TV panels once again outnumber movie panels, with the casts from series including Peacemaker, Outlander (the original and its prequel), Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Resident Alien, Revival, Gen V, Ghosts, and Abbott Elementary making their way to downtown San Diego for the sold-out pop culture convention.

The Anne Rice Universe will be represented by Interview with the Vampire and Talamasca. Plus, the stars of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Upload, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, Alien: Earth, Dexter: Resurrection, Spartacus: House of Ashur, and Paradise are scheduled to attend the 2025 Sdcc.

SpongeBob SquarePants is one of three shows coming to Paramount+ with new seasons releasing on the streaming platform in June. SpongeBob SquarePants season 15 is currently airing on Nickelodeon, the long-running animated comedy a staple of the network. Season 15 began in July 2024 and is expected to run for 20 episodes on the network. Most past episodes of the show are also available to watch on Paramount+, alongside many other TV shows from the children's network. "The Amusement Park" - See Romero's "Lost" Film on the Big Screen: "To celebrate the upcoming release of John Carpenter Presents George A. Romero's The Amusement Park as a graphic novel from Storm King Comics, the Vidiots Foundation in Los Angeles is presenting a rare opportunity to see the original film on the big screen.

On Tuesday, June 10, Vidiots will present Romero's original 1975 film, long thought "lost," followed by a conversation about the film with Storm King Comics founder Sandy King, The Amusement Park illustrator Ryan Carr and moderated by IndieWire's Alison Foreman. After the big-screen event, Sandy and Ryan will be available in the lobby to sign copies of The Amusement Park."

A new adaptation of Alex North's best-selling novel "The Whisper Man" on Netflix has found its star-studded cast. It was first reported that the streaming platform was eyeing the project from Agbo in 2022, but the studio didn't confirm it until February 2025. The new thriller from the former Scream 7 director Christopher Landon has failed to keep critics, and the audience frightened. The movie had its debut at the South by Southwest Festival early last month and received critical acclaim.

Drop debuted with a perfect score following its limited release. However, as the film celebrated its wide release on Apr. 11, Drop has lost its perfect score, and has also failed the impress the audiences. Following its theatrical release,Drop has received a Certified Fresh 83% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, a major drop from its rare, perfect score, and only a passable 73% from the audience.

Following the release of the film in theaters, Drop also received the Certified Fresh badge, which the thriller didn't have following its SXSW release. However, its score has continuously dropped.

The 83% approval score from the critics is more than exciting, and the critics praised the mystery and the tension of the thriller.

So, it’s all wrapped up in some deep history about John going back to his pawn days, going back to his fake Roman days. They are really, really churning up some history. And it’s interesting. Meanwhile, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) gets busy in his search for John.

If you had to guess what social media site is growing faster than the rest, which would you pick? TikTok? YouTube? X?

The answer is: none of the above (sort of). According to the latest data from eMarketer, the fastest-growing social media site out there is actually Reddit, where adult users in the U.S. are spending 3.5% more time there per day than they were in Q1 2024. That brings it up to 34 minutes on average per day, per user.

3.5% might not seem like a lot, but Reddit and Instagram are the only two sites in the positives, eMarketer found. Instagram’s gain has been just 0.3% year-over-year.

Along with charitable arm Google.org, the tech giants are giving funds to Emergency Network Los Angeles, American Red Cross, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy and the Institute for Nonprofit News. Products and services like Google Search, Google Maps and Waze are also being used in the response to the disaster, the companies noted.

The gift is the latest high-profile one from the entertainment and tech world, with Amazon, Disney, Netflix, Comcast and others also each putting forward between $10 million and $15 million in recent days. Despite unsettling weather forecasts for high winds on Wednesday, optimism is gradually building about the ability for firefighters to gain control over the fires. More than two dozen people have been killed and 11,000 structures destroyed in the nine days since the disaster began.

