Loni Anderson, whose beloved role as Jennifer Marlowe on “Wkrp in Cincinnati” was nominated for Emmy and Golden Globe awards, has died, her publicist confirmed Sunday. She was 79.

Anderson played the “sexy-yet-smartest-person-in-the-room receptionist” on the hit TV series about a mixed-format radio station from 1978 to 1982. She died Sunday in Los Angeles following an acute prolonged illness, surrounded by family, longtime publicist Cheryl Kagan told TheWrap.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,” the family said in a statement.

Anderson starred in six TV series, seven feature films, 19 TV movies and two min-series over the years. After her diagnosis, she continued working co-starring in Lifetime’s “Ladies Of The 80’s: A Divas Christmas” with Linda Gray, Donna Mills, Morgan Fairchild and Nicollette Sheridan. The TV movie aired in late December 2023.

In an unorthodox maneuver, the league will take a minority stake in the giant Disney sports outlet, which will gain control over NFL Network and the NFL RedZone highlights service, in addition to three pro-football games that were being shown via the NFL’s own cable assets. The tie-up is likely to boost the appeal of a new direct-to-consumer streaming service ESPN plans to unveil in the weeks leading up to the next NFL season — a service that would be turbo-charged over time if it included RedZone and more football.

Kelley Mack, whose TV credits included a recurring stint as Addy on The Walking Dead, has died at age 33 after a battle with cancer.

Mack passed away Saturday in her native Cincinnati after suffering from glioma of the central nervous system (a type of tumor that starts in the brain or spinal cord), her sister Kathryn announced via Mack’s Instagram: “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.”

For almost 15 years, “King of the Hill” was one of the most reliably funny and consistently comforting shows on network television. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ animated sitcom managed a tricky balancing act: Its protagonist, the old-fashioned traditionalist Republican Hank Hill (Mike Judge), maintained politics out of date with a changing culture, and with views often more conservative than many of the writers on the show’s staff.

But the series also admired Hank’s positive attributes — his work ethic, his fundamental decency — never reducing him to a one-note stereotype. In many ways, the show had its cake and ate it, too. Kelley Mack, an American TV actress who appeared in AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” “9-1-1” and “Chicago Med,” died on Aug. 2. She was 33.

Her family reported in a statement that Mack died in her hometown of Cincinnati after a battle with glioma of the central nervous system.

Watts, who is playing former First Lady Jackie Kennedy, was filming American Love Story scenes in Central Park on August 4 with costars Paul Kelly and Grace Gummer, who are playing her onscreen kids, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Caroline Kennedy. The actress looked nearly unrecognizable as she stepped into Jackie’s shoes, with her brown wig, large sunglasses, and a scarf tied around her head. Variety understands that the leadership change took place last year. Week four of Big Brother got off to an exciting start. A new Head of Household was crowned and then dethroned all within 24 hours. Fans saw a bit of a shake-up on the block compared to the past three weeks. After Adrian Rocha said goodbye in an eight-to-four vote on Thursday, it was time for a new Hoh to be crowned. As outgoing Hoh, Lauren Domingue was not eligible to compete. For this competition, houseguests had to team up in three teams of four, leaving one contestant, Kelley Jorgensen, out. They had to walk on thin balance beams and hit a button on four boxes in the fastest time without falling off to proceed to the next round. The winner of the round was allowed to eliminate two people from another team. Jorgensen was then allowed to play in the next round as the teams were reduced to three people each.

Molly Shannon is joining her fellow comedy veteran Will Ferrell in the cast of an untilted series featuring Ferrell as a fictional golf legend. Shannon will play Stacy in the 10-episode TV comedy series, Ferrell’s first.

Shannon and Ferrell have a long history of bringing the laughs together. Both joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1995, and overlapped for five years at Studio 8H in memorable sketches including “Dog Show,” “Dr. Beamon’s Office,” and “St. Monica’s High School Talent Auditions.” Their film team-ups include A Night at the Roxbury, Superstar — a spinoff film with the Mary Katherine Gallagher character Shannon made famous on SNL — Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, and, most recently, as themselves in the Ferrell-produced documentary Will & Harper.

A trip to the green is in full swing in an upcoming scripted series that will star Will Ferrell in his first TV comedy as a fictional golf legend. Also appearing in the show is his Saturday Night Live castmate and frequent big-screen co-star Molly Shannon.

Shannon will play Stacy in the 10-episode comedy. Executive producers include Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions; Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street; Chris Henchy; Harper Steele; David Gordon Green; and Andrew Guest.

Emmy Award nominee Ramy Youssef is bringing even more of his genius to Netflix.

The writer, director, comedian, and actor is entering into a creative partnership with Netflix in which he will develop and create serialized first look projects through his production company Cairo Cowboy.

This new deal deepens the Golden Globe winner’s relationship with Netflix, which began with the Peabody- and Gotham Award–winning comedy Mo. Youssef co-created the series about a Palestinian refugee’s life in Houston, with its star, Mo Amer, and serves as an executive producer. In a recent interview with David Trulio, president and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, Leno criticized late-night hosts for alienating “half the audience” with their personal political opinions. “It’s funny when … you make fun of their side and they laugh at it.
