As demonstrated by this mash-up of X-Men, Witchblade/The Darkness, Sandman (the main antagonist reminds of Morpheus from the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman) and...the Band Giuffria (the costumes of the girls in action)?! Ok, they're might not be comic book characters, but they're bonkers nonetheless. Add in the mix a lethal dose of usual meth crazyness from Japan and a bit too much of CGI blood (the only real downside I can find of this) and you have an interesting recipe, fun from start to finish. Recommended.
Mutant Girls Squad is the story of Rin (Yumi Sugimoto), a girl born a mutant, who ends up an orphan and being hunted by those that want to exterminate her kind from the face of the Earth. Luckily she meets some fellow mutants. Unluckily, those mutants hold some pretty out there values and opinions. Expect a lot of fake blood to be spilled.
The directors of this film have worked on such films as The Machine Girl, Azumi and RoboGeisha, and it shows. This is a gore fest of a film, filled to the brim with flying body parts, high pressure blood and needlessly graphic body horror imagery. All in good fun, of course, and if you're a fan of the genre, you're going to love the exploitation on show here.
I also had no real problems with the story. The three main girls had distinct personalities, the setting was suitably bat guano insane, and the action was fun to witness. The main bad guy was pretty cringy, but in a way that oddly fit the whole aesthetic of the film.
That being said, this is probably the most perverse Japanese gore film I've seen, and I've seen some good ones. There are films that might have had more private parts on display, but even they were more... I want to say tasteful, but that doesn't really apply with any of these films. Less... childishly blatant, perhaps?
Still, if you've liked, for example The Machine Girl or Tokyo Gore Police or Ichi the Killer, this is definitely worth checking out. It's not quite as good as those three, but it's still a high octane experience unlike anything seen in Western media.

Great movie, its fun, its funny, its entertaining. It has comedy, 3 pretty girls, action, blood and sex appeal.
Watching the Iguchi movies, I always feel that the producers and directors are having fun while making the movies. This fun translates into the scenes and movies. This movies is not an exception, some of the comedic elements are hilarious - The Astro Boy scene is a laugh!!.
The action in the movie is quite well done as well. The rampage by Rin in part 1 is very well done. The director knows how to frame the shots to actually make it look like fights.
The acting by the 3 leads is solid, these girls shows an earnestness and professionalism in their roles, no bad B movie acting here. The bad guys are caricatures, the main baddie reminds me of the lead singer from Dead or Alive one of those 80s androgynous pop bands.
The sex appeal - one of the sexiest scenes I have seen in awhile. Thats with both girls fully clothed from neck to toe standing up!!.
Bravo!!

For a movie of this particular extreme genre, then "Mutant Girls Squad" (or "Sentô shôjo: Chi no tekkamen densetsu") actually was somewhat more enjoyable than others in the same weird genre.
First of all, these movie was drenched in blood and outrageous gore, and it is done to an absurd extreme, so you should know that in advance, that this genre is splatter extreme! But what made "Mutant Girls Squad" more enjoyable than many others was that the movie was focusing heavily on the story and the characters and not the blood, gore and mayhem itself.
The storyline was actually really nice and it was easy to follow and immerse yourself into. Just keep in mind that most things here will be over-the-top-extreme. And the characters were well fleshed out and given great personalities.
I assume that having 3 splatter/gore directors coming together on one project was bound to be something great in the end.
There was a lot of action in "Mutant Girls Squad", which was nice, making it a nice mixture of action and splatter. And I must say that the action scenes were nicely executed, especially the entire scene where Rin was chased through parts of town. Of course, what you will see in this movie is not action on the level that you would see in other Asian movies, such as those by Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Tony Jaa, etc. But still, it worked out well enough, and the action complimented the extremity of the mutants nicely.
I found the acting in the movie to be quite good as well, and people did good jobs with their given roles.
There is a lot of really strange things in the movie, and it makes you wonder how they just comes up with that kind of stuff. I could mention things like the armed forces having machine guns mounted over their noses, or a mutant girl with a chainsaw coming out of her rectum, or a mutant girl with katana-blades extruding from her nipples. Yeah, it is quite extreme, but this is what this particular genre is all about; being extreme and doing things that haven't been done before, and to top out the other movies in the same market.
I enjoyed "Mutant Girls Squad", as it was a grat mixture of splatter, gore, action and pure fun. It might not be suitable for everyone, just a friendly word of warning.

It's a super funny movie! It's one of the few movies that can make me laugh so much. The story and action scenes are ridiculous throughout but in a good way. I especially love the blood splatter/blood raining effects and the final boss. It's simply lots of fun and hilarious!