Google recently released a new Transparency Report, documenting how many requests it has received to delist sites from Google Search due to copyright infringement. Its latest figures (as of Dec. 12) indicate that 10,199,908,138 URLs have been requested for deletion by 629,343 reporting organizations. These 629k organizations received authorization to file these takedown requests on behalf of almost 611k companies purporting to own or hold a license to a copyright. While some companies like Netflix and Disney engage in anime, this list aims to represent companies where anime is a core aspect of their business.

Panel moderator Kel Mitchell, who voiced the character Beans McBeans in the series, introduced the legendary Mark Hamill as a surprise guest, who took the stage to thunderous applause from the crowd in Hall H. The Star Wars actor then announced he would be voicing the fan-favorite character The Flying Dutchman in the upcoming theatrical film The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants.

Today, Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for Bad Monkey, the highly anticipated comedy from award-winning executive producer Bill Lawrence and starring acclaimed actor, producer and screenwriter Vince Vaughn, who also serves as an executive producer. The 10-episode series will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on August 14, 2024 followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 9.

Based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling novel and enduring cult favorite, Bad Monkey tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. Google and YouTube parent Alphabet blew away Wall Street estimates with revenue up 15% to $80.5 billion driven by strong ad growth. The company also announced a major milestone, its first ever dividend of 20 cents a share in June. The stock is up more than 12% after market close.

Lynn Loring, who appeared as a young actress on Search for Tomorrow, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and The F.B.I. before becoming one of the highest-ranking female executives in Hollywood at the time, has died. She was 80.

Loring died Dec. 23 at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center after a series of chronic illnesses, her son, Chris Thinnes, told The Hollywood Reporter. Her family chose not to make public her death until now.

Loring also acted in a few movies, including Elia Kazan’s Splendor in the Grass (1961), Pressure Point (1962) and, alongside then-husband Roy Thinnes, Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969).

Rihanna will voice Smurfette in Paramount and Nickelodeon’s Untitled Smurfs Animated Film. She’ll also write and perform original music for the film while serving as a producer on the movie, which is slated for a Feb. 14, 2025 release.

Appearing on stage at CinemaCon, Rihanna said she’s thrilled to be playing this “blue badass” in the reimagined Smurfs movie. “I get to show up in my PJs in my third trimester,” added the mother-to-be. “I hope this gives me cool points with my kids one day.”

Based on the characters of Belgian comics writer and artist Peyo, the movie is described as a comedic, musical adventure “that sets out to answer one of life’s biggest questions: What is a Smurf?” Chris Miller, the Oscar-nominated director of 2011’s Puss in Boots, is helming the project.

New Delhi, April 21 (Ians) Alarmed at the success of Microsoft-owned OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai has created a unit that will help the company build more capable AI systems safely and responsibly.

This group, called ‘Google DeepMind’, will bring together two leading research groups in the AI field: the Brain team from Google Research, and DeepMind.

“Their collective accomplishments in AI over the last decade span AlphaGo, Transformers, word2vec, WaveNet, AlphaFold, sequence to sequence models, distillation, deep reinforcement learning, and distributed systems and software frameworks like TensorFlow and Jax for expressing, training and deploying large scale Ml models,” Pichai explained in a blog post late on Thursday.

New Delhi, April 17 (Ians) As Microsoft takes the lead with AI-powered Bing Search and ChatGPT, Google is set to release new AI-powered Search next month, with more features coming this fall.

The new features will be available exclusively in the US, and will be released initially to a maximum of one million users, according to The New York Times.

The company plans are part of efforts to meet the threat posed by Microsoft’s Bing chatbot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

“AI competitors like the new Bing are quickly becoming the most serious threat to Google’s search business in 25 years, and in response, Google is racing to build an all-new search engine powered by the technology,” according to the report.

The star from Ed and The Flash is set to host Hey Yahoo!, a new show for the Game Show Network that’s set to premiere early this summer.

The half-hour game features two teams of three players which compete to guess what millions of people are searching for on Yahoo. Contestants are given the first half of a search, and then have to fill in the blank based on what they think America is searching for. For each correct answer, the dollar value of that answer is added to the team’s bank.

At the end of three rounds of play, the team with the most money wins and will go on to the bonus round for a chance to add an extra $10,000 to their winnings.
