Bobby and Brooke walked the red carpet together and during the match, the TV cameras showed them kissing at around 10:23pm Et.

“Top Chef” host and chef Kristen Kish has eaten her fair share of culinary delights, but there’s one dish she’s not a fan of: smoked salmon.

“You could probably pay me, because if I’m on ‘Top Chef ’ and if someone serves this to me, I’m going to eat it,” she laughs. “But outside of my job, smoked salmon, especially the ones you buy in the grocery stores that are in the packages, and you open it and it’s so oddly slimy and like wet with salmon fat? The streamer is launching Next Gen Chef, which sees 21 of America’s hottest young chefs under the age of 30 compete at prestigious culinary school The Culinary Institute of America, on September 17.

Carlton McCoy and Kelsey Barnard Clark will serve as judges. McCoy is a master sommelier who previously hosted CNN travel series Nomad with Carlton McCoy, while Barnard Clark won Season 16 of Top Chef.

Culpo has previously served as a judge Hell’s Kitchen and the former Miss Universe, who is married to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, previously starred in TLC reality series The Culpo Sisters.

The eight-part series is produced by Project Runway producer Alfred Street Industries, UltraBoom Media, which was founded by a group that includes Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown producer and director Erik Osterholm, and Fulwell Entertainment.

Alan Cumming is savoring his return to Emmy glory. Peacock’s The Traitors is nominated for five awards this year, including Best Reality Competition Program and Best Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program — both categories it won last year.

“Life is sweet. What can I say?” Cumming says when asked about the recognition. “I feel like whatever happens, I’ve still won Emmys. But if we win, of course it’s like, how lovely, we’ve won again. Even after 48-plus seasons, over 700 episodes, and endless fire-making battles, Survivor still hasn’t taken home an Emmy for best competition series. That might sound absurd for a show that practically invented the modern reality genre. But Jeff Probst, the long-time host and executive producer, isn’t bitter.

NBCUniversal is betting on emerging talent to create the next hit reality TV franchise.

The entertainment company, through its NBCU Launch brand for talent development and inclusion efforts, narrowed down six original projects as finalists for its inaugural NBCU Launch Unscripted Pitch Accelerator, TheWrap can reveal exclusively. The projects will each receive a $20,000 development deal, as well as tailored support for the creators developing their pitches for greenlight consideration at NBC, Bravo or Peacock.

Selected from more than 800 submissions, creators include Sam Blakk, Mackenzie Rohan and Jenny Gnirke (who has two projects in development), and producing duos Fernando Grostein Andrade and Fernando Siqueira, and Renier Elvir and Omar Linares.

Specific loglines for the projects are being kept under wraps during development, but span unscripted genres like character-led docusoaps, lifestyle formats, true crime series, premium documentary series and competition formats. All projects are being developed by Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Twenty-eight actors and reality hosts from diverse backgrounds were recognized by the Television Academy with Emmy nominations on Tuesday, not only an 18% drop from last year’s 34 but a near-low since 2019, when there were 26 non-Caucasian actors and hosts.

At its highest, the most diverse year for actors and reality competition/talk show hosts was 2021 per Deadline stats with a massive 49 nominees.

While there were only two categories last year devoid of nominees from diverse backgrounds, this year there were three.

The Outstanding Reality Competition Program category debuted in 2003, with The Amazing Race dominating the early years. Iconic series like Dancing with the Stars, Top Chef, and RuPaul’s Drag Race followed, earning multiple nominations and wins and showing that reality TV is now taken more seriously.

Survivor, the genre pioneer, has stood the test of time with 69 Emmy nominations and seven wins, largely in technical and hosting categories. Though it went unrecognized in the main competition category from 2006 to 2023, its 2023 nomination marked a triumphant return to prominence after 17 years. However, in 2024, Survivor was left off the Emmy ballot entirely, receiving no nomination.

Survivor has bagged an Emmy nomination in 2025, replacing a show that seemingly took its place last year.

On July 15, the 2025 Primetime Emmy nominations were announced, with The Traitors, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Amazing Race, Survivor and Top Chef being nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

After 13 years of being nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, one reality TV series has been snubbed by the Primetime Emmys.

According to Deadline, The Voicehas been left out of the Primetime Emmys' Outstanding Reality Competition Program category for the first time since its second season in 2012. Since then, The Voice has been nominated in the category every year, and has won in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

The nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards are being announced. The 77th award ceremony will air on CBS and Paramount+ on September 14 and be hosted by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze. The 2025 Daytime Emmy nominations have already been revealed. Additionally, the Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies will air on September 6-7.

The categories for the Emmy Awards will consist of 25 different categories that range from reality television, late-night talk shows, dramas, comedies, and variety specials. Looking back at the 2024 Emmy Awards winners, last year's big winner was Shōgun, which won a total of 18 different awards.

A reality competition TV series scored its sixth Primetime Emmy nomination, while another was shut out for the first time in 13 years, as early 2025 award nominees were announced on July 15. In 2024, The Traitors US won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program versus The Amazing Race, RuPaul's Drag Race, Top Chef, and The Voice.

According to Deadline, The Traitors US has been nominated for a 2025 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program again, along with RuPaul's Drag Race, The Amazing Race, Survivor, and Top Chef. Survivor made a return to the nominees list after being left out last year. However, this is the first time since 2012 that The Voice wasn't nominated in the category.

What 2025 Primetime Emmy Nominations Mean...

The Voice won’t get the chance to win its fourth Emmy after missing out on a nomination for the first time since 2012.

The NBC show has been usurped in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category by Survivor, which returns after missing the cut last year.

It marks a step change for the unscripted world with Peacock’s The Traitors also competing again after winning last year.

The other nominees in the category are RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Amazing Race and Top Chef.

The Voice has been nominated every year since its second season in 2012 with wins in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The show campaigned for its Season 27, which was judged by Michael Buble, John Legend, Adam Levine and Kelsea Ballerini. Season 28, which launches in the fall, will feature judges Buble, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan.

For Outstanding Talk Series, it looks like Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon were not recognized. There are only three nominees in the category.

Reality Competition Program is jam-packed with fan faves.

The 25-category Primetime Emmys will air on Sunday (September 14), live on CBS and Paramount+.

On Tuesday, at the totally reasonable hour of 7:47 a.m. Et/4:47 a.m. Pt, which is just shy of four hours before Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song officially announce the nominees for the 77th Emmy Awards, “CBS Mornings” revealed two categories: Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Talk Series.

There were few surprises in either. Last year’s winners in those categories, “The Traitors” and “The Daily Show,” were shoo-ins; “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” was also expected to make the cut again in talk series. The only question mark was which show would take the third spot. It turned out to be “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Emmy voters sure know how to take a bite of the Apple. As the Television Academy unveiled nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards on Tuesday, Apple TV+’s hits “Severance” and “The Studio” led the tallies for both drama and comedy series, respectively.

The Apple TV+ drama leads the 2025 field with five nominations, including for program of the year and best drama. Britt Lower, Adam Scott and Tramell Tillman were also nominated for their individual performances. Netflix’s Adolescence, HBO Max’s Hacks and The Pitt, and Apple TV+’s The Studio were close behind, collecting four nominations each.

“With these nominations, we honor the art of television and the artists who create it,” TCA president Andy Dehnart said in a statement. “Our members independently selected these nominees, having championed these shows and in their writing, reporting and criticism throughout the past year.”
