As the first male spouse of a vice president, he is the first second gentleman of the United States. He is also the first Jewish spouse of a president or vice president.

Earned his JD from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

Has 2 children: son, Cole Emhoff (b. September 15, 1994) & daughter, Ella Emhoff (b. May 29, 1999) with ex-wife, Kerstin Emhoff.

Selected "You Get What You Give" by the New Radicals as his walk-on song for rallies during the 2020 presidential campaign. This led to the band reuniting for the first time in 22 years to perform the song at the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
