Enthusiastic presentation, but generally below average.
Firstly, let me say upfront that there are very few assassins (if any) mentioned. If you like the idea of literal 'ancient assassins', you won't actually get it. The episodes are on some fascinating subjects like William Wallace, the Papal Guard, Medieval mercenaries and such things.
There are details of key military and political events that have the standard amount of research, much like anything else related you could find on the History channel. The problem starts when they try to discuss specifics, which end up being a mixed bag between consulting experts like Matt Easton about historical weapons to pulling myths and fiction out of their fantasial imagination, usually the latter.
Deceptive title, mixed information and misinformation, clear bias towards certain characters to caricature them in the desired spin. Overall not that great and unfortunately people who don't know history have to rely on these programs to try and learn, so they don't know any better.
