All American on The CW.

The following hour saw Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, stable in both demo rating and viewership, take the top spot.

In the latest TV show ratings, ABC “bubble” drama Queens closed out its freshman run on Tuesday night with its smallest audience yet (an even 1 million viewers) and a second straight 0.2 demo rating.

With Live+7 DVR playback factored in, Queens has been averaging 1.92 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating — ranking last and No. 7 out of the eight dramas ABC has fielded this TV season. TVLine readers gave both the finale and the season an average grade of “A”; read post mortem.

Previous Feb. 9 – 2:30 P.M.: Even in Total Audience Delivery, NBCUniversal’s Tuesday’s primetime performance fell slightly behind Monday’s.

The latest primetime coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympics across NBCUniversal platforms drew in a Total Audience Delivery of 11 million viewers, down from the previous evening’s 11.5 million. For the corresponding day during the 2018 Winter Olympics, NBCUniversal tracked a Total Audience Delivery average of 22.6 million viewers.

Despite the lowering Total Audience Delivery numbers, NBCUniversal said that Peacock delivered its best ever six0day usage period since the 2022 games began.

After last week’s three-way tie with The Neighborhood and 9-1-1: Lone Star, ABC’s The Bachelor is back at the top of primetime.

On Monday, The Bachelor bumped up from the previous week’s episode to earn a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.59 million viewers, per fast affiliates. Like the previous episode, drama between contestants Shanae and Elizabeth carried out to reach yet another boiling point at the Bachelor mansion.

The Bachelor tied with Lone Star in demo rating last week, but the Fox drama brought in Monday night’s largest audience. 9-1-1 Lone Star was stable in demo and rose in viewers, joining The Bachelor to best a repeat of The Neighborhood, Kenan and March.
