I grew up on the great games published in the '80s and '90s by Sierra Entertainment like the Space Quest series, King's Quest, Police Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry. It's no surprise for me to learn that this game came from the same origins. This game combines the amazing story-telling of those adventure games with a first-person perspective, and adds thoughtful political/social studies education and philosophical elements that make this game a masterpiece. The graphics are crude, but the game uses the modern platforms' 3D processors to make everything move smoothly and keeps your mind focused on the action, not the presentation. I would wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone old enough to enjoy a young adult novel, and wouldn't tell anyone they were too old for it, this is a timeless classic. The only reason I didn't give it 10 full stars is that it does feel a bit limited, in scope, detail, and freedom. There is a bit of a ride-on-rails element to the scripted narrative, but your actions do have consequences and no two play-throughs will be the same. This was a huge achievement, making a game that feels both timeless and very currrent for anyone in any country, but perhaps especially the US or Europe right now. Congratulations to the team who brought Road 96 to Fruition, and I'm so glad to see the spirit of the best choose-your-own-adventure games is still alive. It's so good I might give it a second or even third try, and will be telling people to check this one out. Bravo!
A beautiful game, full of great vibes and fun storytelling! I ended up playing this game in 3 different playthroughs only because I wanted to 100% all the characters, which took me forever to complete, but IMO totally worth it.
This game is heavily story-driven that revolves around the player controlling a number of teens who are traveling across their country to cross into another. So, to me, this game is sorta like a dystopian future where Donald Trump (or someone to his likeness) becomes president/dictator, and turns the country into a dictatorship. You, the player, can persuade each teen you control to either be for President Torres, against President Torres, or be non-political, and with each decision you make, the world around you changes.
The characters is this game are the biggest highlights. Stan and Mitch were two numb nuts who have one mission; protect their sister. Another character I really enjoyed was playing John, the big ole truck driver. His missions were fun, but I really fell in love with his story.
The music is absolutely wonderful. This music mixed in with these beautiful level backgrounds just are such a vibe. Being able to climb a mountain and sit at the base with beautiful sights on the aurora borealis on a dark snowy night was good stuff.
I will say this: the way I played this game probably wasn't the best way, only because in me replaying the game twice, I was forced to replay the same levels, so it became kinda repetitive. But to anyone that reads this and doesn't want to make the same mistake, I say this; kill yourself. No no no I mean like, in the game, as you play as those teens, just try and play as many teens as you can. I think you only need 6 teens to cross the border to win the game, but if you die in the act, you'll get a new teen (you can get up to 16 so don't worry). I'm only saying this because if you want 100% on all characters, this is the best way to get it since this game is procedurally generated so finding characters is random, and if you show up at places you've been before, you might see some weird, creepy stuff happen (ghosts!!!!) In all, this game was amazing. Spending about 25 hours on this game was probably too much, but I don't regret it. This game has many cool things to show you, and with an Election Day coming up, you will have to make a decision that will change the outcome of the game. Highly recommended.

I love this game alot but I do not like Zoe and I also don't like the way Alex talks its just cringe to hear the words "homie" and "dog" from a little kid.
I saw this game on sale for about $10 and figured it was worth it to try. I wasn't expecting much story, just 'try to get from here to there' but what I got was so much more interesting. The in-depth character arcs of side characters, the interweaving interactions of your faceless teenaged character and their experiences, and the overarching story that ties every single character together during the war in Petria. If I had known how much this game had to offer, I would've payed full price. If you are having second thoughts, don't. Pick it up. See what difference you can make that other people haven't encountered. Every adventure is unique.

This game has an amazing soundtrack and with the good looking visuals it is giving a set of vibe. The characters are well made and there backstory is really intresting. Important to know that its an episodic game. The game has plot twist that is well timed. We are given from each character some advice and we slowly learn there backstory. The developers made the character depth/backstory so good exept maybe one or two characters. The game is designed to be played more Than one time. All and all i truly recommend this masterpiec to give it a try and I belive you will fell in love with this game.
