Season 2 of “Murder in a Small Town” has added three new actors to its cast.

Variety has learned that Bethany Brown, Marci T. House, and Joshua Close are the latest additions to the second season of the crime drama series. They will appear alongside fellow cast members Rossif Sutherland, Kristin Kreuk, and Marcia Gay Harden.

Brown is repped by Trisko and Thruline Entertainment. House is repped by Thruline Entertainment and Play Management. Close is repped by Buchwald, Play Management, and Stride Management.

“Murder in a Small Town” was picked up for a second season in January. The series is based on the Karl Alberg books by L.R. Wright. Fox acquired the U.S. rights to the show in late 2023. It airs on the Global Television Network in Canada and premiered on Fox and Global in September 2024.

Jensen Ackles is back on Tracker!

The 47-year-old Supernatural actor coyly teased his return to the hit CBS series with a video posted to his Instagram on Wednesday (July 30).

In the video, Jensen shared an update about his other show Countdown, but teased that he was sitting in front of a trailer with his Tracker character name, “Russell.”

While there’s no clarity on how long or in what capacity he’ll appear in the third season, this means he’ll be appearing in at least one episode.

Sadly, that is not the case.

TV Line reported on July 18 that series regulars Eric Graise (Bobby Exley) and Abby McEnany (Velma Bruin) will be departing the series ahead of its third season.

Tracker is losing two more of its regular cast members ahead of its third season. According to TV Line, Eric Graise and Abby McEnany (above) have departed the CBS series.

Justin Hartley and Fiona Rene star in the series, which follows a lone wolf survivalist who uses his expert tracking skills to help people.

TV Line said the following about the departures:

“Graise, who co-starred as master hacker Bobby Exley, and McEnany, who played Velma Bruin, were original cast members — but seldom, if ever, shared scenes with Hartley, whose alter ego really takes the whole “lone wolf” thing to heart.”

Recently, Elwood Reid, the showrunner of Tracker, talked to TV Line regarding Season 3. He was asked whether they intend to develop ongoing story arcs alongside the weekly cases.

His response was complex and suggests a lot of excitement, however, he began by warning that this is a “long season,” thus, they must “parcel” out some of the extended storyline. If everything is revealed too soon, “you’ve got nowhere to go.”

Next, he discussed an early episode from Season 2, titled “The Night Movers;” in this episode, Colter is searching for individuals and encounters someone who assists people in hiding.

Following the recent finale of its inaugural season, Watson is taking some extra time off to prepare for his next case. CBS surprisingly left the new Morris Chestnut-led medical drama with a Sherlock Holmes twist off its fall schedule and will instead bring the series back in 2026. When it returns in January, it will also begin airing an hour later in the 10 p.m. slot. The delay means fans will have to wait just a bit longer to find out what comes next after Moriarty (Randall Park) met his end, and the network's Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach is opening up about why the hot new title is being left in the waiting room for the upcoming season.

Reisenbach spoke with Deadline after CBS unveiled its fall schedule to explain some of the final decisions made regarding the roster. Watson was a curious absence after the overall success of its first run.

Looking back at Tracker Season 2 years from now, when the successful series is into its eighth or ninth season because it’s poised for that kind of long-term run, how will we judge it?

It took on a much darker tone than Tracker Season 1, with cases that were borderline too much at certain times. And it struggled majorly to develop any character other than Colter or Reenie, but overall, it was a consistent season.

It entertained and showcased why CBS gave Justin Hartley the keys to lead a series that is currently the most watched on television.

The second season of Tracker ended its run this past Sunday with Colter Shaw returning home to Echo Ridge. While Justin Hartley's Colter was back in his hometown to solve a case involving missing children from across the country, the world-famous rewardist eventually stumbled upon a world-shattering discovery of his own in the season finale. The CBS procedural has already been renewed for a third season which will certainly look to unpack what the newly unraveled Shaw family secret means for Colter and his siblings. Now, we know when production begins on the new season. Shworunner Elwood Reid, in a conversation with Screen Rant, has revealed that production on Tracker Season 3 will kick off later this year, in July.

"Yeah, we will be back in two weeks," Reid said, referencing the return of the show's writers' room, "and we start filming in July. I think it's the 16th or something like that.

After claiming an early victory om the 2024-2025 broadcast season last week, CBS is now touting its dominance across the entire television landscape.

Per 35-day multi-platform Nielsen data released Wednesday, the network boasts six of the top 20 most-watched shows across all streaming and linear series, with Tracker and Matlock landing in the Top 5.

There are actually only eight broadcast series among the Top 20 overall; the other two, Will Trent and High Potential, belong to ABC.

Thanks to CBS’ report last week, we already knew that Tracker stood as the top broadcast series of the 2024-25 TV season to-date with 10.84 million viewers per episode after seven days of viewing. But, in the 35-day window, the Justin Hartley-led procedural rakes in an average of 17.5M viewers per episode, nearly rivaling Amazon’s Reacher and Netflix’s Adolescence.
