This was a fun movie and the acting was great. Yes, there was some weird unnecessary attachment to pulp fiction (25 years later!) but I'm pretty sure that was intentional. I can tell Roger Avary was almost doing an homage to Pulp Fiction and it didn't weaken the film for me. Crispin Glover was awesome, the actor that played Red was solid, the female lead was great too. The over-the-top bits were perfectly executed, finding the balance between absurd and comical while keeping the story flowing. I didn't know what to expect going into this, but I left the theatre wanting to see it again. It packed a lot of action and great acting into a film that was probably 10 mil budget (low in this day and age.)
But the real problem is the cast, and the worst mistaken cast is Luke Bracey, who played the role, Red. What a terrible actor. The whole movie is completely ruined by this guy, Jesus. He's not into this role and into this movie, and his weird Aussie accent also made him out of the place. His acting is awkward, lukewarm, contrite, forced, didn't even try hard to let himself into that role and into this movie. This guy is the first actor made me curse a lot. I noticed that Tomer Sisley played a bar tender role in it, and immediately thought that he might be the better choice for the Red role. Luke Bracey is a disaster. This guy should change his profession right away, I seriously think any movie he's in it would totally ruin it.
Tomer Sisley is a weirdo actor but a very talented one. He's the one that made this movie barely watchable in an over-the-top absurd way. There were many segments quite funny but the large part of this movie was not good, between melodrama and farce. I just don't understand what's the purpose Red's daughter would insist speaking French only. The dialog between the Red's wife and his daughter was in French, but what's the particular purpose? Then a guy speaking in heavy Aussie accent English also further messed up in a farce style. I don't know why, but even during my writing of this clueless review, I still feel bad about Luke Bracey, the lousy and bad actor in this movie.

This film had a lot going for it a great writer/ director. Solid actors and for some reason nothing really worked and film just dragged on.
Very enjoyable movie. Crispin Glover played the perfect crazy killer looking for revenge.
Violent, gory, crude and vulgar. If this is your kind of thing, you will probably enjoy "Lucky Day". Roger Avary directs and writes this film. He co-wrote Pulp Fiction and also wrote screenplays for Silent Hill and Beowulf. He directed Killing Zoe and The Rules of Attraction (both underrated in my opinion).. He has done some good stuff and I enjoyed all those movies. That being said, I was expecting a little more with this one. It wasn't great but it definitely wasn't bad either. It diverted my attention for a solid 95 minutes. If you ask me, the reason to watch this movie is for Crispin Glover's performance as the psychopathic hit man with a crazy French accent. So over the top but it makes the movie that much better. I'm not saying the other actors weren't good in it because they work with what they are given and they do a good job. Luke Bracey and Nina Dobrev (who puts on a convincing accent as well), were both solid in their roles. The movie could have had a little more storyline added in there, but it was watchable. I'll give it a 6.75/10
